Chapter 57 - 56 - Magic Stone
Chapter 57: Chapter 56 - Magic Stone
The frozen body of the Centipede Mushroom Plant has revealed its true form. After Rina’s battle resulted in a brilliant victory, I wondered what I would do next.
My Fire Ball magic spell chanting also couldn’t warm my body that was freezing like this. Even with the battle in the winter storm over, I still had difficulty determining my next steps.
Continue exploring one of the frozen Dungeon rooms or stop exploring this mysterious Dungeon.
Tipp...
Tipp...
Elliot’s touch on my shoulder made me aware of the situation in front of me.
"It seems like your Maid here should get a proper compliment after defeating such a giant plant monster, Weiss," Elliot whispered while watching the body of the Centipede Mushroom Plant which had mostly emerged to the surface of the Dungeon floor and frozen.
"Uh, yup, I’ll give a slightly cringe compliment on this. Don’t laugh at me who’s a bit bad at giving compliments to a woman, Elliot," I replied while stopping my Fire Ball magic chant.
Pessshhh...
With the flames from the Fire Ball magic chant suddenly disappearing, I felt the coldness hitting my body again. While raising some of the collars of the formal long coat I was wearing, it seemed quite useful to warm my body in the winter that occurred after the snowstorm.
"Huuff... Hufff... I’m still not used to winter like this," I grumbled a little while moving my hand to signal the party members to enter the frozen Dungeon room like this.
Wuusshh...
As soon as I entered this frozen Dungeon room, I could see Rina who was waiting for my arrival giving a bow of her body towards me. An attitude that made me stunned by her beauty and elegant attitude that had defeated the giant plant monster that was perfectly frozen behind her body.
Tapp...
Tapp...
With the floor of the Dungeon room frozen and slippery like this, I tried to use the part of my shoes to drag like skating rather than walking.
Elliot, El Ria, and Elysia did the same thing by skating on the rubber of their shoes that were frozen this winter.
Momoka suddenly flying in the air with her own magic.
Sluurr...
Sluurr...
Seeing some mushroom spores frozen and piled up like snow in winter, made me a little more relieved with the battle taking place in winter rather than the dry summer that made these mushroom spores flammable.
One idea that came into my head was to burn all the mushroom spores that were explosive like flour or dust that settled in the dry room.
A single spark that lit among the mushroom spores that floated freely in the air, was enough to make this Dungeon room into a giant oven.
"Welcome back, Master Weiss," said Rina while giving her respect by bowing to me.
"Does my Master like the results of my hard work in defeating disgusting plant monsters like this?" Rina continued while showing off the frozen Centipede Mushroom Plant behind her body.
Several body parts of the plant monster in the form of frozen leaves and roots were also part of Rina’s masterpiece that had frozen the plant monster that Elliot didn’t want to fight.
"Yes, I like the masterpiece created from your hard work, Rina," I said with a compliment that made Rina smile elegantly at me.
Rina’s long Elf ears immediately went up and down like a cat’s tail that was feeling happy after receiving my compliment.
"By the way, is this plant monster dead or just frozen? I don’t want the plant monster to come back to life after the ice that imprisons its body melts," I said while pouring out my anxiety about the potential for the plant monster to come back to life after the ice prison created by Rina melted.
The ice prison created by Rina looked like a towering pine tree with sharp bars that looked like a meat grinder. With such a strong and scary-looking ice arrangement, I could imagine that this would be a pretty painful prison to lock someone in.
In this case, the prison is like locking up a frozen plant monster.
"Um, I don’t know whether to tell Master Weiss or not, it seems like this plant monster is too long to be killed directly," Rina replied in a hesitant tone.
This one statement from Rina surprised me.
"What do you mean by that?" I replied while looking at the frozen plant monster in front of me.
"When I put some of my ice element magic energy into its body, it only froze most of its body, and at this moment... this plant monster is dying, Master Weiss," Rina replied with information that made Elliot pale.
"Hmm... how long is this plant monster’s body?"
"I think it’s about two kilometers, Master Weiss."
"Aw, shit..."
The information given by Rina surprised me quite a bit and made Elliot immediately pull my arm with a panicked look on his face.
"Weiss, if one of the Dungeon rooms has a monster this freaky, what made some adventurer parties escape naked might be related to something even more terrifying," Elliot said as if getting a strange feeling about this.
Like a case that is interconnected with each other, I also feel the same way about this.
Through Elliot’s words, I immediately looked around me to see signs of other adventurer parties’ remains.
