Chapter 125: Another round

Anne dropped her gaze, cheeks warm. "I wasn’t staring at you."

"No?" Augustine lifted an eyebrow, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Then what—were you touching me instead?"

Her mouth opened, but no words came. "I... no," she stuttered.

He chuckled, clearly enjoying himself. "Still denying it," he said, pulling her closer with a steady arm around her waist. "Just admit you can’t keep your hands off me."

"You are completely delusional," she muttered, pressing her palms to his chest and trying to push him back. But his grip didn’t loosen.

"You must be hungry still," he murmured, eyes glinting. "Want another round in the shower?"

Anne’s jaw dropped. She was still sore, her muscles aching, and her legs barely steady from last night. Another round would leave her flat in bed. And she hadn’t even had the chance to talk to him about what happened at the office.

"Don’t you ever get tired?" she asked, feigning exasperation.

"Not when it comes to you," he whispered, lips brushing her ear.

Before she could get another word out, he scooped her up and carried her straight to the bathroom.

"Augustine!" she yelped as he put her under the shower, the warm water pouring over them. He pressed in behind her, arms like iron, holding her tight against his chest.

"Couldn’t wait, could you?" she teased.

"I woke up craving you," he said, low and rough. "Still do."

Before she could answer, he turned her to face him. His eyes burned into hers—dark, intense, full of heat. Then he kissed her, deep and possessive, like he was making up for lost time.

The kiss was anything but gentle. It was fast, consuming. Anne moaned into him as her back pressed against the cool wall and his hands roamed down her slick body, claiming every inch of her.

The heat from the water was nothing compared to the fire building between them. Augustine hoisted her up, her legs wrapping instinctively around him. The moment her back met the shower wall, he entered her in one deep, powerful motion. Anne cried out, her fingers clutching his wet shoulders.

Each thrust was urgent, wild, claiming. Her moans rose in time as the tension coiled tighter with each thrust.

Anne’s head fell back against the wall as her climax hit, a wave of pleasure shattering through her. Augustine’s grip tightened, his groans rough and unrestrained as he chased the edge, driven mad by the way she cried out his name. When he finally fell over that edge, he buried his face in her neck, breath ragged as he held her tightly through the aftershocks.

They stayed like that for a while, letting the water wash over them, hearts pounding in sync.

"Still not done with you," he whispered, brushing his lips against hers.

Anne’s head snapped up, eyes wide with disbelief. ’Not done?’ she screamed in her mind.

He had claimed her again and again like a beast, yet he wanted more, not even the least bit tired.

She stared at him, speechless. Her lips parted, but nothing came out—just a shaky breath. Augustine only chuckled, dark and teasing, his eyes twinkling as he brushed a soaked strand of hair from her face.

"I’ll spare you... for now. But tonight?" He leaned in, kissed her temple. "You won’t get a wink of sleep."

Anne gaped at him, scandalized and flustered, her cheeks blazing red. "You’re impossible," she managed to mumble.

Before she could protest further, he scooped her effortlessly into his arms. She let out a tiny yelp, too exhausted to resist as he carried her out of the shower, water still dripping from their skin.

He was gentle now. He dried her off with a soft towel, brushing it over her flushed skin. Anne shivered from the tenderness in his touch.

Once she was dry, he lowered her to the bed and pulled the sheets over her bare form. "Rest now," he murmured, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "I’ll be back soon."

She blinked up at him, heart full, body aching in the best way. She couldn’t help but stare as he walked out, draped in a towel.

How on earth was she supposed to rest after that? When Augustine returned, he paused in the doorway. Anne was already dressed, her hair brushed.

"Why didn’t you rest for a while?" he asked, walking in and setting a breakfast tray down on the side table.

"I’ve had enough rest," Anne replied with a grin, turning toward him. Her eyes lit up when she noticed the tray. "Wait—you made breakfast?"

He gave a small nod. "Just kept it simple. Scrambled eggs and juice."

"That’s perfect. I’m starving." She sat down on the settee and started digging into the eggs, clearly enjoying them.

Augustine chuckled, watching her eat with such enthusiasm. He grabbed a glass of juice and took a sip as he sat beside her. "By the way, I’ve already handled the rumors going around at the office."

Anne glanced up mid-bite, a spark of curiosity in her eyes.

"Lorie made a public apology yesterday," he said. "She admitted everything."

Anne’s fork froze halfway to her mouth. "What? When did that happen?" She hadn’t seen anything before she left work.

"After you were gone," Augustine explained. "She confessed she spread the rumors out of personal spite." He reached over, grabbed his phone from the nightstand, and tapped on a video. "Here. See for yourself."

Anne leaned in, her expression tense at first. Her brows knit together as the video played—Lorie admitting to everything. But as the truth unfolded and the confession became undeniable, Anne’s face softened. The tight lines around her eyes eased, and her shoulders relaxed slightly. She hadn’t expected this, but it felt like the weight on her chest had finally begun to lift.

"I regret my actions," Lorie said in the video, her face drained of color. "I acted out of hatred, without thinking. I don’t even know who the man in that photo was or what Anne’s relationship with him is. I saw them together once and jumped to conclusions. I spread those lies to hurt her. She didn’t manipulate anyone to get her job—she earned it with her experience. I’m sorry for the chaos I caused. Anne, I know I am wrong. I am sorry. Can you please... forgive me?"
