Marvel: Rise of the Ultimate AI -
Chapter 111: Total Annihilation of the Avengers
Stark and the Avengers, led by Reed, were the first to arrive on the scene. Towering waves continued crashing into New York, and within the rolling waters, a vague figure could be seen standing firm.
Stark locked his gaze onto the shadow in the waves. His instincts screamed that whoever — or whatever — it was, it couldn't possibly be friendly.
"Jarvis, scan for the target's energy levels," Stark ordered, his voice tense.
"Sir," Jarvis replied, the AI's voice laced with a rare trace of fear, "the opponent's energy reading has exceeded the detection limit. I... I can't analyze it."
"Well, that's just fantastic," Stark muttered with biting sarcasm. "Looks like we've got ourselves into a real mess, huh?"
Without hesitation, Stark raised his palm and fired a full-powered repulsor blast straight at the figure.
The shot hit dead on — but to Stark's horror, it didn't even leave a scratch on the Galactus's body.
His heart sank. This enemy... was far stronger than he had ever anticipated.
Activating his thrusters, Stark took to the sky, unleashing a furious barrage of attacks. Explosions rippled through the air, every shot aimed directly at the looming figure.
At the same time, Reed sprang into action. Stretching his rubber-like body, he coiled tightly around the Galactus, trying to restrain him.
Johnny, the Human Torch, ignited in a blazing inferno, unleashing streams of fire at the Galactus's core.
Susan, Hawkeye, Black Widow — all joined the assault, striking with everything they had.
For a brief moment, the battlefield was ablaze with violent energy. The sea around the Galactus boiled and steamed, waves evaporating into thick mist under the intensity of the Avengers' combined attack.
But the Galactus remained unmoved. Not a single mark marred his body.
"So this is the best lowly creatures can offer?" The Galactus's voice boomed like thunder. "Pathetic."
Without warning, a massive shockwave of energy erupted from his body. The force was so great it evaporated the seawater around him, exposing the cracked riverbed beneath his feet. Though the surrounding ocean tried desperately to surge back in, it too vaporized before it could reach him.
Reed, who had wrapped himself tightly around the Galactus, was the first to bear the brunt of the blast. His skin began to crack and dry out under the searing energy, forcing a tortured scream from his lips. If he held on any longer, he knew — his body would be ripped apart.
Above, Stark's flight systems short-circuited. His armor sparked wildly as he struggled to stay airborne, spiraling helplessly.
Susan, who had been maintaining her energy shields, was hit by a violent backlash. Blood gushed from her eyes, ears, nose, and mouth before she crumpled to the ground.
In a single move, the Galactus had crushed them all.
"This is your strength?" the Galactus mocked with disdain. "Pathetic. I had expected more. Before I consume your pitiful world, hand over the Infinity Stones."
He had sensed the Infinity Stones' power earlier — during the Mason Industries' cannon attack. In the vast universe, few things truly unnerved him. The Stones were among them.
Before anyone could respond, a furious roar split the air.
The Hulk had arrived.
A green blur hurtled from the sky, a massive fist swinging straight for the Galactus's face.
The Galactus's head tilted slightly from the blow, but otherwise — he barely reacted.
The Hulk froze, stunned. His full-force punch had barely moved the creature?
Without a word, the Galactus reached out and caught Hulk's arm in a vice-like grip.
The Hulk roared and struggled, muscles bulging, but he couldn't break free. The Galactus's grip was like iron.
"Interesting," the Galactus said mildly, "but still... weak."
With a casual flick of his arm, he hurled Hulk like a ragdoll.
The green titan smashed through an entire skyscraper, cutting it clean in half before crashing into the rubble beyond.
"ROAR!" Hulk bellowed, climbing from the debris. His fury only grew as he leapt again, soaring over kilometers of shattered cityscape to slam another mighty punch down on the Galactus.
"I said... interesting, but weak," the Galactus growled.
He caught Hulk's fist effortlessly.
The immense strength of the Hulk — the strongest Avenger — was nothing against him.
The Galactus's grip tightened, and a sickening crack echoed across New York.
The Hulk's hand was crushed.
"ROAAAAAR!" Hulk's scream shook the city. The Avengers, battered and broken, could only watch in horror.
With a savage kick, the Galactus sent Hulk hurtling through three more buildings. He finally crashed to a halt, buried under steel and rubble, unable to rise.
"Well," Stark muttered bitterly from where he lay half-conscious on the ground, "looks like we're officially screwed."
He had once believed the weapon he and Reed designed could take down this cosmic entity. But now he realized — they had been hopelessly naive.
The Galactus was unstoppable.
Suddenly, thunder exploded across the sky.
A figure descended amid the storm, wrapped in crackling lightning — Thor had arrived.
He had sensed the danger threatening Midgard, and come through the Bifrost at once.
"Warriors of Midgard, your prince is here!" Thor bellowed.
He swung, his meteor hammer, charging headlong at the Galactus.
The Galactus frowned and lazily extended a hand to meet him.
In an instant, the indestructible Uru-metal hammer shattered under the Galactus's strike.
Thor's expression turned from excitement, to confusion, to disbelief.
Before he could even ask what kind of monster could destroy Uru-metal hammer so easily, the Galactus slammed his fist into Thor's gut.
The mighty god of thunder flew backward like a broken doll, crashing into the ground and carving a deep crater into the earth.
In the end, the proud Avengers — Earth's mightiest heroes — were utterly defeated.
