Chapter 202 - 181 Modern National Martial Arts Record

Chapter 202: Chapter 181 Modern National Martial Arts Record

Wu Li returned from Li City to Qi City, and for the upcoming period, he had to first heal his wounds while also tending to the affairs of the Martial Arts Hall.

With Wu Li’s rising popularity, more and more people were coming to Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall to sign up for classes and even more were applying to be coaches, all practitioners of Traditional Martial Arts. Many were inspired by Wu Li’s previous interview video, while others simply came out of admiration for his reputation.

Before going abroad, Wu Li himself had been in charge of assessing these individuals. After he left for the Southern Country, he asked Zhao Lixin to help with the assessments. So far, a total of fifty-seven martial artists had joined Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall after passing the evaluations.

Now, Wu Li planned to gather all these people together to discuss how to improve Traditional Martial Arts for tournament fighting.

On August 9th, inside a sports hall in Qi City, a group of people waited.

The hall was spacious enough to house four basketball courts, a space Wu Li had specifically rented for this occasion.

The attendees varied in age, with some in their twenties and others in their forties. Some stood alone while others conversed in hushed tones, clustered together.

At precisely 9 a.m., the sound of footsteps approached, and the crowd inside the hall quickly fell silent, turning to look towards the entrance.

A young man dressed in a white training suit was the first to enter. It was Wu Li.

Following him were Zhao Lixin, Gao Jianping, and Xu Chuan.

"I am Wu Li, greetings to all the masters here."

Wu Li stepped in front of the crowd, saluting them with clasped hands. The fifty-seven people before him were the martial artists who had passed the hall’s evaluations during this period.

"Greetings, Master Wu."

"Greetings to Master Wu."

...

The crowd returned the gesture with respectful salutes. Young people especially showed signs of excitement and admiration upon seeing Wu Li.

In the martial arts community, the accomplished lead by example. Wu Li’s strength and fame were far above those present, and more importantly, the things he had done and the words he had spoken deeply impressed everyone here.

"Welcome everyone to joining Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall. The reason for gathering you all is for one matter: to improve martial arts,"

Wu Li started directly, "I’m not saying that the skills you all possess are lacking; rather, every era has its own way of living. We must first make a living to practice Kung Fu; we must make others believe our Kung Fu is real, effective, and powerful so that more people are willing to learn from us and we can better pass down the skills of our predecessors. Otherwise, the number of people willing to practice Traditional Martial Arts will only diminish, and the true teachings will become increasingly rare."

Everyone nodded in agreement. Those willing to become coaches at Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall, moved by Wu Li’s words, harbored ideas of change. Of course, some simply yearned for a better life and to stand out, which was also perfectly acceptable.

Wu Li looked at the crowd and continued, "For martial artists like us, competing in modern tournaments and becoming professional fighters is a viable path in the modern world and also a great way to promote our Kung Fu. That’s why I have called everyone here, to adapt our Kung Fu to be more suitable for modern fighting competitions."

"Modern fighting mainly focuses on the usage of Ming Jin in striking, but if we want our Kung Fu to excel in the arena, we can work on utilizing our Dark Force..."

Wu Li shared his views on modern fighting and Traditional Martial Arts with everyone.

"The advanced courses at Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall will cover Xingyi’s Bone and Muscle Strengthening Method, and I am willing to share the complete Body Training Method with all the masters here, for you to pass on to your own students. In this way, whether practicing Internal or External Fist, our students will be able to develop strong muscles and bones, superior in unleashing Inch Force."

Hearing this, the crowd was somewhat shocked. As insiders, they knew how precious a complete Xingyi Bone and Muscle Strengthening Method was, and they did not expect Wu Li to be willing to share it with everyone.

Originally, some were skeptical about Wu Li’s strategy of tapping into Dark Force to gain an advantage in tournaments, as while developing Dark Force might be easy, using it effectively in real combat was extremely difficult. It required exceptional talent and didn’t seem applicable to everyone.

But now their opinions shifted: if Wu Li truly had a complete Bone and Muscle Strengthening Technique that could make all students of Traditional Martial Arts robust and strong, then unleashing the Dark Force would be easier and more potent. Perhaps Traditional Martial Arts could indeed carve out its own advantage in the fighting arena!

Observing the crowd’s reaction, Wu Li continued, "Of course, just being strong is not enough; we also need matching techniques, and that’s where everyone here comes in. I plan to compile the outcomes of our improvements into a book, which will serve as a common curriculum for Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall in the future. I will also finance its publication and promote it myself to make it an example of modern National Martial Arts. In the author section, I will include the name of everyone present! Thus, I hope everyone will share their knowledge without reservation for the collective benefit."

Upon hearing this, the people could no longer contain their excitement.

You should know, if one day the students from Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall really manage to achieve results in modern martial arts competitions using a variety of Traditional Martial Arts styles, then the influence of Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall in the Martial Arts World will be immense!

