Martial Saint! -
Chapter 85 - 0080 Sixth Rank in Ni Zhan
Chapter 85: 0080 Sixth Rank in Ni Zhan
Judges’ seats.
Hong Fu laughed heartily.
"Lu Chenzhou’s hard Qigong wasn’t practiced in vain, he’s putting it to use now."
Yu Zheng also nodded slightly.
"He does have some ideas, probably wants to emulate Evil Tiger, combining hard Qigong with aggressive fist techniques like Tiger Form and Bear Form Fist, which is quite fitting but hard to master."
Who among the Martial Artists wouldn’t want a body impervious to blades or spears through cross training?
After two rounds of elimination, the remaining competitors were all at least Fifth Rank, generally Sixth Rank was a safe bet for making it to the finals; Wen Tiange was unlucky to meet Liu Huan.
Lu Chenzhou’s goal was the top ten.
Having just battled with Yuanhua, his formidable strength had garnered much recognition, especially his impressive cross-training skills, which many envied.
Even Wang Gang couldn’t resist skipping class to watch Lu Chenzhou compete, shouting:
"Hahaha, to revive the glory of cross training, Brother Lu is bound by duty!"
Some audience members couldn’t help but retort.
"When has cross training ever been glorious?"
Wang Gang didn’t care, in his heart cross training was the coolest.
Just because it hadn’t been the past didn’t mean it wouldn’t be in the future.
If there’s no path ahead, then let him and Brother Lu carve one out!
The results for the third round came out, and Lu Chenzhou’s expression slightly changed. Others also looked towards Lu Chenzhou, their eyes filled with envy and puzzlement.
"Damn, this guy got a bye, just lying down and making it into the top ten!"
"That’s annoying, why wasn’t it me!"
Just after setting his arm right, Yuanhua’s eyes darkened.
"Is this kid the chosen one?"
He felt somewhat unconvinced.
He thought that if not for the cross training, Lu Chenzhou would not be his match. He wasn’t the only one who thought this; initially, Lu Chenzhou was indeed at a disadvantage,
in this competition full of outstanding talents, today’s most eye-catching was not those Seventh Rank or Sixth Rank seniors but the somewhat controversial Lu Chenzhou.
First he made it through relying on cross training, then a bye... he must be the main character, right?
Just like that, Lu Chenzhou quietly watched others perform below the stage, his Bright God first aid medicine was secured, and the final ranking competition was all about participation.
In Class 1, only three people made it to the finals.
Liu Huan, Huo Tianyu, and Yuan Zhigang.
Liu Huan and Yuan Zhigang had solid strengths, defeating seniors of Sixth Rank; Huo Tianyu was lucky, matching against a Fifth Rank opponent and easily defeating him.
Aside from Lu Chenzhou, everyone else began at Sixth Rank cultivation.
He knew, he was most likely going to stop at the quarter-finals.
The new matching results came out, shocking Class 1.
Liu Huan was up against Yuan Zhigang, Lu Chenzhou against Huo Tianyu.
"Our class is battling each other."
"At least it’s better than matching against one of those Seventh Ranks."
"That’s right, at least two from Class 1 will make the top four, something that’s never happened before... Many top talents didn’t register this year."
First was Liu Huan’s battle against Yuan Zhigang, one was the Class 1 powerhouse ceiling, the other a disciple of a great family; their fight was evenly matched.
It’s worth mentioning that Yuan Zhigang used "White Ape Fist," having cultivated it to the Mastery Realm, quite powerful, though still far from Shi Ruyu.
Liu Huan used the almost Perfect Second Class "Bear King Hand." Ultimately, he was the more skilled, sending his opponent flying with an unstoppable move, "Bear King Pulling Pine."
Yuan Zhigang wasn’t discouraged, looking towards his girlfriend, he smiled:
"Hang in there, you won’t lose to Lu Chenzhou, right?"
Huo Tianyu smiled and said,
"Hard to tell... this guy has cross training."
Despite saying that, she didn’t think she would lose. Although she was new to the Sixth Rank and had shallow foundations, Lu Chenzhou was also new to the Fifth Rank, equally unseasoned.
No matter how she looked at it, she was confident in winning.
