Chapter 49: Episode 6 Bright_2

So this is the secret of this stone tablet? Lynch was so excited that he almost jumped up. Just as the simulation had suggested, this stone tablet indeed hid the mysteries of magic! Moreover, this might even be ancient magic from a long time ago—information about that which is known as Primordial Magic. This is a significant discovery for the entire mage world.

Only by finding this arm can the secrets of the characters on the stone tablet finally be unlocked. What Lynch didn’t know was that the previous owner of this stone tablet, that dwarf Great Arcanist, spent his entire life failing to decipher the tablet, dying in despair, and thus chose to use this tablet as his tombstone at his last moment. But the Refined Gold Left Limb, about the size of a human arm, wouldn’t attract much interest from dwarves and quickly disappeared into the sea of history. Yet for nearly a thousand years, it quietly lay less than half a mile from this Great Arcanist.

Lynch calculated that today was a full moon night, and it was also the day when the moon is the fullest in the year. Lynch found Moni and Uncle Nimo, asked them for some oak fruits, and hurriedly came to Spider Cave, a place known as the Golden Hall by the dwarves. Here, their heads were not blocked by layers of rock; all they had to do was lift their heads to see a small patch of azure sky.

Lynch found a corner, silently waiting for the night to fall...

The number of people in the Golden Hall gradually decreased, and when the moonlight dyed the entire hall silver-white, Lynch placed the stone tablet on the ground, letting it quietly lie there, bathing in the bright moonlight. He then used his left hand to hold the oak fruit and struck the stone tablet.

"Crack," accompanied by a crisp sound, the stone tablet cracked open. The cracks quickly spread across the surface of the tablet, and the characters engraved on it broke one by one, slowly dissolving into the moonlight and vanishing into the air. When the last character on the tablet disappeared, two metallic scrolls appeared before Lynch.

"Arcane Secret Scroll" "Creation Law"

Lynch picked up these pieces of gold foil-like material and first looked at the Arcane Secret Scroll. The scroll only listed all the basic letters, but as Lynch started to observe, the letters began to move across the foil, shifting positions and leaving their remnants at specific spots. When all the letters stopped moving, a document appeared in front of the mage.

"Arcane Secret Scroll, explaining the origin of magical forces in the universe. When the concept of the world was formed, it had three essential elements: time, space, and magic. This scroll elaborates in detail the laws of the most primordial magic energy. It is a technique and ability that were once secretly preserved by the Magic God, a direct method of connecting to the Magic Origin. The Magic God used this method to limit mortals’ understanding of spells, using spells to confine mortals’ spellcasting capabilities. The Arcane Secret Scroll serves as a bridge for you to directly touch the Magic Origin..."

Upon reaching this point, the text on this page came to an end. But the letters on the gold foil began to move automatically, and after a while, a new page appeared in front of Lynch...

Lynch was completely immersed in the joy of reading, reading page by page incessantly, even using the special skills he learned to continue thinking in his sleep. His brain, unlike his body, had no rest period and worked continuously. Lynch was like a sponge, quickly absorbing the mysteries of ancient magic.

When Moni first learned about this, he was unable to react for quite a while. He hadn’t expected a story he’d made up to comfort Lynch to turn into a true event. Indeed, the stone tablet preserved the secrets of magic. But watching Lynch tirelessly research magic filled Moni’s heart with relief.

Two whole months had passed, and Lynch was fully immersed in the joy of discovering a new magic system. The scroll was indeed very profound. The beginning merely explained some of the effects and origins of magic, using a half-speculative, half-recorded manner to broadly describe the Magic God’s transformation of the Magic Origin, allowing it to be mastered by ordinary mortal mages; it is still the 8 major sects magic system standard that mages learn today. But later, the pen shifted, beginning to describe the True Magic Origin Power. Without experience with high-level magic, Lynch would have found the principles therein incomprehensible.

It took Lynch a full two months to comprehend the true meaning of this scroll: it allowed a mage to bypass the control of the Magic God and directly use spells from the Magic Origin.

Although the Magic God disappeared a long time ago, the magic system network he constructed before disappearing still operates. Lynch, cursed, forever lost connection with this network and thus couldn’t use spells.

As time slowly passed, two months later on an ordinary morning, Lynch awoke from his bed. After a night of rest, the mage was in good condition. Today, he felt he could try casting a spell. Understanding the knowledge on the Arcane Secret Scroll, he had completely modified his perception of magical principles. The previous theory of "Sect Magic" had been discarded. In its place was the theory of "Component Magic." The Shield Skill was no longer just a simple protective spell; it was broken down into components like "Force Field Component," "Protection Component," "Mobile Component," "Blocking Component," "Time Component," and "Maintenance Component." This approach greatly increased the difficulty of using magic, making a simple spell take several times more mental effort to memorize. Lynch, who could previously use 7th level magic, was now only just beginning to comprehend the most basic trick. This time, Lynch truly became a "mage apprentice." Still, it gave Lynch hope, a hope to use magic once again.

Lynch slowly extended his right hand, chanting a spell. The tense emotion made his heart pound violently, large beads of sweat forming on his forehead. He stared intently at his right hand: a faint blue light gradually began to glow at the tip of his index finger.

Looking at his finger, for the second time in his life, Lynch felt that the Light Brightening Technique was the greatest spell in the world.
