Chapter 261: Episode 24.2 The Busy Lives Of Bai Family
Director Song and Chairman Mao were utterly clueless about the conversation between Shen Yuan and the qilin.
Because the moment they sent the Bai family to the parking lot, Chairman Mao picked up his husband and ran faster than a roadrunner. He then locked them in the director’s office, trapping them inside the intense longing for the six hours that they missed each other.
Of course, nothing R-19 happened. Song Dingxiang wouldn’t let anything taint the place where he was doing his sacred work.
Instead, they talked about how their day went, just like any regular couple. But if there’s one thing they can discuss as it becomes a part of their day, it is Shen Yuan’s family.
"What do you think of the Bai family’s little prince?" Chairman Mao casually asked his husband as he enjoyed the feeling of Director Song’s legs on his head.
Letting his thigh be used as a cushion is the only consolation Song Dingxiang could offer to stop Chairman Mao from quaking about unfairness, just like a duck in a slaughterhouse.
With a helpless look, Director Song replied, half-sighing. "Yanyan is growing up cutely, and I could see he’s going to be a remarkable student."
Chairman Mao shook his head, rubbing it on Director Song’s thighs. He’s secretly pleased with what he’s doing. "You know that’s not what I meant. You’re known for having the most beautiful eyes capable of spotting talents. I am wondering, can you see Yanyan growing up like his powerful parents?"
Chairman Mao’s question made Director Song purse his lips.
"Foretelling if he will become an S-class awakener is beyond me. I don’t know if he will experience what his father is experiencing now, but let me tell you this: Yanyan is a fascinating kid. Visually, he got his looks from charming daddy, but in aspects of character, he’s got the best of his parents. He will break through faster than his parents."
Laying on his side, Chairman Mao smiled contentedly and rubbed his cheeks on his husband’s thighs passionately. His bright eyes are looking up to Director Song.
"Glad to hear that. That kid experienced a lot of things that kids of his age wouldn’t. It would be great if he gained strength from all those hardships."
"I think so, too," Director Song replied.
He slapped Chairman Mao’s exposed left cheek, creating a crispy sound.
"What?!"
"Your face is hovering in front of a dangerous place. Get off."
"No! I don’t want to! This is just an innocent skinship!"
"Since when did skinships become innocent?" From then on, Chairman Mao and Director Song wrestled each other on the office’s lava couch. It was a relief that it was considerably wide, or else they would be rolling on the floor now.
They might be past their prime, but with Chairman Mao’s playfulness and vigorous physique being both S-class awakener and alpha, they looked like new couples who had just entered their honeymoon phase.
"Director Song Dingxiang, are you here?!" Suddenly, a translucent figure shot through the Director’s Office.
It was the Qilin.
The elder couple froze like sculptures and stupidly looked at the newcomer. The two are straddling each other— absolutely not a pose one would like to be seen by others.
The worry-filled Yuqi also froze. Her initial concern was instantly forgotten.
"I’m sorry. I should have knocked before going in," She explained hurriedly while shooting a sneaky look at the couple.
’Don’t be distracted! Don’t be distracted!’ the qilin chanted inside her head like a prayer. It is hard to fangirl when you have to do something meaningful, and there’s a big distraction waving at you. "You can stay where you are and scissor each other’s legs. I have one request. I heard something interesting from Shen Yuan. Can you tell me what’s happening outside the school?"
Chairman Mao and Director Song exchanged glances at each other. It was weird that the great spirit who only stayed within the school grounds would ask about the situation outside, but in the end, Director Song nodded his head.
"Okay. What do the great spirits want to know?" Director Song punched his husband’s ripped stomach and silently mouthed. "Get off of me!"
"No! It’s okay, you can do my request while in that position. I don’t want to trouble you," The Qilin said before Chairman Mao could move.
’Something is weird with the great spirit!’ The couple screamed inside their heads. If only they could hear each other’s thoughts, they would realize how much they fit each other.

Having Yanyan’s schooling and Bai Tingfeng’s power issue sorted, the lives of the Bai Family ushered in a busy schedule.
