Maids VS Apocalypse
Chapter 99: Take care of the rest.

Chapter 99: Take care of the rest.

Mark only needed one look to realize Ramsay was preparing a powerful attack, and what happened the next second was exactly that. An ear-splitting boom shook the area followed by a violent gale that washed over everything.

King scorpion had long since noticed that the archer was preparing a powerful attack. With Alex and Elya keeping it occupied, the monster was in a bind for how to evade or block. In a desperate attempt, it placed its tail in the way but was too slow in raising the output of the Force Field around it.

A hole suddenly spread through the bulbous stinger of the train-like scorpion tail, and as if it happened at the exact same moment, another one appeared on the monster’s right shoulder, only this one grew large enough to sever the creature’s arm. Shards scattered from its shattered carapace along with a splash of crimson blood.

"Tche!" Ramsay clicked his tongue and summoned another arrow. "The bastard parried it!"

As the severed arm crashed onto a nearby pile of obsidian stone, the giant gorilla grabbed its blown shoulder and swayed. Regaining its balance, it glanced at the blood spilling from between its fingers before rage completely overtook it.

"Oo... OOO...OO...AA...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"

Roaring, the Demon began to glow a bright shade of red. Specs of light came to life above its head and gathered to form a sequence of crooked Runes that turned into a halo the next second.

King scorpion was clearly preparing for a big move, raising the output of its Force Field to the maximum in an attempt to prevent the puny humans from stopping it. The Peace Keepers were having none of that, however.

"KEEP DREAMING!!!"

Elya had never landed once since her initial attack, which sounded impossible to do considering she was swinging a giant’s sword the entire time. She twisted her body and spun around. The thirty-meter broad sword seemed to shrink along with her movements, and in a second it returned to its gigantic size.

A sharp metallic clang resounded and following it was a violent shockwave.

With both the sword and the monster’s arm covered in fully activated Force Fields, the clash resulted in tendrils of lightning scattering in every direction, some blowing holes into the ground while others obliterating the surrounding ruins and obsidian rock formations.

"GRAAAAAAA!"

"JUST.SHUT.UP!!!"

King Scorpion kept pushing, but the winner of their clash soon became clear. Elya’s sword, coated in a bright blue glow, gradually overcame the Demon’s Force Field.

The instant a hole formed in the protective layer, the blade slashed straight through the arm blocking it, severing it entirely, and carving a deep gash through the monster’s chest along the way.

"GRAAAAAAAA!"

The giant gorilla let out another enraged cry and raised its now severed right arm high above its head. The blood spilling from it turned into crimson smoke as the gap in its Force Field closed.

Spinning around, Elya was about to go for another attack when a shadow fell on her. Even while writhing in pain, the Demon didn’t neglect retaliation and whipped its tail at the human who severed its arm, sending her flying hundreds of meters away.

"GRAAAAAA!!!"

"oo OO OOOO AA AAA AAAAAAAA!!!"

The few remaining Exo-apes suddenly stopped attacking and quickly retreated. The Peace Keepers were taken aback by the sudden change, and so was Mark.

He had been watching the clash between giants the entire time and his eyes remained locked on the boss monster near the Dimensional Rift. It was badly hurt, but not dead yet. The halo above its head was already complete and its effects manifested soon enough.

Crimson smoke rose from each of the boss monster’s as its blood evaporated. Slender threads shot out from each of its wounds, writhing and squirming like thousands of worms. They twisted and locked around each other, gradually joining to form distinct shapes.

Mark could’ve sworn that he had seen such scenes before in all the media he had consumed, allowing him to understand what was going on.

In just a couple of seconds, King Scorpion regrew its right arm. Its left followed right after, and the wound on its chest closed as well. The Demon’s Force Field vanished, revealing that not only did it regenerate the flesh and muscles, but it also recreated the carapace covering them.

"GRAAAAAA!!!!!"

As if it wasn’t done just yet, the gorilla grabbed its segmented tail with both hands. Mark noticed that the wound left on its tip wasn’t healed, and as if to offer him an explanation, the gorilla began pulling.

The tail stretched and its fleshy interior became visible through the widening gaps between its segmented carapace. Tears formed below the part the monster grasped and blood spewed from them. Pushing down for a moment, the gorilla yanked the tail and severed it entirely.

"GRYAAAAAAAAAA!"

Tossing the severed section aside, the Demon raised its arms in the air and roared. A new tail sprouted from the wound in the blink of an eye. Purple foam oozed from invisible gaps between the flash and hardened into a new layer of the same glossy armor covering the rest of its body.

Something seemed different about the newly formed tail, but before Mark could figure out what it was, several explosions assaulted the Demon and blue flames swallowed its upper body. On a nearby building, Ramsay clicked his tongue and watched it wave them away with a single arm.

Mark snapped out of his daze at the sound of a heavy thud beside him. Ben’s large frame towered over him as he reached down with his gauntlet-covered right arm.

The sight petrified Mark, and in that instant the Peace Keeper grabbed him by the back of his shirt and lifted him up, throwing him on his shoulder.

"The bastard got regeneration!" Ben said, "We better get outta here!"

Though his words made it seem as if he was panicking, the big guy’s tone and the toothy grin on his face spoke of excitement more than anything. Franco landed beside them just then.

"Well, we did our part so..." He turned to the building where Ramsay was sniping from. "Take care of the Rest!"