The two stepped onto the stage, and it was Lu Chenzhou’s first time competing against a girl on the arena. He smiled and greeted with a fist salute, "Please enlighten me, Student Huo."
Huo Tianyu flashed her tiger teeth, loosening up her body.
"Give it your all, Chenzhou, I won’t hold back."
"Come on."
Lu Chenzhou knew it would be hard to win and took this opportunity to gauge the gap between himself and the Sixth Rank. He wasn’t much concerned about winning or losing, focusing more on potential rewards.
Such are the ways of the poor.
"Watch the fist!"
Huo Tianyu struck first, moving like a water snake, her tricky claw-hand shooting towards Lu Chenzhou’s neck like a snake’s bite.
This was the Second Class Martial Art "Water Snake Hand," mastered to Perfection.
She was too fast, and Lu Chenzhou had to raise his arm to block, successfully fending off her attack. It seemed Huo Tianyu wasn’t using her full strength, perhaps her feminine nature softened her approach, maybe allowing Lu Chenzhou to last longer to avoid an embarrassing defeat.
Lu Chenzhou mobilized the "Arhat Skill" again, his training clothes bulging with muscle, a dull Qi sound emanating from within, with his clothes revealing dark bronze muscles.
"Be careful!"
He closed in on Huo Tianyu, his right hand formed a claw aiming at her abdomen, but she deflected it with a small hand and followed up with a clean white fist directly hitting his chest.
"Spirit Snake Medicine!"
Bang!
Lu Chenzhou was sent flying backward, stabilizing himself with a backflip. Beneath his training clothes, his solid chest bore a red punch mark, his heart pounding fiercely.
Can’t I defeat someone new to the Sixth Rank?
If so, might as well endure as long as possible.
"Roar!"
Lu Chenzhou roared, boosting his momentum before charging again.
"Bring it on!"
Huo Tianyu also dared not engage closely with Lu Chenzhou. Black Tiger Fist was too powerful. Even though she was at the Sixth Rank in cultivation, she risked being overwhelmed in close combat.
Especially since Lu Chenzhou practiced cross training.
She combined Perfection Level "Water Snake Hand" and "Wave Body" flawlessly, relying on superior movement technique to make most of Lu Chenzhou’s attacks miss.
Before they knew it, they had exchanged hundreds of moves.
Time passed.
Huo Tianyu, wanting to end the fight quickly, lunged forward, feinting a strike to Lu Chenzhou’s chest with "Water Snake Exploration." She followed up with the "Spirit Snake Strangling Rat" hooking her right leg towards Lu Chenzhou’s lower body, toppling him. Lu Chenzhou went down as if by design.
Suddenly, her expression changed.
Lu Chenzhou, supporting himself with one hand, squeezed her sleek and fair ankle with his tiger claw and yanked hard. She almost fell, destabilized. With a bizarre cry, Lu Chenzhou wrapped his legs around her slender waist and with tremendous strength flipped her over!
Lu Chenzhou pounced, securing her joints in a lock, Huo Tianyu struggled; after all, her Qi-Blood was newly Sixth Rank, but she couldn’t break free immediately. Lu Chenzhou’s right fist came forward, stopping mid-air, the wind from the punch ruffling her hair.
"You were careless, I shouldn’t have had a chance."
Lu Chenzhou stood up and bowed with his fist, feeling that Huo Tianyu had held back somewhat, unlike him, who only thought of defeating the opponent once on the stage.
Under normal circumstances, he shouldn’t stand a chance against a Sixth Rank.
Huo Tianyu’s face turned a shade of embarrassed red, speechless. Lu Chenzhou was right, if she had started with full force, or been a bit more cautious, it was unlikely she’d lose. Yet with her Sixth Rank strength, she failed to display it, defeated by a Fifth Rank.
It was quite embarrassing...
After sitting up, she quickly ran off the platform to find Yuan Zhigang.
"Damn, I actually lost to Lu Chenzhou."
Yuan Zhigang was still in shock.
Huo Tianyu, a Sixth Rank, lost?
Pinched by Huo, Yuan Zhigang came to his senses, smiling consolingly:
"It’s just a loss, you’re not as ruthless as him... If it were a real life and death fight, you might have lost even more miserably. Consider this a lesson bought, and don’t make the same mistakes in the future."
