Chapter 214: Chapter 192: Please Help Me
The woman’s right leg was already injured, and after taking just two steps, she fell to the ground, quickly caught up to by the three men behind her.
One of them brutally grabbed her hair and slapped her, cursing something angrily.
A companion nudged him and then pointed at Wu Li not far away, signaling that there was still someone else around.
The man glanced at Wu Li and waved his hand, and his two companions immediately went forward, one on each side, to lift the woman from the ground.
The woman struggled desperately, but it was of no use.
[Temporary Mission: Rescue]
[Help the woman in front of you escape from the danger]
"Hmm?" Wu Li was startled. Ever since he had started receiving consecutive missions under Master’s Name, it had been a long time since he last received a mission.
System missions always served a purpose, so, without hesitation, Wu Li stepped forward.
Whoosh! With quick steps, he pounced and reached the group in the blink of an eye.
"What?"
The leader of the men hadn’t expected Wu Li to be so fast and to rush up to him so quickly.
Before he could react, Wu Li reached out and pressed down hard on his shoulder, and the burly man’s body went limp, collapsing to the ground.
The two companions were shocked and before they could recover, Wu Li repeated the move, pressing down on the shoulders of the two men holding the woman, one with each hand.
They felt as if their shoulders were clamped by iron hooks, their bodies went numb, and then they were pressed down to the ground with great force.
Wu Li reached out with one hand to support the woman and asked, "What happened, do you need help calling the police?"
The woman was still dazed and hesitated for a few seconds before she realized she had apparently been rescued.
She grabbed Wu Li’s arm and pleaded in Chinese, "Don’t call the police, please take me away from here."
The woman’s facial features were delicate, like a character out of an anime, and now she looked at Wu Li with teary eyes, pitifully.
"Oh, **!"
One of the men on the ground cursed and reached for a gun at his waist aiming to shoot at Wu Li.
Wu Li stepped forward and kicked the gun out of his hand.
The man clutched his wrist in pain.
The other two men also pulled out guns, but met the same fate. They didn’t even see Wu Li’s movements before their guns were kicked away.
"@¥%..."
The leader looked at Wu Li angrily, shouting something loudly.
Wu Li frowned, not understanding what the man was saying. He pointed to the three men on the ground and asked the woman beside him, "Who are they?"
The woman was surprised, not expecting Wu Li’s martial skills to be so formidable. She hesitated, then said, "They are gangsters, they were after me!"
Wu Li thought for a moment, then asked the men on the ground, "Are you policemen?"
"FucK!"
That was their response, a word Wu Li could understand.
So, he flashed forward, kicking one man in the chin, knocking him unconscious, and then methodically did the same to the other two.
Crouching down, he searched the men’s belongings, finding no identification. Only then did Wu Li pick up the woman and run towards the corner.
Even while carrying someone, Wu Li’s speed remained fast, seemingly unaffected, and he disappeared around the corner in a matter of seconds.
...
Wu Li ran quickly through the streets, holding the woman in his arms.
With such a physique and appearance, she was indeed a rarity.
The woman, held in Wu Li’s arms, looked at him with a mix of surprise and curiosity.
"Are you of Chinese descent?"
While running, Wu Li asked.
"Yes, I am of Chinese descent," the woman said, taken aback.
"Why do they want to catch you?" Wu Li continued.
The woman hesitated, then said, "It’s complicated; I can’t explain it all at once."
Wu Li nodded and didn’t ask any further.
Soon, Wu Li was running with the woman in his arms to a street bustling with pedestrians.
Wu Li set the woman down, "Call the police, I’ll wait with you for the police to arrive."
The woman shook her head upon hearing this, "Calling the police is useless."
Wu Li looked at her, "So, what do you plan to do?"
The woman bit her lips, "I have a place, I can go there to hide for a while."
"Alright." Wu Li didn’t persuade her further, after all, he wasn’t clear about other people’s business.
"Could you, lend me some money? I ran out with nothing on me." The woman said with her head lowered, feeling embarrassed.
Wu Li nodded, he had exchanged some US dollars before coming and had put some change in his wallet before leaving the house.
He took out his wallet and handed all the money in it to her.
"Thank you, thank you!" The woman took the money from Wu Li with both hands, tears falling down her face.
"You’re welcome," Wu Li said.
As the woman wiped her tears, she looked deeply at Wu Li, then raised her hand and hailed a taxi at the side of the road.
A taxi quickly stopped at the curb, and after thanking Wu Li again, the woman made her way with difficulty towards the taxi.
However, Wu Li still hadn’t received the completion prompt for his task. Watching her retreating figure, he called out,
"Do you, need help?"
Just as the woman was opening the car door and heard these words, her body shook and she stopped in her tracks, then her shoulders began to tremble, and after a while she turned around.
Covering her mouth and looking at Wu Li, she nodded and choked out, "Please... please help me."
Wu Li stepped forward and lifted her up, placing her inside the car, then he also got in.
"Do you have medication and bandages at that place of yours? Your wounds need dressing," Wu Li told her.
She nodded, "There should be."
"Then let’s go straight there," he said.
She told the driver the destination, and the vehicle started moving.
...
Half an hour later, the taxi stopped under a building in the Manhattan District.
Wu Li got out first, then carried the woman out of the car.
With her guidance, Wu Li carried her up to the fifth floor.
The woman hadn’t brought anything with her, but she was tightly clutching a key. Wu Li took the key and inserted it into the door on the right.
Click, the door opened.
Wu Li helped her in and found the light switch on a nearby wall, turning it on.
With the lights on, it revealed a neatly arranged room with various pieces of furniture and appliances in the living room.
First, Wu Li helped the woman to sit on the sofa, then asked, "Where are the medicine and bandages?"
The woman shook her head, "This is my first time here too."
Wu Li turned and started searching in the living room, quickly finding a medical kit.
He opened the kit; indeed, it contained all sorts of commonly used medical supplies.
Taking out the alcohol and cotton swabs first, Wu Li squatted down and said to the woman, "Bear with it a bit, I’m going to disinfect the wound first."
"Mhm," the woman obediently nodded.
Wu Li dabbed the cotton swab in alcohol and began cleaning the wound on her knee.
"Ah!"
She cried out in pain but immediately clenched her teeth and endured it.
Wu Li’s movements were as gentle as possible, and soon he finished cleaning the wound, "There, done."
He looked up at her, only to freeze, because her eyes were tightly closed, and she seemed to have passed out.
