Chapter 271: Episode 4: Damned?
The scene was chaotic, and the sudden gale had disrupted all the arrangements, with the prepared flowers and banners being swept into the sky. The villagers, leaning against each other in disarray, were trampled over by the Mage’s soft boots, leaving a trail of muddy footprints. The air was filled with cries of pain and surprise.
Wislin’s face lit up when he saw Lynch running over. He called out loudly, "Madam, madam! Wake up quickly, see who has returned!" Morgan rubbed her eyes, unable to believe what she was seeing. The Dwarf standing beside the ceremonial Priest’s beard trembled with excitement, but then a spell’s voice echoed in his ear.
Morgan looked up and saw the Priest about to cast a spell, and kicked him hard on the knee. The Pate Priest, wrapped in his white cloak, tumbled into the dirt, rolling to the feet of the crowd. The Dwarf patted his hands, "I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time! This chatterbox kept saying Lynch had died, and I’ve had enough of it!"
The Mage swept through the crowd like a gust of wind and cradled his mother’s frail body. Tears welled up in his eyes, and with a trembling voice, he could only stammer, "Wislin, what... what should we do?"
It was the first time Wislin had seen the Mage panic, witnessing Lynch lose his composure. He quickly placed his hand on Lynch’s mother’s forehead and gently called upon the power of the Light God Pate: "Great Sun God, praise Pate, may you grant me a miracle to heal the patient in my hands..." A pure white light flowed from her forehead into that frail body, and Lynch’s mother’s eyelids and lips quivered slightly, indicating she wasn’t in much danger.
"Your mother still needs to recuperate. Let her have a quiet sleep, and she’ll recover her health." Wislin laid her into her son’s arms, "Now let’s find a cool place to settle her down properly, and discuss other matters later."
However, things don’t always go as planned. Seeing their Priest attacked, the group of Knights immediately pointed their spears at the Dwarf Morgan and the unexpectedly arrived Lynch. They quickly formed a surrounding formation, and any movement would result in the hard weapons attacking from all sides.
At this moment, Lynch had abandoned all precise thinking, categorizing anything blocking his way as an enemy. His eyes turned pitch black, pupils swirling like a vortex; the airflow around his body accelerated, and a silver light orb appeared above his head.
Zilvra tore off her blindfold, the Mage’s sudden departure making her a bit anxious and flustered. Having once ventured to the Limb Temple with Lynch, the Dark Elf naturally knew that silver light orb signaled all-out combat. She drew her thin sword, her pair of purple pupils continuously scanning. With the dark elf’s innate intuition, those shiny tin cans were what she found most displeasing.
"Wait!" Wislin, seeing the situation worsening, stood between Lynch and the Paladins: "Who are you pointing your weapons at? This is Mage Lynch, who has aided our sacred Pate in defending Moon Harbor City! Do you want to bring disgrace upon our great god?" He pointed at the Knight Badge on his chest: "I swear by the great Pate, what I say is true. Now, I must take my friend and his poor mother to recuperate, clear the way immediately upon my command!"
The Knights lowered their lances in unison, making way for a passage. Lynch glanced at this group of people, and right there, used flying magic to take his mother up into the sky.
Morgan patted Wislin on the back and whispered, "It seems this funeral has really angered our Lynch. He doesn’t care for anyone’s face, which is quite rare."
Wislin looked at the Dwarf, muttering in his heart, "If you hadn’t kicked the bishop over, it wouldn’t have become so troublesome." But watching the flying-away Mage, he said, "I know where they’re going, follow me quickly."
Deluo, standing further back, couldn’t hear what was said earlier. However, seeing the Knights lower their spears, he felt a bit regretful: "It’s a pity we can’t engage with these Knights!" In his mind, such a scene was merely a small dish for Lynch, not necessary to worry about the Mage getting hurt. The only important thing was whether he could fully stretch himself in this battle.
