MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA -
Chapter 104: Stolen Identity
Chapter 104: Stolen Identity
"Seers are rare. Have you met them?"
Reana’s eyes narrowed her ability was a secret and she was sure she’d not divulge it to anyone.
As she watched Ryder intently, their eyes clashed, and a maddeningly smug smile spread across his face – a smile that seemed to suggest that he may have a clue.
But Reana adamantly refused to acknowledge the possibility. No matter how she thought about it, he couldn’t – wouldn’t know – her secret.
Perhaps he was just being naughty, teasing her once more. After all, Ryder had always been a daring and fearless servant, constantly pushing boundaries and testing limits with her.
Not that she hated it.
Ryder nodded calmly, his lips curling into a smile. "Yes... I believed she was the seer of this generation, but..." He clicked his tongue, a hint of intrigue dancing in his eyes, "I could be wrong too."
Reana’s curiosity was piqued. "Where did you meet her?" she asked, her voice tinged with a mix of fascination and wariness.
"Years ago, on one of my adventures," he said, his tone ambiguous.
Reana nodded calmly, a wave of relief washing over her – it wasn’t her he was referring to.
But what she didn’t know was that Ryder had deliberately crafted his response to be vague.
In truth, he had known of Reana’s ability from Shadow One, whom he gave the task of finding Reana in this lifetime.
When he received the report that his Luna possessed the rare gift of sight, and was the only daughter of Alpha Roughman of the Black Moon Pack, a family that had gone against him in his previous lifetime, Ryder abandoned his duties as an Alpha and came down to the Black Moon Pack.
If indeed she was a seer, then, she needed protection from the enemies that would inevitably come knocking, and her Black Moon Pack would not be enough to protect her from the troubles that would arise if her secret was to be revealed.
To be by Reana’s side, to woo and protect her, Alpha Snow knew he couldn’t reveal his true identity. Coincidentally, he rescued a young man from the jaws of monsters in the woods, and the young man, Ryder, happened to be a member of the Black Moon Pack.
But unfortunately, the guy had little interest in life, otherwise he wouldn’t venture into the monsters’ territory.
Ryder snorted. What a fool.
He wasn’t even known in his own pack, despite being with them for ten years – he was a clueless freak, crying over the death of his parents.
How could a grown ass man be so tender, so fragile?
Since he didn’t treasure what he had, Alpha Snow snatched his identity and sent him off to reunite with his parents.
"Luna!" Kira’s voice shattered the silence, drawing Ryder back to the present. His gaze met Reana’s, her eyes fixed intently on him, as if she had been studying his every thought.
Ryder’s face broke into a charming grin as he snuggled deeper into Reana’s stomach. He looked spoiled but adorable, and Reana’s lips twitched into a subtle, amused smile.
The tent flap swung open, and Kira stepped inside, her gaze sweeping over the intimate scene before her. Reana and Ryder’s close proximity was nothing new, however, and Kira’s expression remained neutral. "Luna, the scouts have returned. The West Wood Pack is peaceful, with no reported monster attacks, but there is an issue – the road is blocked."
Reana had dispatched a handful of warriors to assess the situation at the West Wood Pack. She preferred to avoid encountering them in the midst of battling monsters, and if fate dealt them another cruel hand, as it had before, Reana would wait it out.
She had no intention of involving Ryder in their affairs anymore. Alpha Killian’s mistake had earned his pack Reana’s anger, and in her eyes, they deserved to suffer the consequences.
Ryder’s brow furrowed in concern. "This is the only route back to our pack. What reason could the West Wood Pack have to block it?"
Reana’s silence hung in the air, her expression inscrutable. When she finally spoke, her voice was measured and detached. "Send a messenger to Alpha Killian. Inform him that I require the road to be opened. Should he refuse, make it clear that his transgressions will not be tolerated."
Kira bowed her head respectfully. "Yes, Luna." With that, she turned and departed.
Meanwhile, Alpha Killian, blissfully unaware of the wrath he had unwittingly provoked in Luna Reana, sat in his study, when his beta arrived with the urgent message.
As his beta relayed the message, Alpha Killian’s face contorted in rage. "Who does she think she is?!" he thundered, his arms slashing outward in a furious arc, sending everything within reach crashing to the floor. Anger and frustration rolling off his body.
"Alpha, please, calm down," his beta ventured, cautious.
"Don’t dare tell me to calm down!" Alpha Killian’s voice thundered, his fury reaching a boiling point. "It was your idea to offer her resources and money, claiming she’d view us more favorably, but now she’s threatening me after I’ve given her what she wanted?!"
The beta held his tongue for a moment, choosing his words carefully. "I’m sure she’s unaware of your... arrangements, Alpha. Remember, she’s just returned from the other pack; she may not have all the facts."
Hearing those words, Alpha Killian’s expression shifted, his anger finally giving way to realization...
His beta’s words struck a chord, but Alpha Killian’s irritation still simmered as he let out an irritated hiss.
He had blocked the road so that when she approached his territory, he’d be informed immediately, allowing him to intercept and speak with her.
Yet, she overreacted, making a mountain out of a molehill.
Still fuming at the audacity of a she-wolf daring to threaten him, Alpha Killian growled at his beta, "Handle this situation. I don’t want her anywhere near me."
The beta watched his Alpha storm out of his study and sighed with exasperation. He was starting to regret why he supported Killian over his brother. If the Alpha continued down this reckless path, he’d be the one to bring about their West Wood Pack’s downfall.
