Master Bai! This Celestial Fox Spirit Is Asking For Divorce -
Chapter 168: Episode 14.11 Shameless Honesty
Chapter 168: Episode 14.11 Shameless Honesty
Shame and injustice are painted vividly in the flushed frowning of Shen Zhaohui.
If it is because an omega beat his sorry ass or two overgrown felines with icicle claws played him on the ground like some pet toy, Shen Yuan doesn’t know.
The celestial fox spirit was too amused at the pathetic sight to ask his supposed "father" in this world to even care to ask.
The father and son were inside Shen Zhaohui’s office for a final heart-to-heart talk, but neither side spoke for the past few minutes.
Shen Yuan savored the aftertaste of his revenge as long as he could. Meanwhile, Shen Zhaohui refuses to talk because he’s barely keeping himself together after the humiliation that he experienced. It didn’t even help that his youngest son looked at him with gloating eyes.
Bam!
Shen Zhaohui could no longer handle the awkwardness and slammed his table hard. It rattles the pens and other office stuff resting on top of it.
"Yuan! Stop stalling for time and say what you want to say!"
Shen Yuan blinked his eyes to make it seem like he was innocent.
"Alright, you don’t have to shout, Father," he said, sarcastic. "I’m ready to say it to you at any time. Besides, I’m sure you know what I wanted. Nothing changed in my demands."
Shen Zhaohui’s flushed face turned dark, "And you know my answer to that—"
"Of course," Shen Yuan interrupted his alpha father. "And you are aware that your answer doesn’t hold any control over my decisions."
The apathetic alpha just shook his head, full of dissatisfaction.
Shen Zhaohui may not speak, but Shen Yuan was sure that this tall, bullheaded father of the original was still firm in his demands.
Shen Yuan sighed, "You know, Father. I realized one striking similarity between the two of us during the short encounter that we had. We are the type of people who know exactly what they want and are painfully stubborn to get whatever it is."
"Sure, that is natural. I am father anyways."
Father? The celestial fox spirit who lived for thousands of years internally rolled his eyes. The words: "You’re way too young to be my father" are dangling at the tip of his tongue. But considering his current vessel’s background, he just let that pass since calling Shen Zhaohui’s father is appropriate.
"And that similarity is not necessarily a good thing because, with our doggedness, we will keep clashing until time immemorial."
Shen Yuan tried to look genuine as he stared at Shen Zhaohui’s eyes. The alpha seemed to have something to say as a response, but due to the soulful eyes of his son, he took a deep breath and let Shen Yuan continue.
"Fighting each other like this will only make our estranged relationship more messy, and quite frankly, what I felt towards you when I first saw you after years and under the effects of my amnesia was unadulterated hate and irritation."
It was an impulsive decision, but based on his experience in handling prideful and stubborn men like the alpha he’s facing, there’s only one method that could make Shen Zhaohui stop: shameless honesty.
A dull pain assaulted his chest when he heard his youngest omega son hated him. But instead of sulking, the prideful head of the Shen family creased his forehead and looked like he was about to spit fire any second. "Is this why you never listened to me in the first place, Yuan?"
A spark of realization ignited behind the stern face of Shen Zhoahui. "I told you a lot of times it wasn’t my fault that your Daddy vanished. He just left you... us... without saying anything."
"Father, that matter is at the back of memories. I wasn’t clear why I hated you because I couldn’t remember most of what happened before my reawakening— but something struck me during my first meeting with you. You’ve got tons of problems, personality-wise."
"Excuse me?" Shen Zhaohui doesn’t have time to have other reactions besides being dumbfounded. His initial anger subsided slightly.
Shen Yuan took this reaction as a question to explain his latter statement, so he was happy to point out what made him want to slash Shen Zhaohui’s face with his sharp claws.
"You are far too controlling to be agreeable. You’re not the kind of parent who listens before giving orders—not requests— to their child, which frankly sucks. It’s evident in your words before that you’re underestimating me just because I’m omega. You said that I can’t have a higher position because of secondary sex. Why? You don’t have any trust in your own flesh and blood?"
Shen Yuan crossed his arms over his chest. "It turns out your confidence with the genes of the Shen family is just toe-deep."
"What?" Shen Zhaohui’s eyes suddenly shook, the same way his clenched fist trembled.
The young omega before him triggered a warm, distant memory that laid dormant because of his long, frozen heart.
