MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA -
Chapter 59: Alpha Killian Of The West Wood Pack
Chapter 59: Alpha Killian Of The West Wood Pack
Reana didn’t trust those powerless fools to have his back, not when they just stood there watching as their own comrades were snatched from them. Her pack members could never be so useless, Reana thought.
Suddenly, she saw Ryder make a dash for the monster that was about to snatch another wolf. Using wolves as an elevating platform, he stepped on them as he raced toward the monster.
Astonished by the guts of a powerless human rushing towards it, the monster cackled with glee, envisioning how it’d have fun tearing the stupid human apart and wrapping his intestines around those entertaining wolves’ necks.
But the monster’s enjoyment was short-lived as Ryder leaped into the air and landed on its back. In a heartbeat, he grabbed the monster’s wings. Before the monster realized something wasn’t right, it felt the sudden excruciating pain of its wings being torn off.
The creature let out a raw, deafening screech as it stumbled, its balance shattered, and Ryder took advantage of the momentary distraction to deliver a crushing punch to its spinal cord, sending the monster crumbling to the ground.
Those on the hill gasped, eyes wide like saucers. It was simply unbelievable. Earlier, they had thought it was just luck, but now, they finally admitted Ryder got skills.
His strength even in a human’s form was too overpowered. How about in his wolf form?
As for Reana, her eyes narrowed as she watched him snatch the monster’s head from its neck and tossed it towards its companions. That was a provocation.
The sudden turn of events stunned the wolves of the West Wood Pack as they halted their attacks to watch the stranger.
Meanwhile, the monsters were silent at first, seemingly taken aback by the sudden loss of one of their own. But as the reality of their companion’s demise sank in, a chilling, unearthly screech rose from their ranks, echoing through the territory like a haunting, mournful cry.
All at once, they flew towards Ryder, their dark silhouettes blotting out the faint moon that was being swallowed by the darkness, as if afraid to watch what would happen next.
The air was filled with the sickening stench of blood, dread, decay, and corruption, and the wolves watched in horror as Ryder stood firm, his claws elongated, preparing to face the onslaught alone.
Suddenly, the moon disappeared, throwing the place in total darkness, but that didn’t mean that the wolves couldn’t see what was happening. Their keen senses and supernatural vision allowed them to navigate the darkness with ease.
But for Reana and her group, who were in their human forms, they were plunged into an inky blackness. Furthermore, they were at a good distance, and now, they couldn’t see what was going on.
Reana’s heart hammered in her chest, fear and panic gnawing at her insides. They could hear the mournful screeching of the monsters, but couldn’t see what was happening. She feared for Ryder’s life, more than she’d ever been scared in her life.
By the time the moon showed up again, the Nightwing monsters all lay motionless on the ground, their twisted bodies eerily still in the pale lunar light.
Ryder stood victorious, staring disdainfully at the dead monsters.
The West Wood Pack warriors watched him with eyes filled with horror. One of them even fainted. Only the goddess knew what the wolf saw.
When the news of victory hit the Alpha of the West Wood Pack, his tensed muscles and the knot in his stomach finally relaxed, but upon knowing they were saved by a warrior from the Black Moon Pack, his eyes flashed with greed.
If he could get his hands on that warrior, his pack would be safe from future attacks.
With the thought, he quickly ordered that the best rooms be arranged for them. In the middle of the night, he wanted a feast to be held, to celebrate the warrior, but was advised by his beta, who reminded him that it was midnight.
Normally, he would have frowned at the sight of Luna Reana leading warriors - a man’s job, instead of sitting in the pack, waiting for her Alpha.
But after tonight’s events, he was more than willing to overlook that transgression. In fact, he was eager to curry favor with the Black Moon Pack, and by extension, their mysterious warrior. The Alpha’s smile grew wider as he contemplated the possibilities of winning the warrior to his pack, his mind racing with schemes and alliances.
"Welcome, Luna Reana of the Black Moon Pack. Please, this way," the Alpha said, his voice dripping with warmth and hospitality as he gestured towards the hall.
"Thank you, Alpha Killian, one of my own would love for a healer to look at his wound."
"Of course, of course," the Alpha gestured to one of his pack members, who helped the wounded member of the Black Moon Pack to the healer, accompanied by Mirian and Steve.
As the small group left with the carriage, Alpha Killian’s eyes, however, lingered on Ryder, his gaze burning with a mixture of curiosity and calculation.
Reana’s eyes narrowed slightly, sensing Alpha Killian’s underlying intentions. Her smile grew cold as she nodded faintly, leading her group towards the hall.
...
Seated around the grand feast table, the West Wood Pack’s finest wine and snacks were spread before them.
The Alpha sat in the head seat, while Reana took the seat of honor. Beside her was the Gamma of the West Wood Pack. As for Ryder, he was sitting opposite Reana.
It was obvious that Alpha Killian was treating Ryder as a guest of honor. Not only that, he had the beta sit beside Ryder, while the Gamma sat beside Reana. Not that the sitting arrangement mattered to Reana, but she wasn’t oblivious to the dooming ideas the Alpha was nursing.
The Alpha raised his cup in a toast. "To our honored guests, the brave warriors of the Black Moon Pack! May our packs forever stand together in peace and harmony." His eyes locked onto Ryder, his gaze gleaming with a calculated intensity.
Reana’s eyes frosted over, her gaze icy and unyielding as she zoomed in on the Alpha, the warmth of the festive atmosphere unable to penetrate the chill of her scrutiny.
