Chapter 271: Episode 25.2 Meet Wu Jin

Chapter 271: Episode 25.2 Meet Wu Jin

A few moments ago, in the Subway Dungeon.

Things flowed swimmingly right after Shen Yuan left. Probably because everyone’s feelings soared after Shen Yuan said those words of encouragement, or maybe the operation Shen Yuan put in place was too efficient, everyone could agree that this was the fastest and easiest dungeon dive they ever participated in.

Now, the Twilight Guild’s logistics are moving the carcasses of the D-class bloodhounds. The Subway Dungeon’s dominant monsters are these bloody canine monsters, so it is not surprising that the moving vehicles are filled with hills of them.

"I can’t believe it only took another two hours for the mana level to return to a stable level. Did you hire a high-level hunter to help you?" Admiral Wu Jin couldn’t help but ask the guild master of the Twilight Guild.

The guild master humbly laughed, "No, Admiral Wu Jin. Purchasing new security equipment pulled our finances in the red. We can’t hire an A-class awakener to boost our combat power. If there’s anything— I mean anyone who boosted our power, then it is—"

The guild master could not finish his sentence due to the silly giggling that could be heard around them.

"I see. Shen Yuan’s psyched you up," Admiral Wu Jin continued the guild master’s sentence, sounding a little hopeless. Really? A bunch of male alphas giggling? He had only seen such a childish smile from his niece when talking about his favorite idol; she is twelve years old, by the way!

It didn’t occur to him that these tough-looking men would fanboy over Shen Yuan.

"I’m sorry about that, Admiral. That is too unprofessional," The guild master respectfully apologized for his slip-up. The others around him are also apologetic. They bowed their heads in unison.

"No, it was understandable. I once heard a ridiculous study within the army that aims to explore the possible synergy that could happen once you put an omega and alpha in the same group. The participating alphas showed an outstanding boost in their moral and mental health. The rate of going into mania was also lessened during the study. However, the research was dropped halfway by the higher-ups."

Everyone was baffled at the sudden twist. "Why?"

"Because the participating omegas became pregnant during the experiment. The entire research turned into a matchmaking ceremony, and that threw the research direction off, so the higher-ups decided to stop everything."

The agents and hunters alike are stunned and stupid at the end. They didn’t see that coming!

Well, if one were to think of it. Alpha and omegas are naturally attracted to each other, so the development of these was not unreasonable. However, using this example, everyone felt slightly wronged by Admiral Wu Jin’s meaning.

"But Admiral Wu, we just genuinely admired Shen Yuan!" One alpha hunter protested. He totally forgot that he’s facing someone from the top .01% of their country’s awakeners. Well, with all honesty, of all S-class awakeners, Wu Jin’s aura is less threatening to others. His easy-going face made him popular and approachable to everyone, regardless of age and gender. A true man’s man.

"Yeah!" Another one chirped in. "We were just in awe of him for a very long time! He’s my favorite model. Nothing more!"

"Seriously though, the moment I’ve laid my eyes on him and his cute son. My heart almost melted, and my body felt light, like I’d been injected with chicken blood! Do good-looking people have magic spells in their faces?"

The original meeting became a tribal banquet of these bulky warriors. Once, someone quoted that if the world is filled with nobody but alphas, the world may probably be shaken off of its axis. That best describes the situation now.

"Admiral Wu? Don’t you think Shen Yuan is attractive too?" One alpha asked Wu Jin, and it immediately caused goosebumps in him.

It’s not because he was caught off guard by the question; instead, he is repulsive to the idea of being attracted to Shen Yuan. Yes, Shen Yuan is a good person, in his opinion. But he has many qualities that make him want to run away.

Not only is Shen Yuan his buddy’s beloved spouse. He genuinely thinks that Shen Yuan is too much to handle.

Seriously though, even if he has three balls in his ball sack, he is not confident he could manage the omega who singlehandedly shut up the overbearing Madonna of the Mo family and toe-to-toe with Chairman Mao in sparring.

"Absolutely not," Admiral Wu Jin said firmly. Everyone froze and fell silent.