Yanyan focused on improving his reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, while his father, Bai Tingfeng, continued the hellish training method that he got from the Qilin. He’s working overtime every day as his scheduled dungeon dive is fast approaching.
For them, their days pass by like a peregrine falcon— super fast and super hectic.
In the middle of this hectic life is the lone celestial fox spirit, experiencing the harsh reality of a working and hands-on mom.
"As long as the surveillance continues, we are good. I never expected to say this, but hell, for the first time, I appreciate that old man Mao’s meddling. Thank goodness he sent additional personnel to our squad. I finally get to see you all," Shen Yuan commented as his head was buried between papers.
The fact that he showed that he was alive and kicking means that he was healthy enough to resume his work— or so Chairman Mao believed.
Work came in like a tsunami, and Shen Yuan had no choice but to be swept up like a piece of uprooted seaweed.
The only consolation that makes him happy is that he is permitted to work off-site since the work he’s dealing with is mainly paperwork. This gave him the flexibility he needed for the busy season of their family.
"Leader Shen, did you miss us?" Li An asked Shen Yuan with a smile. He entered the study in a steady and leisurely stride, totally different from the first time he met his leader in this house. The nervousness was gone. Following him was Qin Mian, holding another stack of paper.
"Not really," Shen Yuan smilingly answered without blinking. "I’m just relieved I have someone who took over my assistant’s work now that Gu Jinpeng is on medical leave."
Li An laughed.
Just in time, Wen Huian raised her hand, attracting the attention of the celestial fox spirit.
"What is it?" Shen Yuan asked his second in command. After his return, he assigned the female alpha to handle the incoming work for him. She’s his secretary now that they are absolved from stakeout missions and guarding the celebrities potentially connected to the Wei family the Cardinals are targeting.
"Chairman Mao sent an email. He said the Qilin Academy and Qilin University will bolster their security this coming school year, so you don’t have to worry about Yanyan. Also..." Wen Huian bit her lip as if stopping herself from saying the next word.
"Go on, tell me," Shen Yuan encouraged his underling. "Chairman Mao and I are friends. It’s normal for us to shoot each other below-the-belt banters."
The female alpha’s face flushed. "Chairman Mao said that your porn recommendation is anticipated. Don’t let the esteemed one wait for it."
"Huh?!"
"Ehem! Ehem!"
Everyone looked at Shen Yuan, shocked. Qin Mian choked on his saliva while Li An couldn’t help but jump on his seat.
"That old man! He is only a few years from being eaten by worms, but he never learned to be decent!" Shen Yuan’s eyes are practically white due to his exasperated eye-roll. "Hu Feng," He called his beta subordinate. Out of all the four present, he is the only one who seems unperturbed by the scandalous exposition.
But was he really?
"Please get paper bags over there," Shen Yuan pointed at the bag from a famous clothing line that’s lonely, sitting in front of a bookshelf. "Then send it to the Director Song of Qilin Academy."
That paper bag contains the BL books he bought and read for the Qilin. All hot, steamy, and angsty BL novels. He slipped a rare alpha X alpha troupe to educate the innocent qilin about the dynamics between two dominant men. That spirit’s eyes will surely pop due to happiness.
Hu Feng almost mechanically nodded his head. He picked the bag up and immediately ran out of the study.
"Wait, did I just see Hu Feng blush for the first time?" Li An exclaimed.
Working and multitasking was a trivial chore for Shen Yuan; thus, aside from Chairman Mao’s annoyances from time to time, Shen Yuan’s work went swimmingly.
During breaks, Shen Yuan will teach his son and take special care of their new pet panda. His morning is packed and extraordinarily tiring, but it gives him a feeling of fulfillment. That is enough for him to be happy.
Not to mention, every night, he’s been blessed with a spectacular sight that’s only meant for him. The bustling days he’s having is a blessing in disguise.
"Are you ready for your second session?" asked Shen Yuan as he twirled a handcuff using his finger. He slowly approached Bai Tingfeng and straddled the latter on the bed. "We’ve got to work harder since the spiritual pills are running out."
