Chapter 147: Episode 12.14 The Kind He Loathed
Chapter 147: Episode 12.14 The Kind He Loathed
"This human is strong," That is what the celestial fox spirit thought with just one look at the unknown cloaked man. In his estimate, this new opponent should be at least as strong as his pedicured toenails— in his prime strength. That says a lot because that only means their opponent is in the realm of S-Class awakeners.
"You’re late, Shen Yuan. I’m actually expecting—"
"Oh, please spare me with your goddamn expectations," Shen Yuan rolled his eyes and then glared at his opponent. "I heard that you’re disappointed at my members for having a hard time defending against twenty well-trained goons and your meddling ass. Now, you’re trying to say that I disappointed you?"
Shen Yuan scoffed.
"Who do you think you are, dumb human?" Shen Yuan asked through gritted teeth.
"I see that the rumors are true. You are indeed an arrogant omega who doesn’t know his place—" The man in the white cloak sounded slightly irritated at Shen Yuan. But no matter how pissed he is, the omega he’s talking to doesn’t give even the slightest care.
Shen Yuan raised his arm to the sky and ordered, "Hu Feng, haul them up."
The heteromorphic eagle has been waiting at a higher altitude. With their leader’s signal, he fearlessly dove right down, not unfazed that there were a whole lot of terrorists and an S-Class awakener ready to kill him.
"You’re sending your wingman to death, Shen Yuan!" The S-Class who could manipulate the snow roared. "I’m still here, you fool!"
Shen Yuan wore his most obnoxious smirk, "I know. That’s why I’m lighting you up while at it."
The crystal ball flashed a blinding bluish-white light when the platinum-haired omega said that. It didn’t take long until the crystal ball sped out five massive foxfire balls.
"Archbishop!" One of the goons wearily stood in front of the cloaked man. His intention was clear. He wanted to lay down his life for his superior. However, he didn’t know that his effort would only be responded to with ruthlessness by the person he wanted to save.
"Idiot. You’re obstructing my view!" With a swing of his hand, the cloaked man angrily roared and manipulated the snow around him to form spikes directed at Shen Yuan and Hu Feng. Each spike looks like a giant spear capable of piercing the sky.
The lethality is guaranteed once any of them gets skewered by it.
However, as it turns out, Shen Yuan or his members didn’t receive the first deadly sentence from these spikes.
The spike that’s directed at Hu Feng brutally punctured the goon who’s protecting the man in a white cloak, instantly killing him.
"That’s your fault. I told you not to stand in my way," says the archbishop. His tone doesn’t sound like he just killed his own man.
Hu Feng, Li An, Wen Huian, and Qin Mian saw how the man’s corpse hopelessly got stuck in the snow spike. All of them had their blood run cold.
"What a heartless man! He shouldn’t have that overwhelming strength when he had little compassion for his followers!" Qin Mian angrily pounded the snow that was continuously eating him.
The three experienced agents had their share of grisly encounters with criminals, but this is the first time they’ve seen someone pointlessly kill their subordinates. These are the kinds of people they are facing from now on!
"Gaaaah!" Hu Feng let out a high-pitched, prolonged, gull-like cry and positioned his body so that he could effectively ride the wind to propel him faster to the ground.
The danger of that blood-stained snow spike is no longer in his eyes. All his focus is on saving his comrades and the other two victims of these terrorists. Besides, his trust in their leader outweighs all fear.
And Shen Yuan is keen on keeping that.
"You just made me like you less. Now, pardon if I terribly roughen you up for this."
When the celestial fox spirit said that, he decisively threw all five foxfires at their targets. The two bluish-white fires were directed at his stuck subordinates.
Hu Feng is shaken at first when he is late to realize that he’s in the path of the bluish-white foxfires. Out of instinct, his body goes stiff for fear that he will end up as the first roasted eagle heteromorph. But to his shock, the flame that passed through his body didn’t feel warm.
"What kind of joke of that, Shen Yuan? What’s the purpose of that fire if it can’t even burn," the cloaked man said, and he put a little more force and mana into controlling the snow.
