Chapter 145: Episode 12.12 Snowballed

Towering over eight feet, the Yetis are considered the apex predator of the Taiyuan Ice Dungeon. They have wooly pure white fur that blends perfectly in their habitat’s environment while acting as durable armor for their skin and a huge mass of muscles in their entire body that could instantly crush an unawakened human with a minor collision.

But those qualities don’t remotely turn them into a nightmare in this cold, white dungeon.

It’s their viciousness in encountering beings who aren’t their kind. They are one of the tallest warlords in the races of monsters from the dungeons.

They will stop at nothing once they set their sights on other species. And with their monstrous strength and grip, Yetis enjoy crushing their victim’s skull with just their bare hands.

Qin Mian was clear about the fate that awaited them if he stood still and let these wooly bipedal towers catch his tail.

He will never let their heads be like a squashed tomato. Turning his back to the charging monsters, Qin Mian channeled all his strength to his legs to run away.

Boom!

A boulder-like snowball was fired in their direction. It landed with a colossal force on the ground where he stood.

"Fucking Yetis!" Qin Mian instantly turned pale. He doesn’t want to think about what will happen to them if they stay in that spot, but one thing is sure: he’s glad that he bolted out.

"Qin Mian, where are we going?" Shaoran asked. The young man was drifting from consciousness to unconsciousness and vice versa all this time; thus, he couldn’t process their dire situation.

The ground behind them continued shaking, reminding Qin Mian that the disaster was still after their heels.

"Nothing. Just rest for a while. We will get out of this place," Qin Mian’s chest felt heavy.

He doesn’t want to be pessimistic in this dangerous situation, but he couldn’t help but think, will someone save them?

They might have an S-Class awakener in their midst, but Shen Yuan must be far away!

A human could only do so much. He’s well aware of that fact, so instead of blindly believing that some knight-in-shining armor will appear, Qin Mian exerts more effort to run away.

However, Taiyuan Ice Dungeon finally shows the reason for being crowned as the most difficult B-Rank dungeon.

Boom! Boom!

Another round of boulder snowball was fired in their direction, but this time, it was accompanied by another humongous snowball meant to sandwich them.

Yetis, though primal, is considered one of the few monsters with considerable intelligence. They know their weakness in speed, so they use their little but impressive intelligence to deal with their targets and prey.

"Shit!" Qin Mian managed to evade by spending a great portion of his strength to propel themselves forward, but because it was a desperate move, he failed to calculate to land a good footing.

His feet got stuck in the incredibly high yet loose layer of snow. It was a pretty deep hole he dug his feet in, the white cold snow reaching the middle of his thighs.

"Move! Fucking move!" The alpha male tried his best to crawl out of the damned hole, but he simply couldn’t. The snow offers little freedom for his legs to move, so he can only crawl up, but that is a great challenge, too, since he’s supporting his friend’s weight with one hand.

"It’s okay, Mian. L-leave me," Shaoran said to his friend. It might take him a while to understand what is happening because of fading consciousness, but he could more or less surmise that they fucked up, and his dear friend was saving his ass.

"Y-you can go and call for help first. I’ll wait for you here."

"Are you fucking out of your mind? Once I leave you here, then I am a hundred percent sure that I’ll see you like a fucking ketchup bottle that exploded once I return!"

Qin Mian firmly said. His actions became even more desperate to get the hell out of the sticky situation.

However, before Qin Mian could finally see the tiny shine of hope, a strong quake shook the snow in their surroundings, and a dark shadow blanketed them.

"Is this the end?" Qin Mian thought. He had no desire to resign to whatever fucked up fate was waiting for him, but because his chest hurt due to despair and nervousness, Qin Mian instinctively closed his eyes and cupped his friend, Shaoran’s ass, and squeezed it.

He didn’t realize that he gave up all hope at that point.

Swish!

He felt a strong gust of wind slapping his face, and he knew they would be pancakes in the next moment.

Qin Mian subconsciously squeezed his friend’s ass tighter to brace himself from the pain coming pain.

Boom! Clink!

"Holy cow, that’s one hell of a heavy hit!" An unfamiliar voice suddenly sounded in front of him. "However, just like a regular cattle, this monster is as good as dead meat in front of my mighty spear!"

Did help finally come?

For the first time, the big hulking alpha with fox ears and tail wanted to cry. They will finally be saved!

