Chapter 202: Episode 73 Double Loss_2
However, now is not the appropriate time to consider the cause of this matter or the motives of the First Matron. The Little Dwarf in front of the Spider Elf was like a pitiful rabbit being stared down by a fierce and hungry leopard. The leopard had already raised four of its... oh, eight legs, plus two arms, perfectly blocking all possible routes of the rabbit’s movement; whereas the rabbit itself hadn’t yet had the chance to reload its repeating crossbow arrows.
Deluo, in his roll, got a mouthful of mud. While spitting out the filth with "pat, pat," he flipped up from the ground. Just in time, he saw the Dwarf in need of help and shouted loudly, leaping onto the spider’s back.
Transforming into a Spider Elf degrades the Drow’s original skills, but it makes them sharper. Spider Zarra lifted her rear, and a spray of white adhesive liquid shot out from three nozzles at the back of her abdomen. They rapidly turned into spider silk in the air, flying overwhelmingly towards the warrior mid-air.
"Break!" Deluo spun his blade, the double-headed sword erupted in a red and white light in the air, turning into a flowing arc, colliding head-on with the white spider silk.
The viscous spider silk almost couldn’t entangle Deluo’s sword, they were cut apart and scattered like falling leaves.
Spider Zarra increased the intensity of her spray, more spider silk shot towards the warrior like a torrent. She no longer dared to underestimate this guy’s strength; that swift blade, if cut into her body, would surely leave a lethal opening.
Deluo’s figure paused mid-air, the surging spider silk finally worked, and he could feel some of the adhesive getting through his spinning blade’s protection onto his hands. Deluo gathered his energy, then suddenly sped up his hand movements, his mouth quickly and continuously shouting like a downpour: "Ah-da-da-da-da-da..."
The Martial Monk had already gained the upper hand, forcing the Half-Beastman to keep retreating, but Deluo’s strange cries caught his attention. Regula turned his head to look, his face immediately becoming serious. The sudden burst of power Deluo displayed made even him, with his rich combat experience, unable to judge who had the upper hand between the Spider Elf and the warrior.
Spider Zarra had shot out most of the remaining adhesive in her abdomen pouch, unable to pressure the warrior in the air anymore. But Deluo’s double-headed sword was also wrapped in spider silk, turning into a cocoon-like thing, with its sharp blade completely obscured. Seeing this, Deluo flung away the double-headed sword, raising his fists and rushed towards the Spider Elf.
With a thud, he sat on the back of Spider Zarra, ignoring the spider’s sharp body hair cutting into his flesh, and punched continuously.
Each punch landed with a dull thud, and Spider Zarra let out a painful scream with each hit. She twisted her upper body, reaching with both hands for Deluo, her blood-red fingers needing only to cause a wound to inject venom into the human’s body. However, in hand-to-hand combat, Zarra was significantly inferior to Deluo by several levels. The warrior twisted her hand with a grip, and the fragile Drow wrist immediately snapped.
Zarra let out a piercing scream that made whoever heard it shiver, their skin crawling as if pricked by needles. The Martial Monk saw the Spider Elf in trouble, his brows furrowing tighter, deciding to end things quickly. Facing the Half-Beastman’s blade, he not only didn’t dodge but instead struck the side of the blade with his left hand forcefully, while the other hand thrust at the Half-Beastman’s chest.
How could the strength of one hand stop the full-force swing of a two-handed weapon from a raging Half-Beastman? Even a side force like that was accompanied by a strong countershock. With two crisp pops, the Martial Monk’s left hand dislocated and went numb.
However, the gained opportunity of attack sent the Half-Beastman flying. After receiving a solid palm strike to the chest, Mep staggered back several steps, sitting into the mud, blood spurting all over his chest. Although he didn’t successfully use Shock Break to paralyze the Barbarian, the Barbarian’s rage was forced to cease, the massive physical exertion leaving Mep unable to continue fighting.
Priest Joe ran to the Half-Beastman, pulling out a Healing Wand to quickly treat his wounds, while he kept a wary eye on the Martial Monk to prevent him from attacking.
But the Martial Monk’s gaze was focused on Spider Zarra. Deluo’s attack caused severe damage to the Spider Elf. Zarra was now writhing madly in panic, trying to throw the human off her back. Yet in vain, Deluo held onto the long hair on her back, clamping on with his legs as if to tame an unruly wild horse, refusing to let go.
The Little Dwarf took this time to reload his repeating crossbow arrows, aiming at the Drow’s head. Zarra was completely unaware of this.
"No!" The Martial Monk suddenly sprang into action, darting towards Nimo like an arrow leaving the string, his swift figure creating an afterimage in the air. Everyone watched in astonishment, unable to believe a person could move so fast.
Regula wanted to stop Nimo from pulling the trigger, but his movements couldn’t possibly outpace the Dwarf’s finger on the trigger. The repeating crossbow bow was activated, the taut bowstring began to drive the crossbow bolt forward.
Regula suddenly blocked between the Dwarf and Zarra, spreading his arms to protect the Spider Elf behind him as much as possible. With a series of ’thunk, thunk’ sounds, the Monk’s body was riddled with small holes, and blood instantly stained his black clothing red. Regula gritted his teeth, striking down on the Dwarf’s head with his palm. A white flash accompanied by a thunderous noise exploded between his palm and Nimo’s head. The Little Dwarf fell headfirst to the ground, unconscious.
Regula wasn’t feeling well either. Unable to hold the bitter acid in his throat any longer, he fell to his knees, vomiting blood.
The Spider Elf saw all this and began to roll on the ground frantically, caring not to expose her abdomen’s weakness, but aiming to throw off the warrior on her back. Deluo was pressed into the mud twice in succession, and finally, on the third push, he couldn’t hold out and fell off Spider Zarra.
Zarra used two legs to grab the weakened Monk, leaving behind a sticky spiderweb to block the enemy’s pursuit as she quickly disappeared into the sewers of Ratris City.
Deluo never intended to chase after those two guys. He climbed out of the mud, immediately rushing towards the unconscious Little Dwarf.
Priest Joe, having healed the Half-Beastman, came to the Dwarf’s side and carefully observed his injuries: "It’s fine, he’s just been knocked out. Rest and he’ll be fine."
Relieved, Deluo hoisted the Dwarf onto his back, then found his double-headed sword in the mud, tearing at the spider silk on it. Due to fatigue, the unconscious Nimo gradually slipped off his back, and before the warrior could react, the Little Dwarf was caught by two slender arms.
The human maid blushed, lowering her head, not daring to look at the warrior before her, and said softly, "Let me take care of him..."
