Chapter 217: Bonus Chapter*

Dark Snow tilted his head, almost curious. For a moment, silence stretched between them, punctuated only by the groaning collapse of the cave.

Then he smiled—a slow, cruel curl of his lips.

"That’s the problem with you," he said deceptively softly. "You beg." He hissed, "You’re an emotional wreck.

He paused, smile widening. "Don’t worry—she’ll be our queen. I won’t kill her. No... I’ll keep her close. Very close."

The words slithered like poison, sinking into Ryder’s bones.

"She’ll see what I am soon enough," he drawled, amused. "And when she does... maybe she’ll love me more than she ever loved you."

Ryder’s heart twisted in his chest, blood pounding in his ears.

But Dark Snow wasn’t done.

He touched the cracked dome, and it shattered like glass under a storm.

With nothing left between them, he stepped over the broken pieces and crouched before Ryder—close enough to breathe in his exhaustion, to taste his pain.

"Do you ever wonder what she’ll think... when she realizes which one of us is inside her after this war is over?"

Slow rage began to bubble inside Ryder. And Dark Snow grinned at that.

"Whose name would she scream? Yours or mine?" Dark Snow chuckled, low and sinister. He leaned close again, voice turning sickly sweet. "Luna Reana... soft, warm, trembling under me. You think she’d fight it at first?"

He asked, head tilted like he was genuinely curious. Then, he shook his head. "She wouldn’t stand a chance. Not when I take my time. I’d make her beg, Snow. I’d take her apart piece by piece..."

Ryder’s muscles tensed. His jaw locked. A slow, molten rage began to bubble beneath his skin.

Dark Snow saw it—and grinned.

Let it go, Dark Snow urged silently. Lose control. Just once. Let me in.

But beneath the chaos, a low, steady voice stirred in Ryder’s mind.

’He wants you angry,’ his wolf whispered. ’He wants you blind.’

Ryder’s heart thudded. The wolf’s voice was calm, grounding him.

He feeds on fury. Don’t give him what he wants.

Dark Snow leaned closer, lips by Ryder’s ear. "She’ll beg for me, Snow. And you’ll be trapped inside me... forced to watch."

Ryder’s hands dug into the dirt, shaking, blood pooling beneath his fingertips. His breathing grew ragged—each breath a war.

He couldn’t stop the rage. He was losing control.

Nature picked up around them, trees bending, and the sky grew dark.

’Snow, don’t!’ His wolf growled, wanting to take over, but Ryder locked it in.

"... I’ll stretch her limbs across the bed, whisper filth into her ear until her soul cracks..." he continued.

A low growl rose from Ryder’s throat. His eyes flickered, flashing between pain and fury.

"... and when she cries?" Dark Snow licked his lips, mocking. "I’ll make her cry harder. Every. Single. Night. She’ll bent the way I want her. Writh the way I want her—"

Snap.

A sharp snap sounded.

Ryder’s claws shot out of his trembling hands, elongating in one clean motion—long, curved, glowing with a searing white underworldly light that hummed with divine rage. The ground beneath him pulsed. The wind halted and the debris suspended in the air. Even the dust shuddered.

Dark Snow paused for just a second. His eyes flashed with glee. With excitement.

"Oh? Is that the best you’ve got?" Dark Snow taunted, tilting his head as he glanced at Ryder’s trembling, glowing claws. "Those little toys? You don’t get tired of using them?"

Then, he leaned in again, breath cold against Ryder’s ear. "Maybe I’ll mark her today. You haven’t marked her, have you?" He grinned. "I know you didn’t. Maybe I’ll do it while she’s still sobbing your name."

Ryder’s head lifted, slowly. His eyes, bloodshot but defiant, met Dark Snow’s piercing blue stare.

He didn’t speak.

He didn’t scream.

He breathed calmly.

Dark Snow’s smile faltered.

"You’re not breaking?" he asked, tone shifting. "Why?"

Ryder’s lips curled—not in a smile, but something far more dangerous.

"Because I’m done feeding monsters," he rasped.

In a movement so swift it tore the air, Ryder’s arm shot up, and his glowing claws sank straight into Dark Snow’s forehead.

A wet, sickening crack echoed through the chamber.

Dark Snow’s breath hitched.

His eyes went wide with disbelief.

The claws burned through bone and shadow, cracking the ethereal seal within him – the very cord – his life force.

Something ancient shattered inside his skull. And for the first time, Dark Snow’s expression saw fear.

"...No," he rasped, voice hollow, cracking. "You–"

But it was too late.

The light expanded, bursting through every inch of his being.

With a final, strangled gasp, his form crumbled into dark smoke and scattered into the air.

Silence fell.

And so did Ryder.

The mountain groaned—a deep, thunderous wail that echoed across the frozen peaks.

Then, in one terrible instant, the entire cave broke free from its spine in the mountain. The earth trembled as stone and fire collided in a deafening avalanche. A monstrous cloud of dust surged outward like a scream, devouring everything in its path.

Those watching from below stood frozen, horrified. No one spoke. No one moved.

Only silence.

Reana’s eyes went wide. Her lips parted, but no sound came out.

"No," she mouthed.

Her vision blurred. The world tilted. And all strength drained from her limbs.

Marcus was the first to move. He caught her before she hit the ground.

"Get her inside," he barked, voice tight with panic. "Now!"

His team surrounded her in an instant, shielding her from the sea of shocked onlookers. Someone threw off their cloak to wrap around her trembling form.

They raced through the halls, the silence following like a shadow.

Each step echoed with grief.

...

Reana opened her eyes to a dimly lit chamber. Her mind was blank for a moment before the memory from earlier crawled back in full.

She abruptly sat up with a gasp.

"Luna," Marcus and the others instantly rose to their feet.

They’ve been watching after her since that afternoon...after their return from trying to search the rubble.

"Where is he?" she whispered.