Qin Mian immediately opened his eyes to see the stranger. And there, he saw the broad back of his fellow alpha. With just a single glance, he could say with confidence that this man was stronger than him.

The man only thrusts once, and the Yeti’s abdomen is instantly punctured by the spear as if the monster was made of crepe paper!

After slaying one yeti, the man energetically jumped and rushed toward the other yeti. Qin Mian would have said that the man was reckless and suicidal. However, he’d seen how the man brandished his spear and mowed almost half of the Yeti instantly.

"An A-Class hunter?!" He couldn’t help but shout after connecting the dots.

But the surprise of having someone to help them when they are in a pinch is not yet over. He heard a sound coming from behind him.

"Please stop saying your cringe lines and just focus on the task that Leader Shen has given you," said the female alpha, who appears to be the partner of the man who saved them. In her hand was a beautifully carved bow.

"Leader Shen? Shen Yuan?" Qin Mian asked in a daze.

"Don’t worry, Hunter Qin. I’m Wen Huian, and the spearman is Li An. We are from the Hunter Association and under the leadership of Leader Shen Yuan. You guys are safe now," explained the beautiful woman.

She didn’t waste time and pulled Qin Mian and Shaoran out of the snow. She guided them to a more stable ground, where she saw the horrible state of the man in the piggyback.

Wen Huian said nothing and automatically took out a first aid kit. However, upon closer inspection of the poor man, Wen Huaian has no choice but to put down the kit.

"What? Why? My friend needed immediate medical treatment!" Qin Mian couldn’t stop himself from raising his voice.

Wen Huian shook her head, "Your friend is in a very delicate situation, Hunter Qin Mian. The shrapnels are embedded deep around his spine, and I suspect they hit several important nerves. If we pull them haphazardly without the help of a healer, your friend will bleed out before we get him out of the dungeon, and hypovolemic shock will follow."

"So, Shaoran will die quickly," Qin Mian stomached that thought even though it felt like his gastric acid was rising to his throat.

"Then what should we do—

Qin Mian abruptly cut his word because he saw Wen Huian suddenly aiming her bow toward the battle between Li An and the Yetis.

Swoosh! A golden arrow flew, and it effortlessly head-shotted the yeti that’s about to hit Li An from behind.

"Leader Shen already told you not to be too brash during fights, Li An! Be reckless again, and I will report you to our Leader Shen!"

"Fighting these B-Class monsters is tough! I am bound to get fatigued when soloing all of them!" Li An answered in between the continuous attacks of multiple against him.

Even Qin Mian forgot about his friend because three towering Yetis surround Li An. Just a tiny slip-up and the alpha will be reduced into a pool of crimson goo.

On the other hand, Wen Huian remained calm, "Who would you want to fight then? Leader Shen."

"Absolutely not!" The stress and the pain of getting hit by Shen Yuan are embedded in their soul.

"Cough! Cough!" The forgotten patient’s coughing fit immediately attracted Qin Mian and Wen Huian.

"B-bro, A-am I going to die?" Shaoran asked.

Wen Huian quickly fixed her focus, "No, for now, we will apply quick-acting hemostatic potion to his wounds. That will temporarily seal his wounds in the meantime."

While talking, the female alpha’s hand wasn’t idle at all. With Qin Mian’s help, she gets Shaoran out of his armor. She then put a liberal amount of the potion on the wounds until it visibly tightens.

Finally, she asked Qin Mian to wrap Shaoran with a bandage lightly. It was far from alright, but at least Shaoran’s life was out of the woods for now.

Wen Huian fished out a small radio from one of her pockets and reported to the other line, "Hu Feng, this is Wen Huian. We have a hunter here who’s severely injured. His name is Shaoran, Hunter Qin Mian’s companion. I think somebody breached the— shit!"

Out of nowhere, Wen Huian’s sense of danger trained by the Hunter Association started blaring.

"Duck!" She screamed at Qin Mian. Thankfully, the man listens well and has a sharp, conditioned reflex.

Qin Mian was spared when several mana bullets were fired towards him. He looked up and saw several figures emerging from the snow. They are not any kind of monsters. Instead, they are just like him, they are clothed appropriately for the dungeon and some of them are familiar faces he saw when he first came here

"Hu Feng! Immediately ask Leader Shen to go here! Those assholes are here!"
