"Your Eminence," the man called Rin in a light, almost cordial tone. He hopped from one tree to another with an exemplary display of his athleticism until he landed just beside the pink-haired omega. "Hmp!" Rin harrumphed. He must admit that lightning struck him upon seeing Shen Yuan for the first time. He didn’t expect that his troublesome target and the biggest headache of their organization would turn out to be a peerless beauty.

It made him restless!

A devious smile played on his lips. He wasn’t keen on using pawns from a different faction, but for the sake of his plot, he is willing to look the other way for once.

"Hahaha," The pink-haired omega laughed thunderously. "That poor man will surely come running to us. I mean, who would want to continue suffering from that white flame."

"And you," He studied the subordinate he sent to look at Shen Yuan closely. "Position yourself where you could easily slay Shen Yuan. That bitch is not an easy target. Aside from his husband, there are other powerful awakeners around him. Don’t get your cover blown."

Rin glared at the mysterious man.

"Understood, Your Eminence," The man placed his right palm over his heart. "I will follow your teachings for cases like this: Not so close yet, not so far. Never let the cunning target know that you are after him."

Rin smirked with satisfaction and dismissed his subordinate.

Now that everything is set in his end. He will ensure he completes his task as the cardinal with a bang.

"You are rejected goods, Shen Yuan. You should have died when the summoning fell through," he murmured for the last time before transforming into a black cat and disappearing into the silent shadows of the night.

The news of last night’s incident reached the sharp and far-fetching ears of Rong Suyin before the sun made its full appearance.

"So, the bamboo forest that I painstakingly put together was now a bald land, huh? Bai Tingfeng?" The smiling face of the omega greeted his son in one video call in the morning.

The big, muscular alpha internally shivered when he saw that seemingly harmless smile. That is an evil omen. No, the fact that his dad called him in his full name already spells trouble for him.

"En," Bai Tingfeng answered meekly.

Rong Suyin felt a little touched upon seeing the remorseful expression on his son’s face. If he were this well-behaved, he wouldn’t mind letting this incident pass.
