Married To My Ex's Brother, Reborn Miraculously
Chapter 82: What have you accomplished?

Chapter 82: What have you accomplished?

Then, her gaze shifted to Tania, and the smirk on her lips turned sharper. "But what about you?" Anne sneered. "What have you accomplished? You have no career, no success of your own. You survive purely on Denis’s mercy. So what right do you have to look down on others? You walked into this party on his arm as his mistress, nothing more. And if he ever decides to let you go, you’ll have nothing. You’ll be forgotten in an instant—just another woman discarded without a second glance."

Tania’s face contorted with rage, her body trembling with barely restrained fury. "You... Who gave you the nerve to speak to me like that?" she hissed, raising her hand in blind anger, ready to strike.

But Anne was faster. She caught Tania’s wrist in mid-air and shoved it away. And before Tania could react, Anne’s hand snapped forward in a sharp, resounding slap.

The impact whipped Tania’s head to the side, her neatly styled hair tumbling out of place. A stunned silence stretched between them as she clutched her burning cheek, eyes wide with shock and fury.

"You... you hit me!" Tania gasped, her voice shaking. Her gaze darted toward Denis, her lips trembling as she forced tears into her eyes. "Denis, did you see that? She bullied me—right in front of you."

Anne’s eyes burned with fierce defiance as she met Tania’s indignant glare. "You came to me first. You provoked me. You mocked me. And you even tried to slap me first. I only defended myself. That’s not bullying—that’s self-protection."

Tania’s face darkened further, her frustration spilling over. She stomped her foot, her voice rising in a desperate whine. "Look at her! She slapped me, and now she is scolding me. Denis, are you seriously just going to stand there and do nothing?"

"Anne, you’ve crossed the line today," Denis said gruffly. "You dared to lay a hand on her. Apologize to her now."

Anne let out a dry chuckle, shaking her head at his audacity. "She was about to hit me," she pointed out. "Did you stop her? Did you ask her to apologize?"

Denis opened his mouth, ready to counter her, but her words struck a nerve. He knew, deep down, that Tania had been the instigator, that she had provoked Anne first. But his pride wouldn’t allow him to back down. He needed to make Anne submit—to make her bend to his will.

"Tania said nothing wrong," he grumbled. "She asked you to leave to save your dignity. You took offense, you insulted her, and obviously, she got angry. Her reaction was natural. Don’t twist the facts. She didn’t bully you—you were the one who escalated the situation. Now, be reasonable. Accept your mistake and apologize to her. If you do, I might consider letting this go."

Anne scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "Wow," she drawled sarcastically. "Your sense of judgment is absolutely fantastic. I was here, minding my own business, enjoying the party. Not bothering anyone. And yet, you two came to me, belittled my husband. You tried to drag me down. And now, because I refused to let you walk all over me, you want to twist the story and make it seem like I’m the one in the wrong?"

She let out a short, incredulous laugh. "How ridiculous." Her eyes locked onto Denis’s firmly. "I will never apologize to her."

Anne spun on her heel, ready to walk away and leave them in their own pitiful delusions. But before she could take a few steps, Denis’s hand shot out, gripping her arm in a forceful hold.

"Let go of me," she snapped, jerking her arm back with a sharp movement.

The back of her hand struck his face with a sharp crack, landing squarely on his nose.

Denis stumbled back, dumbfounded. A sharp pain exploded across his face, stars dancing in his vision. His hand instinctively flew to his nose, pressing against the throbbing ache. He scowled at Anne, disbelief flickering in his dark eyes.

For a long moment, he simply stared at her in disbelief.

For the past three years, Anne had never once dared to speak back to him, let alone lay a hand on him. Even though it wasn’t deliberate, she had still struck him. What frustrated him the most was the complete lack of remorse on her face, a sight that sent a sharp pang through his chest.

She didn’t cower. She didn’t apologize. There was not even the slightest hesitation in her demeanor.

She simply looked at him with that same unwavering strength that sent his heart into a painful twist.

Denis!" Tania rushed to his side with concern as she reached for his arm. "Are you okay?" She tried to turn him toward her to take a good look at his face, but he brushed her off with an irritated shrug.

She turned her glare to Anne, fire burning in her eyes. "Why did you hit him?" she snapped. "If you have a problem with me, take it out on me. Why are you venting your anger on him?"

Anne’s patience was already stretched thin, and Tania’s words were the final spark that ignited her fury. "As you wish."

Without another thought, she lifted her hand and delivered a sharp slap across Tania’s face, even harder than before.

A shocked gasp escaped Tania’s lips as she staggered slightly, her cheek burning from the force of the impact. "You slapped me again," she sputtered, her voice shaking with rage. "How dare you?"

"You asked for it," Anne shot back.

"Enough!" Denis growled, seizing Anne’s wrist in a bruising grip. "You are getting out of control. And trust me, I’d love nothing more than to put you back in your place."

Anne gritted her teeth as she struggled against his hold. "Let go of me."

Denis only tightened his grip, his fingers digging into her skin, determined to make her submit.

He yanked Anne closer and lowered his voice to a menacing whisper. "You’re acting so high and mighty because of Augustine. Do you really think that loser can protect you?"

His words were laced with condescension, spoken just low enough to keep Tania from overhearing. He sneered as he leaned in closer. "If you come back to me, I’ll buy you that antique necklace—worth millions."

The more he spoke, the more disgusted she felt. He still didn’t get it. His arrogance blinded him to reality. Did he really believe she could be bought? That she would return to him just because he dangled expensive gifts in front of her?

"Your money and gifts mean nothing to me," she said icily. "If I cared about such things, I would’ve taken everything from your house before I left."

The flame of his anger burned higher at her words. He recalled how she had left everything he had ever given her—the designer dresses, expensive jewelry, and branded accessories. She had left them all untouched as if they meant nothing. The thought burned him from within.

Meanwhile, Tania grew restless, unease creeping into her features as she watched Denis and Anne stand so close, their voices hushed in a private conversation. A pang of jealousy twisted inside her.

"Denis..." she called out hesitantly, stepping toward him.
