Chapter 458 - 422 White Reaper

Chapter 458: Chapter 422 White Reaper

Under the night sky of Los Angeles, lights were bright, and traffic was heavy.

The San Gabriel Valley Region was the center of the Chinese community in Los Angeles, located on Jiawei Avenue in Monterey Park City, where the vast majority of shops were operated by Chinese.

Under the nighttime sky, three men sprinted down Jiawei Avenue; one was a Chinese man, and the other two were Black.

It was already past 11 p.m., and most of the shops on Jiawei Avenue had closed. There was not a single pedestrian in sight on the streets.

On such a quiet street, the sound of the three men running quickly and panting was particularly harsh.

All three men were carrying guns. One of the Black men had a wounded left arm and was dripping blood as he ran. The Chinese man in the middle, carrying a large belly and panting like an ox, had turned a deep purple. He looked almost as if he was suffocating. But he dared not slow down and was desperately running forward.

"Whoo...whoo..."

"Someone’s there!"

Suddenly, the Black man with the injured arm shouted loudly ahead.

"Fire!"

Bang!

The sound of gunfire completely shattered the quiet night.

Just as the gunshots rang out, the figure ahead also moved, charging toward them with incredible speed.

The other Black man reacted as well, and both guns began firing simultaneously.

The Chinese man in the middle, seeing that there was only one person coming toward them, subconsciously relaxed and stopped, supporting himself on his waist while gasping heavily.

However, three seconds later, the gunfire was still ringing.

The Chinese man looked up and couldn’t help but widen his eyes, his expression as if he had seen a ghost.

The figure in front continuously shifted left and right like a specter, and the two Black men didn’t land a single shot!

When they were less than a hundred meters apart, only fifteen seconds had passed before the figure had closed the distance.

Through the dim street light, the three men could see the newcomer. He wore a fierce, ghostly mask that looked incredibly sinister and terrifying.

"Who are you?!" the Chinese man asked, his face turning pale.

As the words fell, the newcomer advanced swiftly.

The two Black men had run out of bullets and didn’t have time to reload, so they opted to charge in for hand-to-hand combat.

They positioned themselves, one on the left and one on the right, closing in on their opponent, their punches swift, creating crisp sounds in the air.

Plop!

The sound of a dagger slicing through flesh echoed, and blood splattered as the injured cohort clutched his neck and slowly fell.

The other Black man’s punch was easily dodged, and then his throat was slashed open too.

From the charge to the throat cuts, the whole process took no more than two seconds, and two lives were neatly harvested.

Actually, the skills of the two men were not weak, having survived many life-and-death battles, outperforming many Special Soldiers, but their opponent was simply too strong, making them seem so effortlessly defeated.

Because the newcomer was Evil Spirit Li San!

The Chinese man looked in horror at Li San, whose short knives were still dripping with blood, and did not dare to make any move.

"What should I call you?" Li San’s voice came through the ghost mask.

"..."

The Chinese man forced himself to calm down, "Who are you?"

Li San casually flicked the short knife in his hand; whether intentionally or not, a few drops of blood splattered onto the Chinese man’s face.

The Chinese man’s face turned pale, and his legs began to tremble.

Li San put away the short knives and looked at the man, "Don’t be nervous, you won’t die, at least not tonight."

Upon hearing this, the Chinese man’s legs shook even more distinctly.

In less than a minute, a car arrived and stopped beside the two men.

"Let’s go, get in the car, let’s talk somewhere else," Li San said.

...

Twenty minutes later, in the living room of a house, Li San was sitting on the couch, resting with his eyes closed.

Beside him on another couch sat a middle-aged man with a square face, whose presence was imposing and authoritative.

The bedroom door was closed, and faint, pitiful screams could be heard from within.

The screams lasted a full ten minutes until they were almost inaudible.

Snap!

The bedroom door opened, and a young man with dyed white hair and three earrings in his left ear, looking somewhat sinister, walked out followed by two muscular men wearing short sleeves with tattoos on their arms.

All three were stained with a considerable amount of blood.

"Brother Yun, I got it out of him," the white-haired man said, looking somewhat excited to the middle-aged man on the couch.

The middle-aged man, named Lin Yun, asked, "What did he say?"

The white-haired man said, "He claims to be a liaison officer for the White Reaper Mercenary Corps Group, named Yang Hong, brought in by Long Yu; all those men are from the White Reaper Mercenary Corps Group."

"White Reaper Mercenary Corps Group?" Lin Yun repeated, frowning.

The white-haired man licked his lips, "Yang Hong mentioned that the White Reaper Mercenary Corps Group is an armed force active in the Middle East, an extremely large-sized mercenary group with a total of over ten thousand members. I just checked on the dark web, and indeed, there is such a mercenary group, ranked third in the list of super-large mercenary groups in the Underworld."

Lin Yun: "How did Long Yu get tangled up with these mercenaries?"

