MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA
Chapter 222: Helios

Chapter 222: Helios

Meanwhile, Aethera, the acting Moon Goddess, was summoned to a court in the High Hall of Echoes—where grievances amongst deities are laid bare.

She arrived in silence, her light blue robes shimmering like still water under moonlight. Her silver circlet glowed faintly, and her serene and amiable expression was unreadable.

The chamber was filled with Supreme and High gods and goddesses from the three sky palaces and Guardian Tower — the Celestial Palace, Solaris Palace, the Astrum Palace, and God of war from the Guardian Tower.

Unlike the Guardian Tower which didn’t operate like the others and had its own hierarchy system, each of those palaces had Supreme gods and goddesses, High gods and goddesses, and ordinary gods and goddesses.

Moon goddess for example, is the Supreme goddess of the Celestial Palace, Star god is the Supreme lord of the Astrum Palace, and Sun god is the Supreme lord of the Solaris Palace...

As for the God of War, he’s a Supreme god, but his Guardian Tower didn’t have other deities – high and ordinary – just warriors with ranks and assassins – like the shadow guards.

In each Palaces, there were other gods and goddesses below every Supreme deity. Most palaces had at most three high gods and goddesses. For example, Aethera and Mahina are high goddesses, while Arin, goddess of time, was just an ordinary goddess—the higher the responsibility, the higher the rank.

But in councils like this, only the Supreme and High gods and goddesses were allowed. But even so, the seating arrangements and responsibilities in the council told them apart — most times, the high deities were observers and didn’t contribute, but there were few exceptions.

The Supreme and High gods and goddesses all sat on thrones sculpted from the essence of their realms, casting no shadows, but their gazes were weighty, ancient.

At the head of the circular table stood the Seat of Wrath, draped in crimson veils. It was empty. That was the seat for the Heavenly emperor, but it had been vacant for millions of years — after The Great Eclipse Calamity: The Great war that unmade the Emperor.

Of course, the seat was lusted after by every deity —no matter the rank– that had ever appeared; wars were fought, assassination attempts were carried out, but none was able to unveil the seat let alone claim it, thanks to the god of war who restored peace with brute force.

But even so, the deities were still secretly scheming and gawking at the throne of infinite power. It was the reason every palace wanted the god of war on their side. It was also the reason the god of war had to be neutral and couldn’t fall in love or marry anyone from either palaces.

And that was why his son with the Moon goddess paid for his parents’ sins – was abandoned in the mortal realm and had his powers sealed.

But the god of war didn’t abandon his son. He watched him and protected him from the shadows. He allowed Aethera to do what she wanted to his son, not because he was unfeeling, but because every hardship his son underwent only strengthened him.

However, what the father and the deities didn’t see coming, was the monster his son could become, for love. Because he was repeatedly provoked by Aethera, his son destroyed temples and killed worshipers. Not to forget, the sky palaces functioned on mortals’ worship.

Helios’ son didn’t stop at merely destroying places of worship and killing thousands of devotees, he cursed the deities and shook the sky palaces with his fury – even though he didn’t know that his rebellion had greater consequences to the sky heavens.

Seeing that his son wouldn’t stop at nothing to cause disorder in fate –wanting to ressurate his beloved through dark magic– which would have a devastating impact on the wheel of fate and destiny, Helios finally sent him a message through Delion Dray.

His son was promised his beloved at the same time, his demons were extracted from him, but even Helios was stunned at the enormous demons his son accumulated. They couldn’t extract it all, but at least, they extracted just enough to tether his mind back to sanity.

The ritual almost killed him, but since he survived it, his powers were awakened. Helios tried to suppress his powers again, but was met with extreme resistance. If he tried too hard, he could kill his son or turn him into a monster or a demon, so he let go.

Yet, when his son woke up, there was no gratitude in his eyes—only a hollow rage, deepened by betrayal.

Helios watched from his Guardian Tower, silently enduring the bitterness in his son’s glare as Delion Dray delivered the final message: "Let her go and you’ll have all the powers in the world. The mortal realm will be yours to rule." That was just one of the many enticing benefits that was laid down for his son, if only he’d let go of his beloved.

But his son outrightly rejected the proposal and promised vengeance if she was touched. To his son, saving his beloved was a deal he made to an unknown deity, but to Helios, it was a way of protecting him.

But trust his hopeless romantic son, he’d rather see the skies and the earth burn than abandon his beloved for powers. Seeing how obsessed his son was, Helios warned Aethera to leave them alone. She promised she would, but that bitch double-crossed him.

She took the demons extracted from his son and gave it a body. Note, his son was still fumbling with his powers –he didn’t know the extent of what he carried within him, didn’t even know the full truth of his heritage. Yet Aethera, in her pride and arrogance, forged a creature from the worst parts of him—a being born of wrath, grief, and ruin to kill his son.

Worst of all, the creature was sent not only to destroy him, but to replace him. To steal his destiny, to claim his beloved, and ascend in his place. Aethera called it balance. Helios called it betrayal.

Helios could turn a blind eye to many things Aethera had done or will do to his son, but going after his life – attempting to replace his son with a demon – that was crossing the line.
