Chapter 225: Chapter 202 Do you know her?

In the Manhattan District, by the Hudson River, Li San was practicing Tai Chi in the practice room of a luxurious mansion.

Not long after, the telephone started to ring.

He walked over and picked up the phone, "Sixth Master?"

"Li San, that Japanese man has come to my turf again, and this time I’m afraid we’ll need you to take action," came Sixth Master’s voice over the phone.

"Alright, where?" Li San didn’t hesitate and asked directly.

"Queens, Liu Luo’s place."

"I’m on my way."

"Thank you for this."

"Sixth Master, you’re too polite."

"I’ve sent Sun to pick you up, we can talk more when we meet."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Li San methodically began to change his clothes.

Twenty minutes later, Li San walked out of the front door of the house. This time, he donned a white Sun Yat-sen suit and a pair of black cloth shoes with thick soles; he did not wear glasses.

On the street side, a black sedan was already waiting.

"Brother Li," the driver, Sun, rolled down the window and greeted Li San.

Li San nodded his head and took the passenger seat. The car started moving.

"Brother Li, you are going to take care of that Japanese prodigy this time, right?" Sun asked.

Li San looked at him, "How do you know so much?"

Sun shook his head, "I don’t, but every time you’re about to fight, you put on this outfit. I saw it and I knew you were going to make a move tonight. Lately, the only one worth your effort is that someone-or-other ’Sky’ from Japan."

Li San smiled and nodded, "That’s right, I’m going to face him tonight."

Upon hearing this, Sun suddenly became excited, "Then you’ve got to teach him a hard lesson, that bastard has hurt a lot of our people!"

"I never hold back in the ring."

Having said that, Li San closed his eyes and began to rest and gather his energy.

Although he didn’t believe his opponent could pose a threat to him, he would not underestimate anyone. Whomever the opponent was, he would give his all, a habit formed from years of martial arts experiences. If he hadn’t, he wouldn’t have become the Double Flower Red Stick of the American Hongmen, and would have been killed or crippled in the ring long ago.

Seeing this, Sun also closed his mouth, not daring to disturb Li San.

...

At the same time, within the UFC training center, Wu Power’s room.

There was a knock on the door. Wu Power got up to open it and saw Chen Gang.

"Got some news?" Wu Power invited him in.

Chen Gang entered the room, found a stool to sit on and smiled at Wu Power, "Congratulations, you’re going to be a mentor!"

Wu Power was surprised, "The organizers decided?"

Chen Gang nodded, "Yes, I’ve just been informed. They asked me to tell you to be ready for tomorrow."

This morning, in front of everyone, Wu Power had broken Charles’s record. Charles was so enraged that he was at a loss for words and stormed off. According to the bet between them, Charles’s position as a mentor would have to be handed over to Wu Power.

This was unprecedented; in the history of TUF, when had a contestant suddenly become a mentor?

Danny had not worried about this problem before, nor had the organizers, because they did not think Wu Power could break Charles’s record in such a short time.

But now Wu Power had actually done it. Charles, after all, was a UFC star athlete. He wouldn’t renege on what he said in front of everyone, so he left the premises, leaving Danny and the organizers dumbfounded. With one mentor gone, they couldn’t continue filming the show, especially since it was a reality series based on competition.

Due to Wu Power’s situation, filming had to be temporarily halted; there was no way to record today as the organizers needed to meet and discuss what to do next.

Therefore, all the contestants unusually had the day off, and Chen Gang had been busy gathering information. Now at last, he had definitive news—the organizers had decided to let Wu Power be the mentor.

"To be honest, I’m quite surprised," Wu Power said to Chen Gang.

Even though he had made such a bet with Charles, he had not expected the organizers would really let him be a mentor, considering he was still a contestant and was not fully aware of the subsequent training content.

"I thought at most they’d just replace the mentor, I didn’t expect they’d really let me be one," Wu Power said.

Chen Gang also laughed, "I thought they might call in another UFC star athlete at the last minute, but now it seems that UFC intends to make you famous."

Wu Power, "Oh?"

Chen Gang, "You should know, UFC needs to publicize many of their classic fights for a long time, some even for more than a year. For UFC, the strength of the athletes is actually secondary; what’s most important is their marketability. In simple terms, it’s whether the audience loves and wants to see them; that’s the most important thing for them."

Wu Power nodded his head. He had already familiarized himself with UFC’s competition model and profit points before coming.

"Your popularity is already high in our country, and now with the promotion from TUF, it’s foreseeable that after the show airs, you’ll quickly gain some popularity in the United States as well. Plus, the audience will be curious about you—Hua Country’s Kung Fu, Southeast Asia’s number one master, defeating the mentor as a contestant, and eventually even becoming a mentor. With all these factors combined, UFC can make you famous in a short span of time, making the audience highly curious about your fights. That’s a commercial opportunity!" Chen Gang said somewhat excitedly.