The frozen Dungeon room this made it a little difficult for me to guess what had happened until there were several platforms that were slightly higher than the ground floor of the Dungeon that made me understand a little bit of what had happened in this Dungeon room.
"Like squirrels jumping from tree branch to another branch, it seems that those who pass through this Dungeon’s obstacles think carefully about what they are doing," I said while pointing my hand at one corner of the room that showed an unbalanced concentration of spores.
"The Centipede Mushroom Plant can feel the vibrations of its prey walking on a Dungeon floor like this, but this one platform can dampen the vibrations produced by footsteps because of the wide distribution of weight on the platform."
"Meanwhile, the basic magic chant that uses wind waves can prevent some of the scattered spores from piling up and causing sparks to burn down this Dungeon room. Without triggering attacks from plant monsters and diverting the direction of the flying spores, the previous adventurer party was smart enough to face the challenges of this Dungeon floor."
"Yes, smart enough to make them replace torches with burning lanterns in a flammable room."
While guessing what had happened in this Dungeon room, I relied on my simple analytical skills based on the evidence left behind.
A platform that was higher than the Dungeon floor had a certain pattern, the uneven distribution of frozen spores, and several discarded lantern-refilling equipment in the Dungeon room. All of these traces left behind showed what had happened before.
Listening to my long yapping explanation, made Elliot nod his head as if he understood something.
"I understand now... without triggering this plant monster to come out from inside the Dungeon floor that traps them, huh? Then this will be a fairly safe Dungeon floor without hidden traps like before," Elliot grumbled, seemingly understanding something.
"You could say..." Elliot suddenly looked at me as if giving himself an understanding of something.
"Well, the Dungeon supervisor has stated that this is a relatively safe Level E Dungeon that high school students like us are allowed to enter to explore," I replied to answer what Elliot wanted to say.
"It’s just that... we have to be careful with surprising monsters like this," I continued by giving Elliot a warning to be careful of the presence of unique monsters like this Centipede Mushroom Plant.
Elliot’s gaze was fixed on the frozen plant monster and made his body feel like it felt a cold chill that shook his body.
Elliot suddenly pointed the tip of his spear at the Centipede Mushroom Plant’s mouth and started throwing his spears wrapped in deadly magical energy.
Swwuutt!!
Paaanngg!!
Like a steel plate being hit by a pebble, it only made a loud sound of collision between Elliot’s spearhead and the ice prison created by Rina.
"What are you doing?" I commented a little while seeing the futile effort that Elliot was making.
Swuupp...
Elliot immediately summoned his spear to return to his grip.
Plaamm...
"Its hard, I think... I can trust your Maid’s ability to freeze and imprison part of this plant monster’s body so that it doesn’t move to hunt us in the deepest part of the Dungeon," Elliot said, expressing his relief after testing the durability of the ice prison created by Rina.
"You don’t need to worry about that," Rina replied, giving Elliot a confident look.
"My Master has entrusted this plant monster to be defeated by me, so I need to do it, right?" Rina continued while swinging her hand that was holding her ice elemental sword until it was thrown toward the body of the Centipede Mushroom Plant.
Staabbb...
Unlike Elliot’s spear which failed to penetrate the layer of ice that imprisoned the plant monster, I could see Rina’s ice elemental sword easily stabbing in until only the hilt of the sword was left.
Kraaakk...
Cttaass...
Brraakk...
Like a crack in the ice that slowly crumbles after freezing something inside, I could see the body of this giant plant monster slowly disintegrating.
The ruins of its body that shattered into pieces after freezing suddenly turned into large chunks of magic stones that could be sold at the Adventurer’s Guild building.
Buukk!!
Like large rocks that looked heavy and emitted mysterious traces of magic, it became a common sign of death for a monster that was part of the Dungeon itself.
"That’s quite big for a plant monster that can be avoided. Does this mean our party managed to defeat the giant plant monster that should have been easy to pass?" asked El Ria with her gaze fixed on the lump of magic stone belonging to the Centipede Mushroom Plant.
"Yes, we succeeded... even though we were just watching," Elliot replied with a gentle smile to his younger sister.
"Ahhh... what a big magic stone, it’s so amazing..." El Ria muttered with her gaze fixed on the large boulder in front of her.
That gaze...
It seems like I just saw a Dwarf girl with a great passion for the magic stone in front of her eyes.
I feel guilty if I take advantage of this situation to understand El Ria further as a Dwarf girl who sees something in that big magic stone.
