Chapter 285: Episode 7: Old Ship_3
Lynch smiled, "This question is very simple, you are Zilvra." He pointed to the little angel teasing a squirrel in the tree, "She is Soka. Actually, things in the world are just that simple. The more you think, the more trouble you have. That is why many mages always frown and age early. Sometimes, there’s no need to categorize yourself. You are just you. Knowing this is enough."
"You’re never wrong," Zilvra sheathed her thin sword, "Recently, I discovered a way to live easily, which is whatever you say, I will do, this way I won’t have to think too much and trouble myself." She waved at Soka, "Soka, come and eat."
"Oh!" The little angel stuffed a handful of berries into her pocket and floated down from the tree.
On the other hand, Deluo was laughing at the troops leaving Lynch’s inn. They came in a high-spirited rush but left dejected. Just after the mage left, more than a dozen overconfident folks came tracking up, but with Deluo guarding the door with his fists, not one of them could get inside.
Wislin didn’t want to escalate the situation, guaranteeing with the honor of a knight that the mage had already left. Deluo pointed in the direction Lynch departed, saying to the bruised and battered group, "See that road? The mage left that way."
Yet the pursuers, led by their captain, took a completely opposite road. After they left, Deluo said to Wislin, "See? People don’t believe the truth anymore."
"If I beat you up and then gave you some news, would you believe me?" Wislin said with a smile.
"I don’t know about that," Deluo said, pushing the door into the inn, just in time to see Morgan about to leave with the others. He said to the Paladin, "But there’s one thing I’m sure of, you can’t beat me up. So, let’s just leave it at that. Safe travels to you all."
Lynch and his companions were unaware that the pursuers had taken a wrong path. He was still somewhat worried about being ambushed halfway. After lunch, they immediately rushed to the next crossing, preparing to change to a white sail to drift down the Fengduo River towards the Elf Kingdom.
But the journey for the three soon became lively. As they were about to reach Andurin Crossing, the road became unusually crowded. Around them were ordinary Haisas residents, dressed up and all carrying large baskets, noisily heading towards the crossing.
The voices of talking, noisy shouting, and constant crowing made the scene exceedingly chaotic. They had to dismount, and Zilvra puzzledly asked Lynch, "What on earth is going on?"
"It’s because the annual cockfighting tournament is about to start soon." Lynch led the horse slowly to the side of the road, avoiding competing with the crowded people. Zilvra and Soka followed closely behind.
"The cockfighting tournament is a very interesting tradition here, held every summer. Anyone can participate as long as they bring their own rooster. The ultimate winner gets to meet the Great Lord and, of course, receive a very generous reward." Lynch calmed the slightly panicked horse, "But if you lose, then that rooster becomes dinner for everyone celebrating the festival. With other competitions happening at the same time, the place naturally becomes crowded with people taking ferries downriver."
"Are we supposed to squeeze in with all these people?" Zilvra looked at the throng, tightly gripping the reins and Soka’s little hand. Now the angel mustn’t fly into the sky, as it would only cause a bigger commotion. "With so many people here, how are we going to find a boat?"
"You don’t need to worry about that," Lynch smiled, "My mom told me that an old acquaintance from when I was young still runs a boat here. It’s a small boat, but there will definitely be a place for us to leave smoothly."
Lynch left the main road and headed directly towards the dock, guided by his memory from before. When he was young, this was the very path he took to the Mage Association. After his father decided to put Lynch on the path of becoming a mage, every step of the journey left a deep impression on his heart.