It turns out Shen Yuan was just an overhyped omega with no strength to back it up. Who knows, maybe the duel with Mao Huanlong was just a role play to paint Shen Yuan as the new driving force of the awakener’s world.
The cloaked archbishop of the Cardinals painted a beautiful painting that smears Shen Yuan. It was a gorgeous sight in his mind until the fox fire showed his sole purpose.
The snow spike that the archbishop painstakingly made and controlled with his power was instantly evaporated by the cold-looking flame he was talking shit about. And that is not all. Once the monstrous foxfire touched the snowfield, the thick layers of pristine white snow vanished like his prided snow spikes.
Hu Feng used this opportunity to haul up the injured Shaoran and offered his legs for Qin Mian to grab onto.
"What the—" The archbishop was shaken that such a great amount of snow had just disappeared, leaving just cold, hard ground.
He desperately extended his power’s range and created another batch of spikes to deter the escaping agents and flying Qin Mian, but Shen Yuan effortlessly melted them all, courtesy of the crystal ball that Madam Zhen sponsored him.
"Are you surprised that I managed to conjure multiple foxfires instantly? That’s all thanks to this new Mystic Ball from the Crimson Anvil. With this, I’m continuously hot and invincible. Aren’t you envious?" Shen Yuan boasted.
"Envious, my ass," the cloaked responded through his tensed and angry jaw. He was so fixated on stopping their targets from running away and patching his unforeseen weakness in Shen Yuan’s foxfire that he overlooked his approaching doom.
Shen Yuan’s Heavenly Foxfire is on their way to bring them hell.
A white light shone on top of his head at the same time that his goons and followers roared in pain.
The remaining thirteen among his men are now engulfed in white flames, writhing in the snowy ground like worms that wandered to a spilled salt.
This is bad news no matter how the archbishop looked at it, so he used his powers to move the snow quickly. He’s standing away from the damning white fire of Shen Yuan.
Boom!
Shen Yuan’s foxfire caused a massive quake once it touched the ground where the archbishop once stood. But since there’s no person whose soul will be grilled in the area, the Heavenly Foxfire vanished without a trace.
"Ha," The archbishop let out a relieved sigh.
Whatever that weird fire was, he’s finally saved from its viciousness.
What the hell is up with that fire? It only latches on his followers’ bodies but doesn’t burn their skin. The snow around them is unaffected; that flame doesn’t die even when rubbed against the cold snow! This isn’t the flame Shen Yuan used in his fight with Chairman Mao.
The archbishop was deep in his head, thinking of the absurdity of the weird fire that Shen Yuan used.
Suddenly, some familiar mocking voice sounded beside him, "What were you thinking? Does it finally sink to your empty head that you cannot beat my flames even if you could manipulate all the snow in this dungeon?"
The archbishop felt chills running down his spine when his eyes locked on Shen Yuan’s electrifying blue eyes. For the first time since he became S-Class awakener, he felt miniscule in front of the beautiful yet domineering eyes of Shen Yuan.
"You might be a king in this dungeon, but I’m the one who fucking rules. I dictate what stays and what goes to the sky. You might have prided yourself on being an S-Class awakener, but I exist to be the bane of your pathetic life," The celestial fox spirit said without humility.
And after that, he bashed the cloaked man’s head with his round crystal ball.
Baam!
The man lost his balance and rolled a few meters away from Shen Yuan due to the force of that single hit from Shen Yuan.
Shen Yuan smirked at the disoriented archbishop. He didn’t care if he was too rough towards this man. Just like what he said, he loathed these kinds of people who had no qualms about taking other people’s lives. They dared to take a life out of an unreasonable impulse, so shouldn’t it be natural if they got treated the same way?
"Don’t worry. I will get you out of this dungeon alive and with just a moderate concussion," Shen Yuan said to the man. Anyone hearing his tone would think he’s generously treating the other to an all-expense paid vacation. But in reality, it was far from that.
"Hahahaha," To Shen Yuan’s surprise, the man laughed mockingly. "Shen Yuan, do you think that I’m that easy to deal with? I’ll fucking show you what it means to fight to death with a fellow S-Class awakener."
When the man in the cloak said that, the Taiyuan Ice Dungeon heard a loud rumbling.