Once Wu Power became famous in the United States, it would be very helpful for future cultural export. And now, it seemed Wu Power had made a good start.

"Oh, there’s one more thing," Chen Gang said.

Wu Power, "What is it?"

Chen Gang, "The private detective I found before has gotten back to me. He said he has found the information you were looking for and suggested we meet to make an exchange."

Wu: "When?"

Chen Gang: "Tonight."

Wu stood up and began changing his shoes, "Let’s go, I’ll go with you."

Chen Gang stood up as well: "Actually, there’s no need, I just have to pay and then bring back the information the other party has found. You have to be a tutor tomorrow, why not prepare for that instead?"

Wu shook his head: "There’s nothing to prepare. I’ll go with you and take a walk around."

Actually, he wanted to get his hands on the information as soon as possible to see if the system mission would change.

"Fine then."

Chen Gang and Wu left together.

...

Elsewhere, in Queens, inside a coffee shop.

Thomson was sitting in his seat, sweating profusely, with a tall black man beside him, reading a newspaper.

"Sir, they’ve sent a message saying they’ll be here in a while," Thomson carefully said to the black man next to him.

The black man’s eyes remained on the paper, his head not turning, "Good, relax a bit, Mr. Thomson. Once they arrive, your task will be over."

Thomson’s face fell, feeling that his luck was truly terrible.

He was a private detective. A few days ago, a person from Hua Country had found him, hoping he could investigate someone. The subject was just an ordinary businessman, and the person from Hua Country was offering a high price. Thomson, who hadn’t had any business in a month, naturally accepted the commission without hesitation.

It took Thomson only a day to gather all the relevant information about the businessman. But the employer specifically requested to find out who the businessman had borrowed a high-interest loan from, so Thomson continued his investigation.

However, what he hadn’t anticipated was that this investigation would cause trouble. Somehow, those who had given the high-interest loan were alerted and, tonight, the black man next to him, along with a few muscular men, had suddenly shown up.

The men asked why he was investigating the businessman’s high-interest loan and who was behind it. After some ’friendly’ conversation, Thomson unprincipledly sold out his employer.

So the black man beside him had him send a message to meet the Hua Country person at this coffee shop, and Thomson had no choice but to comply.

Thomson, feeling like he was very careful, couldn’t understand how he had alerted these people.

What he didn’t know was that the Bill Brothers Association had been looking for the businessman these past few days, so they were very sensitive to this kind of information. Thomson’s investigative methods were far from professional and he had leaked the news, which is why the Bill Brothers Association immediately found him.

As time ticked by second by second, Thomson sat on pins and needles until finally, his phone rang, and a message came through.

He quickly grabbed his phone to check, then turned to the black man beside him, "They’re here!"

The black man calmly set down the newspaper, "Let them come in."

Thomson sent a message, then sat anxiously waiting.

Soon after, two men walked into the cafe – it was Wu and Chen Gang.

Chen Gang looked around and spotted Thomson, "That’s the guy, let’s go."

They walked toward Thomson’s table.

"Both of them?" the black man asked.

Thomson uneasily said, "The one on the left is the person who hired me; I don’t know the one on the right."

The black man nodded and said nothing.

Soon, Wu and Chen Gang were sitting opposite Thomson and the black man.

"Hey, Thomson, this is my friend," Chen Gang introduced in English. His proficiency was good enough for daily conversation, which was why he had been able to come out alone to handle this for Wu.

Thomson smirked awkwardly, pointing to the black man next to him, "This is my friend."

Chen Gang nodded, "Can I see the information first?"

Before Thomson could reply, the muscular black man pulled a photo from his chest and placed it in front of Chen Gang, "Are you guys looking for this person?"

Chen Gang glanced at the photo, then turned to Wu, "Is it him?"

The photo showed a middle-aged man, dressed in a suit and tie, sitting in an office. Wu didn’t recognize him either, "I don’t know, is this Bertrand?"

Bertrand was Tina’s father’s name.

Chen Gang looked up and asked in English, "Is this man Bertrand?"

The black man frowned, carefully observing Chen Gang and Wu’s expressions, feeling that they didn’t appear to be lying, "He is Bertrand. Why are you looking for him?"

Chen Gang became a bit displeased upon hearing this, "Sir, as far as I know, private detectives shouldn’t ask so many questions."

Then he turned to Thomson, "Mr. Thomson, what does this mean? Where is the information I asked for?"

Thomson smiled again, but before he could speak, the muscular black man took out another photograph.

"Do you know her?"

The photo showed a woman in a red long dress, holding a champagne flute, apparently at a party – it was Tina.

Chen Gang was now completely angry, baffled by what the man was doing; wasting time without presenting the information and endlessly asking questions, "Sir, if you’re not sincere about the deal, then return my deposit, and I’ll find someone else!"

The black man, who had been observing their expressions, suddenly began to laugh. When he brought out Tina’s picture, he noticed Wu’s expression change.

He looked at Wu, smiling meaningfully, "It seems you know her."