"I see, t-then. We will be resuming our work, Admiral." The guild master excused himself, so the others left, too.

Meanwhile, Wu Jin was left wondering about his love life. Thinking about it, he never really liked anyone in his life. Forget about strong-headed omegas like Mo Zhu and Shen Yuan; he never went out even with the cutest and sweetest omega his family had had had set up for him.

But it is also incorrect to assume he’s not attracted to anyone. He has someone he instinctively searches for whenever he’s in City B. However, that person was too plain and normal to be noticeable, and Wu Jin himself was unsure if he liked that person.

"Shit! I’m immersing myself in the relaxed world that Shen Yuan created. I should help them pack up so I could go home early!" Wu Jin snapped himself out of his reverie and immediately went outside.

"Meow!" Suddenly, Wu Jin heard the milky voice of a cat. It caught his attention, so he marched towards the broken bench where it was hiding.

"Hello, kitty! Kitty! Your fur is so black I almost didn’t see you," Wu Jin playfully greeted the black cat, cowering in the shadows. Its bright irises and elongated pupils flashed a threatening gleam.

"Don’t be afraid, Kitty! Are you lost? Come here, I can send you out. It is not safe for you."

Wu Jin tried to reach for the cat, but to his dismay, it dodged him.

"Why is there a cat here? Last time I checked, non-mutated animals tend to avoid places near the dungeons. They don’t respond well to the high levels of mana. So weird," The clueless admiral muttered to himself.

Unlike Bai Tingfeng, who has a sharp sense of danger, Wu Jin has zero danger sensitivity. It didn’t occur to him that this cat could be a hidden opponent.

"Hey, Kitty!" Wu Jin tried once again. However, this time, the cat seemed to realize that he wouldn’t stop bothering it. Thus, he attacked the admiral with its sharp claws.

"Meow!" It slashed Wu Jin’s hand, but instead of tearing the flesh on the alpha’s hand, its claws connected with a viscous fluid rotating at high speed around his arm!

Wu Jin has zero sense of danger, but that is for a very powerful reason.

He belongs to the Wu family, blessed by the mythical Black Tortoise. The defensive ability that came with his awakened powers was second to none. Nobody in the great four families could easily chip away his water armor.

"This water gauntlet is made of natural water and magical water, supposedly indestructible to physical and magical attacks," Wu Jin’s friendly tone was gone. He then raised the hand that was attacked and saw the thin crack on the water’s surface there. "But you managed to do this in one slash. Who are you, kitty-kitty? Those black claws of yours don’t seem to be normal."

The cat tyrannically stared at Wu Jin. Its gaze didn’t get fazed even when the alpha let out his threatening mana and pheromones.

This undoubtedly attracted the attention of others, so people are heading towards them one by one.

"Stop! Don’t go any further!" Wu Jin warned the others.

The cat revealed a devilish smirk, and before Wu Jin could predict its next move, it darted toward him at a bullet-like speed!

"Hey!" Wu Jin screamed, and in almost a split second, he conjured a massive bastard sword made of water.

If Bai Tingfeng was a master specializing in aura, Wu Jin is what people call a magic swordsman. He can use flashy magic spells, conjure weapons through magic, and exhibit unparalleled swordsmanship.

Wu Jin was supposed to be able to cut the cat into two. However, its streamlined body changed its position midair, missing the water blade by just a breath.

"Damn it!" Admiral Wu Jin’s sleeping intelligence awakens this time. This black cat! It should be the one in Shen Yuan’s report!

"Everyone, put up your strongest defense! We have one of the cardinals—" Admiral Wu tried to warn the others, but before he could complete his warning, the ominous black cat darted all over the place, running and jumping on the walls and columns of the subway, its claws leaving thin lines.

’He’s planning to collapse this whole place!’ Wu Jin screamed in his head.

Instantly, his body reacted before his mind could process it. He threw his body toward the center of the subway just in time for the entire infrastructure to collapse.

’Ah, I shouldn’t have agreed to Shen Yuan’s request,’ he murmured at the corner of his mind before the ceiling closed on his face.

Wu Jin secretly prays that his sacrifice will not be in vain.