The white-haired man replied, "Yang Hong said that five years ago, Long Yu was introduced and joined the White Reaper. He was very skilled and stood out quickly. In just five years, he went from a regular member to the vice captain of the White Reaper."

"Not long after becoming the vice captain, Long Yu confessed his identity to the captain of the White Reaper, revealing that he was once the president of the Longhua Association and wanted to take people back to reclaim what was originally his."

"Yang Hong isn’t clear about the specifics of their conversation. Anyway, soon after, Long Yu brought a team to Los Angeles, ready for revenge, and Yang Hong acted as a liaison officer, providing feedback on the situation."

Lin Yun pinched his fingers, "White Reaper... no wonder they dare to wage war so recklessly, having such strong external support."

Bro, there’s nothing to fear. This is Los Angeles, not the Middle East. Even if he brings ten thousand people, I’ll make sure they all perish here!" the white-haired man exclaimed excitedly.

"Now that we’ve figured out who’s behind Long Yu, let’s get to work!"

Lin Yun glared at the white-haired man and cursed angrily, "You just know how to act tough! Shut your mouth!"

The white-haired man’s expression turned awkward, and he looked at Li San, who was sitting on the sofa, then closed his mouth and stopped talking.

"Master Li, what do you think?" Lin Yun turned and asked Li San.

Li San thought for a moment, "Nobody wants to get involved in this messy situation without a reason. Undoubtedly, Long Yu must have promised them significant benefits. I think it’s best we first clarify what Long Yu has promised them. That way, we can gauge the commitment of the White Reaper to this matter and how much support they’re willing to offer."

"The ideal outcome would be for us to talk through Yang Hong with the White Reaper, to see if we can offer more than what Long Yu promised. If we can successfully negotiate, making the White Reaper give up on Long Yu and cooperate with us instead, then dealing with Long Yu will be much easier."

Lin Yun nodded in agreement, "Yes, draw the snake out of its hole."

Li San continued, "Even if the negotiation fails, we at least need to gauge their bottom line. Once their losses exceed a certain extent, they’ll probably be forced to give up on this matter and stop sending more people, especially since their main base is in the Middle East, not here. At least then we can clearly understand the extent of Long Yu’s resources."

Lin Yun nodded repeatedly, "Indeed, that’s the right approach!"

Then he smiled at Li San and said, "Having Master Li from Zhiyuan Hall come over this time has really helped us a lot."

Li San also smiled, "You’re too kind, Hall Master Lin."

The white-haired man, standing aside, sneered and looked at Li San with displeasure.

"Little White," Lin Yun called out.

"Hmm?" the white-haired man responded.

Lin Yun said, "Keep interrogating Yang Hong. Since he’s serving as a liaison officer, he must be a trusted confidant of the leader of the White Reaper and likely knows some insider details."

The white-haired man, also known as Little White, nodded excitedly, "Leave it to me!"

Lin Yun pointed at Little White, "The man must stay alive; do not cripple or kill him, he might be useful later."

Little White replied, "Don’t worry, I know my limits."

Lin Yun stood up, and Li San also got up.

He told Li San, "I have some things to handle, please keep watch here, just in case."

Li San nodded, "Sure."

Lin Yun said, "Thank you for your hard work."

Li San replied, "It’s part of my duties."

Lin Yun walked towards the main door, and the other five men standing in the living room followed him out.

A moment later, only Little White, Li San, and a tattooed man remained in the living room.

"You go in and continue questioning him," Little White turned to the tattooed man.

"Okay, Brother White," the tattooed man responded and walked back into the bedroom, closing the door behind him.

A moment later, screams and pleas for mercy were heard again.

Little White ignored these sounds and challengingly glanced at Li San, "I heard you are quite a fighter?"

Li San casually replied while sitting down, "I’m alright."

Little White took a step closer, leaned down in front of Li San, bringing his face close, "Double Flower Red Stick, that’s a big reputation. I’ve long wanted to see it for myself! How about we go outside now and have a one-on-one fight?"

Li San laughed silently. Little White was one of Lin Yun’s dependable subordinates but was somewhat neurotic, which made Li San uncomfortable.

"Now’s not a good time. Maybe some other time."

Little White raised an eyebrow, "You look down on me?"

Li San’s gaze turned cold, "Out of respect for Hall Master Lin, I’m giving you a chance. Don’t bother me again."

Little White straightened up, clenched his fists, and was about to speak when the bedroom door suddenly opened and the tattooed man came out shouting, "Brother White, I got some new information."

Little White froze, took a deep breath to suppress his anger, and pointing at Li San, said sternly, "Be careful how you speak."

"I! Can! Fight! Well!"

After speaking, he turned and walked into the bedroom.

Li San shook his head, not taking the other party seriously.

At that moment, his phone rang. Seeing it was a call from Wu Li, he answered:

"Hello, how’s your recovery?"

"... Are you sure?"

"... Okay, I got it."

After about a minute of conversation, Li San hung up the phone, a wistful smile forming as he stood up and walked to the window, looking out at the view.

The night in Los Angeles was becoming more interesting.
