Maids VS Apocalypse
Chapter 131: Eliminate.

Chapter 131: Eliminate.

It all happened too fast. She was distracted for a moment, and in the next her master was blasted away with a beam of light. There was no reacting to that, but even then, Lara still blamed herself.

In the panic that followed she allowed her opponent to place more bindings. With each one she severed he added two more, further limiting her movements and gradually pushing her down a pit she couldn’t escape from.

The world was then swallowed by a brilliant light and Lara recognized its source.

A chance.

She dismissed her spear with a thought and did the same with her halo. At the same time she brought her hands behind her back and dug the nails on the right on into her left wrist.

Crimson blood spilled out from the wound and flowed toward the floor only to stop shy from reaching it. With her eyes closed, the maid followed the uneven shape of the stream which had gone still and, with a thought, she willed it to change form, becoming a razor sharp blade held by a thin thread.

There was no need to put too much focus onto its appearance. The crimson blade had one purpose and nothing beside sharpness was required. It whipped around while the world had yet to regain its colors, severing the purple bindings a few at a time.

Blood Manipulation. A racial Ability belonging to the vampiric vessel. With no time to master its use Lara opted to ignore it and continued relying on her own arsenal. Lunar Arts wasn’t something that can be used on one’s self, however.

Controlling the shape and movements of a liquid required a great deal of focus. Lara struck herself more than one time, though nothing got through the black and white uniform. She was free before long and so she summoned her halo and spear once more preparing to deal with the enemy who had put her in the earlier predicament.

No sooner had she opened her eyes than she caught sight of a hand reaching out for her spear. Its palm was coated in a shimmering purple glow much like that of the bindings that gave her so much trouble just now.

’No.’ She thought. ’It will not happen again.’

The Red Hood must’ve avoided being blinded somehow seeing as he was already moving. Lara pivoted on the heel of her right foot and spun the spear in her hand, precise movements that left the enemy grasping at air as she raised her weapon beside him.

She wasn’t the only nimble one, however. Her opponent had incredible acrobatic skills that allowed him to narrowly evade the white spearhead swinging down at him. While balancing on one hand he tried tapping her with the other but failed to even brush the hem of her skirt.

Danger bells rang in Lara’s head just as she prepared to launch one of her crescents. She saw her master first and then the enemy leader grasping at a sphere of azure flames. A wall of fire spread out following a swing of his arm and it headed straight for the young man who had yet to notice. She turned on her heals and was about to rush toward him when a tug on her arm pulled her to an abrupt stop. A purple thread. The Red Hood had touched her without her notice. She severed it with a swing of her spear, but it was already too late by then.

Futile. Even with all her strength she couldn’t possibly cross that distance before the flames. Even if she were to reach him both of them would be consumed by the fire before she could do anything. She couldn’t just give up, however. The contract would never allow her to.

Just as fear tightened its grip on her heart she caught sight of a large illusory hand swinging toward the young man. The strike it delivered sent him flying away from the flames, and going by the glow that enveloped his body he seemed to have raised his Force Field and reduced the damage he took.

Lara didn’t get a chance to breathe as the enemy leader targeted the young man again. Thankfully Elya was there to interfere, sealing the fire within a barrier and preventing it from spreading.

A presence approached her from behind. It was the same Red Hood attempting to put more bindings on her. Obstacles. Annoying hindrances preventing her from returning to the one she vowed to protect.

’Eliminate.’

Be it the Red Hoods, the robed man, or anyone else. She had to eliminate them. All of them. She had to.

The maid came to a stop, no longer in a hurry. The red hood took that as his chance to bind her again. His ability wasn’t too powerful but could be a little tricky to deal with.

The purple threads couldn’t be severed by pulling on them. The more strain put on them the sturdier they get, making a sharp object the only way to gt rid of them.

He derived a sick sense of pleasure from slowly robbing his opponent of their ability to move, and that’s why he held back on attacking until the maid was entirely bound by his threads, unable to move an inch.

But that was a mistake. The right choice, from the very start, was to run away instead of attempting to face her.

His palm touched her shoulder and he was about to retreat when the temperature around him suddenly dropped. His eyes met a pair of ruby irises. They bore into him, as if looking through his flesh and directly into his innards. He froze in place, as if he had turned into a slid stone statue, and dropped to the floor.

Before he could understand what had just happened to him a blade pierced his chest. He started at it and was about to follow it to the source, but then it pulled back. The world shifted around him the next moment, flipping like an image on a screen. It rotated a few times before settling on the sight of a body hitting the floor. Nothing rested between its shoulders.

In his fading consciousness he saw a stream of rd liquid rising up, defying the rules of gravity. Everything went dark right after.

Lara pulled her spear from the Red Hood’s severed head. If it were a normal weapon she would’ve swung it lightly to remove the blood and brains sticking to it, but there was no need to. Everything had already disintegrated, leaving the gleaming white blade unblemished.

Her contractee was on the move, but he wasn’t heading toward her and instead toward the large Peace Keeper named Ben Bernthal. Two enemies were close by. One of them got his sights on the young man.

Lara grasped her spear with both hands and was about to draw a crescent. She paused for an instant and instead willed the crimson blob that had been gathering by her right to split into two.

On of the smaller blobs shifted and twisted, its shaped turning long and narrow, like a spike with a tip so thin it resembled that of a needle.

The same illusory orange hand from before stopped the Red Hood before he could reach the young man. Lara watched him roll out of the way and commanded the spike she had created.

Just as he got to his feat the retreating Red Hoods felt a sharp pain pierce his right foot. He was about to glance at it when his the same piercing pain came from his other leg. Crimson spikes pierced both. The moment he rested his sight on them they melted into puddles of blood, mixing with the one seeping out of his legs.

"Master asked for you to be kept alive." He heard as a shadow fell on him. "Do not waste his generosity."

Seeing the maid that was about to bring a spear down on him, the Red Hood’s first reaction was to leap out of the way. He flinched under the pain and the glow of his Force Field brightened, a last ditch effort to protect himself from an attack he knew was impossible to evade.

The white blade extending from the maid’s spear came down, tracing a diagonal white line through the air. It passed through his legs unobstructed, and simultaneously he felt his thoughts grow sluggish, a sign that his Mind Power had decreased significantly in a very short time. The momentum carrying him was gone and he fell to the floor. A couple meters from were he was, both of his legs landed, on of them shorter than the other. His eyes bulged out from excruciating pain burning through his nerves. He didn’t cry or pass out, however, turning his attention to the wounds leaking his life essence.

Just as he was about to do something to stop it, he felt a tingling sensation sweep over the wound. The bleeding had stopped and wounds were covered with large patches of coagulated blood. He saw a brown leather boot step into the pooling blood under him, and before he could react a blow to the forehead turned his lights off.
