Chapter 183: Episode 66 Dazhe (Part 1)

The pain in Lynch’s head was like relentless waves, crashing in wave after wave. Lynch felt as if a thousand-pound stone was pressing on his forehead. His consciousness was gradually blurring, with his clear thoughts being squeezed bit by bit out of his mind. Darkness completely surrounded him.

Ever since he possessed the Eye of Insight, Lynch had not experienced complete darkness for a long time. The loneliness, confusion, and fear once felt in the night gradually crept into his heart. Lynch hugged his body tightly, striving to focus and retain the last shred of rationality.

Suddenly, the darkness was instantly dispelled, and light once again shone on the mage’s body. Bathed in warm sunlight, Lynch looked around in astonishment at his surroundings.

White clouds floated in the blue sky, and crystal clear dewdrops hung on the soft grass beneath his feet, with the fragrance of fresh soil wafting in the air.

Yet Lynch clearly remembered that the last time he came to this world, he was nearly burned to death by a raging fire. He stretched out his hand and cast the simplest Light Brightening Technique.

A bright light appeared at his fingertips, reassuring the mage considerably. As long as he didn’t lose the ability to use spells like last time, Lynch was confident he could handle most situations.

From the other side of the hill came the sound of synchronized shouting, and the ground beneath his feet trembled rhythmically. It was as if an army was marching there.

Lynch crawled up the hill, quickly lowering himself in the tall grass. On the other side of the hill was an army composed entirely of Snake-men, who were in training.

The mage had never seen such a large army gathered together, dark as a storm cloud pressing on the border. In this small valley alone, no fewer than twenty thousand Snake-men had gathered.

They were fully armed, wearing armor woven with fine rings. This kind of armor offered great protection against arrows, and combined with their naturally sword-resistant scales, the defense was enough to face any unit. The Snake-men crawled using their lower bodies, saving material for leg armor, but all were crafted into gigantic weapons. Each Snake-man carried four war spears on their backs, which could be thrown or raised to form a spear array to guard against cavalry. In their hands, they held enormous machetes, the white blade reflecting the Snake-men’s terrifying inverted-triangle faces like a mirror. With such enormous blades combined with these creatures’ innate fearsome strength, Lynch believed that no human military unit could withstand their onslaught head-on.

The assembled Snake-men lined up in squares, marching neatly across the grass, maintaining the same speed without disrupting their formation. The leader waved a machete to the side, and the entire troop immediately changed direction, still maintaining crisscross formations. Lynch couldn’t help but admire the training level of this troop; to discipline inherently unruly Snake-men into a formidable army must have taken considerable effort. Snake-men were one of the powerful ancient species, once ruling over the Anriel Continent alongside humans, elves, and dwarves. It was only when other races mastered magic that they gradually declined to become ordinary inhabitants. What did this group of Snake-men intend to do here now?

Lynch had once fought these Snake-men in underground caves. If it weren’t for his lightning magic’s explosive power, the mage would have had no way to deal with them. Whether in melee or magic resistance, these evolved Snake-men were nearing sub-dragon levels. Coupled with such numbers, Lynch couldn’t imagine the destruction this army might unleash on the entire continent.

"I hope these Snake-men won’t cause trouble for Anriel," Lynch muttered to himself.

Black clouds suddenly enveloped Lynch’s head, sharply contrasting with the bright sunlight the mage brought with him. Startled, the mage turned around abruptly to see the figure wrapped in a black mist slowly hovering up again.

Once threatened by fire was enough. This time, the mage was not powerless. Lynch stood up, a Lightning Spear gripped in his right hand, a silver Energy Ball hovering above his left palm. Unable to gauge the opponent’s true power, Lynch decided to cautiously remain on guard.

The black-clad figure stopped, quietly observing the mage’s actions. His body shuddered, and the black mist completely vanished, revealing his true face.