"Is your trust in our genes just toe-deep? Alpha, beta, or omega doesn’t matter. Once our baby is born, he will grow up strong and beautiful. He would surely be more beautiful than the two of us combined. And who knows, maybe he would be your biggest karma, my cold-hearted CEO." a beautiful omega with porcelain-like skin said while caressing his big, pregnant belly.
His voice is ringing like a well-orchestrated symphony that thugs to anyone’s heartstrings, "I could imagine that you would never win an argument with him, Zhaohui-ge."
It’s his husband, Shanyuan.
Shen Zhaohui could still remember long platinum-blonde hair falling like spider webs against the subtle rays of the sun. It’s the most beautiful memory that he had before their relationship shifted.
And revisiting that now made Shen Zhaohui’s frozen heart show a slight crack.
"Hey! Earth to Father Shen? Are you still there?" The familiar voice of his youngest son woke him from his beautiful recollection, and there he saw his youngest son leaning forward at the table and waving his hand in front of his face.
The oversized coat that Shen Yuan is wearing is revealing a good amount of skin, poking the perfectionist and conservative side of Shen Zhaogui.
"Yuan... How often do I have to tell you to be mindful of how you conduct yourself?" Shen Zhaohui pushed the hand away.
The celestial fox spirit, oblivious to the cold-hearted alpha’s reminiscence, sighed, "I’m just trying to pull you back to reality, Father. You know what? Let’s stop right here because we are not going anywhere. As long as you won’t meddle in my affairs, directly and indirectly—"
"Fine," Shen Zhaohui interrupted in his firm voice. That is his way of putting a period in their never-ending argument. The memory of Shanyuan saying he’ll never win against his son resonates in his mind like a broken record.
"Huh?" The celestial fox spirit blurted out.
It dropped so suddenly that Shen Yuan doubted whether he had heard the right thing. It was evident on his two raised eyebrows and pouting duck lips that Shen Zhaohui clarified himself.
"If you want to continue your saddening career in the Hunter Association, go. Starting from now, I will never do anything that disturbs you. I’ll just convince myself that your stubbornness is because you have an important personal reason for staying."
Shen Yuan hummed, "Is this the part where you’re saying I’m royally kicked out of the family? Will the name Shen Yuan be permanently removed from the family registry and the family tree of the Shen family?"
"Yuan!" Shen Zhaohui’s nostrils flared up.
"I’m just saying because I’m sure your promise has a catch. Since you’re the father, I’ll try to be generous and give what you want."
Shen Zhaohui was speechless. Is this how low his son’s impression of him is? He’s got to admit that he’s an opportunistic bastard who treats everything as a business deal.
But his conscience was empty when he said his compromise.
Shen Yuan took that silence as a confirmation that his assumption was correct.
"Go on and say it."
The celestial fox spirit felt super generous today.
~~~
"Yuan!" Rong Suyin immediately greeted Shen Yuan with a hug after
Shen Yuan returned from Shen Zhaohui’s office. He softly dragged his son-in-law in front of their awaiting car.
Bai Tingfeng stood on the other side, soundlessly looking at his omega.
The mess Shen Yuan made by busting the gate was quickly cleaned by the Shen Mansion’s employees so their cars could finally use the driveway to fetch them from the main house.
"About your Daddy, it’s not my intention to—"
"Dad," Shen Yuan touched his omega father-in-law’s arm to soothe the other’s panicking nerves. "It’s okay. I know you didn’t speak about it out of consideration for my amnesia. And for that, thank you."
In the back of Shen Yuan’s head, he’s keeping his fingers crossed. He’s exaggeratedly using his amnesia as an excuse. He just hoped that it wouldn’t fail him now.
"Yuan..." Rong Suyin speechlessly looked at Shen Yuan’s bright smile. "You inherited your Daddy."
"Ehem." A deep and cold voice interrupted the two omegas’ exchanges.
"Yuan, the promise. I expect that you will fulfill it," Shen Zhaohui said.
He’s here to send his visitors off. On his side was Shen Linyu, sporting a perpetually dark expression, almost like skinning Shen Yuan alive.
There were clear gashes all over his neck and face, which he sustained from Shen Yuan’s kick.
Remembering Shen Zhaohui’s demands, Shen Yuan frowned and internally rolled his eyes. "I’m busy."
