MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA -

Chapter 171: Time To Meet Luna Reana
The intruder’s steps drifted closer and closer. The closer it got, the more Reana’s eyebrows furrowed.
It wasn’t the steps she was familiar with. It didn’t sound like the omegas’ heavy steps, nor Kira’s light movement. No guards came into her chambers, let alone her room.
She glanced down at Ryder, and then at the door.
The steps halted by her door and an underworldly energy surged into the room, sending a chill down Reana’s spine.
Her heart quickened, her hackles raising as she wondered who it was. She tried to pick the scent but the person had no scent. Her hand reached under her pillow and she pulled out a glittering dagger and clutched it tightly, posing to throw it at any moment.
The knob turned and the door creaked softly.
Reana waited with bated breath, her pulse quickened and her eyes focused, dagger raised.
"You shouldn’t be here." An unfamiliar voice broke the silence.
Reana stiffened. The voice was female, low and quiet, almost regretful. But there was no mistaking the underlying warning in her tone.
"Who are you? Show yourself." Reana whispered.
"Of course. But are you willing to give me your life, or his?"
Reana’s grip tightened around the dagger. The words were cold, chilling, but it was the finality in the stranger’s voice that made her pulse race faster. She could hear the faint rustle of fabric, the sound of something moving just outside her line of sight. The intruder was too close now.
"Why?" Reana’s voice was steady despite the threat, her mind racing for any advantage she could find. "Who are you to take his life?"
For a moment, there was only silence. The tension in the air was thick enough to be cut with a knife. Reana strained to listen, but the strange figure remained hidden behind the door. She couldn’t pick up any sound or any life. It felt as if she was gone.
"Because," the woman’s voice suddenly sounded again. It was low with a dangerous edge. "He’s a threat to us all. He shouldn’t exist."
With that, the door creaked open further, but just as the woman was about to enter, the space inside the room rippled and a figure clad in black appeared out of nowhere.
The cloaked figure’s presence commanded the air, as though the very space around it bowed in reverence.
Reana’s hand froze, the dagger still clutched in her palm. Her instincts screamed at her to run. Even her wolf shrank back in fear, but she couldn’t move. Not with Ryder on her thigh.
The woman who had been threatening her fell silent, her energy recoiling as if recognizing the undeniable authority of the newcomer.
The cloaked figure’s face was hidden beneath a hood, but the eyes that glimmered through the shadows were unmistakable. It was glowing with an intensity that could not be ignored.
"I’m afraid," his voice was deep, smooth, and almost otherworldly, "you’re not welcome here."
Reana’s breath hitched. Who was this person? Was he here to protect or to claim?
The mysterious woman, once so bold and threatening, seemed to shrink back, her hand leaving the door knob, as her confidence evaporated with it. "Who are you?" she asked, her voice now lacking the earlier venom.
The cloaked figure took another step forward, their movements fluid, like liquid darkness. He walked past the door. Reana couldn’t see anything except the figure’s flowing cloak.
"You don’t need to know," came the response, as cold and final as the void itself. "But you’re about to understand why you or anyone else is not allowed to take what’s not yours."
A gust of air swept through the room, the energy crackling as if reality itself was being bent to figure’s will. The temperature dropped even lower, the chill in the room seeping into Reana’s bones, yet she couldn’t look away from the scene unfolding before her.
"You don’t control me," the woman hissed, but her words were less certain, now tinged with fear. "You also shouldn’t be here."
"Perhaps," the figure replied, voice a low growl. "But I do control this room." With that, the air shifted again, and a shimmer of energy rippled through the room like an invisible wave.
The stranger recoiled, almost stumbling back. "No... It can’t be you."
Reana’s heart pounded in her chest. She glanced down at Ryder, still sleeping, unaware of the battle that was unfolding just feet away from him.
"What do you want?" the woman demanded, though it was clear she already knew who the cloaked man was, and that she was at a disadvantage.
The figure in black didn’t answer immediately. Instead, a pair of hands emerged from the folds of the cloak, revealing gleaming, silver claws that caught the light in a way that seemed unnatural, otherworldly.
"The same thing you want from him," and with that, the cloaked figure’s hand thrust forward and a shriek from the woman followed before silence descended in the room.
Reana’s heart leaped to her throat. She was tempted to go out and see what was happening, but at the same time, her instinct told her to stay put.
...
Meanwhile, deep in the woods, the masked man stood there, gazing into the horizon. The drizzling now clung to his blue cloak like sparkles on clothes.
He saw it all. The terror extended to the woods and he felt the energy.
"Who was it?" He mumbled.
Who was it that shared the same powers as him? He didn’t think there was someone like him out there. And to think that person resided in the Black Moon Pack...
His eyes narrowed. Was it the same person who destroyed the hundreds of warriors who went out with Victor? Did that person have connections with the fiery red wolf?
He shut his eyes, suspending the thoughts for now.
His beta was taking too long now. He was back to the pack, yet hasn’t come to report to him. Without his report, they wouldn’t be able to carry out a successful attack on the Black Moon Pack.
Perhaps, it was time he paid an official visit to the Black Moon Pack. Perhaps, it was time he met that woman, Luna Reana.