Just like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which was initially obscure, became wildly popular worldwide in the Martial Arts World due to increasingly successful records in the ring, and it gradually became a martial art essential for many martial arts athletes to learn. The Gracie family, who created and promoted Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, also became known to the world; when Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is mentioned, the Gracie family inevitably comes to mind.

Wu Lixin arranged the Kung Fu that everyone discussed and refined into volumes for others to use, and also intended to publish books and publicize them; if Traditional Martial Arts could achieve the same or even higher status in the Martial Arts World as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, then the names of those present today would inevitably be mentioned by countless people in the future!

This might not yet be enough to make their names last through the ages, but at the very least, in the history of modern martial combat, they will leave a bold and vivid mark alongside Wu Lixin!

"Eagle Claw Fist, Gao Jianping, willing to bring forth all my learning," Gao Jianping was the first to speak.

Following the conclusion of his words, the others also began speaking one after another:

"Xinyi Six Harmonies Fist, He Guangnian, willing to impart all my learning to Master Wu!"

"Tan Tui, Yu Wen, willing to contribute all my learning, without a hint of reservation!"

"Red Fist, Dai Xianhe, I’m also willing!"

"Fanzi Fist, Huang Xiaozhen, an extreme honor!"

"Splitting Hanger Fist, Zhang Xuefeng, many thanks to Master Wu for giving me this opportunity!"

...

Fifty-seven Masters, each and every one had at least one Martial Art practiced to Master Level. Some of them used to be truck drivers, delivery men, security guards, and grocery store owners... of all different backgrounds, but now, they all share one common identity—they are Martial Artists who practice Traditional Martial Arts.

Many of them did not lead satisfying lives previously; the Martial Arts they practiced diligently did not bring any benefits to their lives and even became burdens, but they never gave up.

Now, their perseverance has borne fruit—if they hadn’t persisted back then, they wouldn’t have become Masters in Martial Arts, naturally, they wouldn’t have the opportunity to join Bo Yuan Martial Arts Hall and wouldn’t be able to participate in this profoundly meaningful gathering.

Looking at the crowd who were bowing with clasped hands before him, Wu Lixin also adopted a serious expression and clasped his hands in return, "I wish to encourage each other with everyone here!"

Ever since Wu Lixin entertained the idea of reforming Martial Arts, he had been continuously exchanging various styles of Martial Arts from the system. In just a few months, his mind was filled with a complete lineage of various Martial Arts styles, enough for him to discuss and exchange ideas with the Masters present.

Over the next month, Wu Lixin spent every day from dawn to dusk in this gymnasium discussing and exchanging ideas with the other Masters.

He had a complete lineage, while the other Masters had years of practice experience, some even had combat experience, so the pace of improvement was swift; Wu Lixin would first discuss the strengths and weaknesses of a certain Martial Art style with everyone, then based on its strengths, establish a tactical system aimed at maximizing strengths and avoiding weaknesses in the ring.

For instance, with Eagle Claw Fist, many of its movements are prohibited in the ring, so Wu Lixin built a tactical system for it centered around ground grappling, and all techniques and fighting methods should serve this core: focusing on leg techniques, movement techniques, takedowns, and grappling.

Then take Tan Tui, strong in leg-power; its tactical core would be to fight from a distance, not getting close to the opponent. Strengthening the Inch Force after a burst, altering the hitting points of some Killing Moves to the body’s joints, where they possess strong destructive power in the ring as well.

All of the Techniques were ready-made, possible to make changes based on existing techniques, and with Wu Lixin having a complete lineage, there were many techniques to choose from and modify, without worrying about not having a complete set of fighting methods; with so many people discussing together, the different styles of Martial Arts already had common elements. After reforming one set of techniques, it also provided reference for others, the more reforms made, the quicker everyone’s progress.

Eventually, in a month’s time, the group initially completed the reform of nineteen types of Martial Arts techniques. Each set of techniques included some movements or skills from other Martial Arts. Each set of techniques was infused with everyone’s painstaking efforts, embodying the wisdom and experience of all the Masters.

Of course, just "paper talk" was far from sufficient. Everyone only initially compiled the techniques, but whether they would actually be useful in the ring needed to be verified through practice and continuously improved through future competitions.

However, under Wu Lixin’s leadership, the group laid the foundation for modern National Martial Arts!

During this month, Wu Lixin specifically sought out the staff of Martial Arts programs to record the process of their discussions, which could be made into a documentary in the future.

Wu Lixin recorded the complete fighting methods that were collated with everyone into videos—nineteen Martial Arts meant nineteen videos. In the future, these videos would be transcribed into text, to be published as a book.

As for the book title, after discussing with everyone, Wu Lixin and the Masters unanimously decided on a name: Modern National Martial Arts Record!
