Chapter 216: Chapter 194: Evasion Training
A white sports car was parked below, beside which stood a short-haired girl wearing a black cap, a white top, covered with a denim jacket, and ultra-short shorts that left her slender legs fully revealed.
When she saw Wu Li carrying Tina out of the building, her eyebrows raised in what appeared to be displeasure, and then she quickly stepped forward.
"Tina, are you okay?"
Wu Li set Tina down, and she immediately hugged the other person.
"Lily!"
The two hugged for a while before parting, and then Tina pointed to Wu Li standing beside her.
"His name is Wu Li, thanks to him for rescuing me tonight."
Li Li looked Wu Li up and down, somewhat surprised by his outstanding appearance, but a flicker of annoyance crossed her eyes as she said, "Hua Country person?"
Wu Li was also observing Li Li, who clearly exercised regularly and had a good figure; he could vaguely sense a significant amount of explosive power contained within her.
Tai Chi Fist (Master Level), Chinese Wrestling (Master Level), Sandboxing (Master Level).
Overall Score: B- (76%).
Wu Li used System Detection on the girl, astonished to find that a girl possessed three Master Level Martial Arts skills, and her Overall Score even reached professional fighter standards!?
She also had a gun holster around her waist, with a gun inside.
Tch, a violent woman, indeed.
Wu Li reflected that she was the most formidable female fighter he had encountered so far.
"Yes, I’m from Hua Country," Wu Li replied.
Li Li, "Thank you for saving Tina."
Wu Li, "It was nothing."
Li Li nodded, not saying much more, seemingly eager to leave with Tina, and thus she directly helped Tina into the car.
As the two got into the convertible, Tina turned back to look at Wu Li, waving to him with reddening eyes.
"Thank you!"
Wu Li felt helpless; she was too prone to tears. He waved back at Tina.
The sports car started, and Tina kept looking back, until Wu Li’s figure disappeared into the night, no longer visible.
Li Li watched as Tina unwillingly ceased to look back, couldn’t help but curl her lip, "Stop looking, you look like you’ve lost your soul."
Tina turned around, wiping her tears, "Without him, I would have been recaptured, and the outcome would have been terrible."
Li Li nodded, "I am grateful to him for that too, but that doesn’t mean you should act as if you want to devote your life to him, does it?"
Tina’s face went red, "Stop talking nonsense!"
Then she lowered her head, "I’m not worthy of him."
"What a joke," Li Li said incredulously, "So what if he’s good-looking? What’s so great about that? Not worthy?"
Tina remembered their earlier conversation, "He’s very impressive, he runs a Martial Arts Hall in our country, does live broadcasts, participates in variety shows, he’s an entrepreneur and even a celebrity."
"Whatever," Li Li scoffed.
"Plus, he came to the United States to compete in the UFC, which means he’s really skilled," Tina added.
The more Tina praised Wu Li, the more irked Li Li felt, "How skilled can he be? My brother says UFC is also a kind of performance, if it were a real fight, he might not even beat me."
Tina smiled, offering no rebuttal.
Seeing Tina react this way, Li Li felt even more frustrated.
"Tina, you can’t be like this, what am I supposed to do if you fall for him?"
"Hey, don’t talk nonsense!"
"It’s true though."
The taillights of the sports car disappeared around the corner.
...
Early the next morning, Wu Li and the team from the Seeking Martial Arts program had breakfast together in the training center’s restaurant.
"Wu Li, I found out," Chen Gang said in a low voice across the table from Wu Li.
Wu Li looked up, "What?"
Chen Gang, "I found out why that Charles is hostile towards you."
Wu Li, "Why?"
Chen Gang, "He went to Hua Country early in his career to compete but had a very unpleasant experience. There’s news about him fixing matches online, and later, you could almost say he was driven out of Hua Country. That’s when he came to the United States, and his performance improved significantly. Eventually, UFC picked him up." (Note 1)
Wu Li was curious, "Did he really fix matches?"
Chen Gang shook his head, "Who can tell what’s real or fake online? Plus, the fight competitions in the country were quite chaotic in those years, with lots of insider dealings."
Wu Li nodded, "So because I am from Hua Country, he doesn’t like me, and that’s why he’s targeting me?"
Chen Gang, "That seems to be the reason."
Wu Li smiled, "Alright then, it doesn’t matter."
"But, there’s something else I need your help with."
Chen Gang, "What?"
Wu Li took a piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to Chen Gang, "This person on the paper, help me look into him, especially who he has borrowed high-interest loans from."
Chen Gang took the paper and looked at it with a puzzled face, "An American? Why are you checking on him?"
Wu Li couldn’t really explain and just said, "Some personal reasons."
Seeing Wu Li like this, Chen Gang didn’t ask further but frowned and said, "But I’m unfamiliar with America, how am I supposed to check?"
Wu Li had already thought about it and said, "You could hire a private detective to check. There should be plenty in the United States."
"Alright," Chen Gang agreed, "I’ll go out and look for one later."
"Thanks."
...
At 9 a.m., the TUF filming started; today was the first day of official training for everyone.
Floreson and Charles stood in front of everyone, and Charles said, "Today we are doing evasion training. Some of you may have done it before, some of you may not. I’ll demonstrate."
He turned and walked behind him. Behind was a training area cluttered with various items.
Charles walked over to one spot, in front of which were a row of 2-meter-high poles.
He started running from the position of the first pole, stepping to the left, moving his body through the gap between two poles, then quickly ran forward two steps, again moving to the right through a gap between two poles. He continued forward in a zig-zag pattern.
There were horizontal bars connecting the poles, each at different heights. Some Charles could pass under just by ducking, some required him to bend down, and for the lowest bars, Charles had to jump over them.
Charles took about thirty seconds to run the 50 meters and get past all the poles, then he started running backward to the point he started from, and only then did he stop.
Charles turned and walked back towards the group, saying, "That’s evasion training. The purpose is to train your coordination and balance."
After Charles finished, Danny took the microphone and said, "You’ve already been divided into teams, so today’s evasion training will start with team competition. Under the guidance of your respective coaches, you will practice for two hours. After two hours, the competition begins. I will record the time it takes for each of you to complete evasion training, and then calculate each team’s average time to determine the winner. The team who loses will have to eliminate the member with the worst performance!"
