Chapter 176: Episode 63 Attack (Part 1)_2

Seeing the surprised expression on Nimo’s face, Deluo wore a smug look: "I knew you’d like this idea. You know, Lynch can effortlessly conjure up some simple tricks. Remember, last time he even turned a rock into volcanic stone to save our lives. When the time comes, let him conjure a dish; whether it’s originally tasty or not, with a touch of magic, won’t it become delicious?"

"Can... can you really do that?"

"Of course, and I have an even better idea. Nimo, honestly, have you noticed that the Dark Elf seems interested in our Mage?" When mentioning the Dark Elf, Deluo lowered his voice, raised his eyebrows twice, and added a sly smile.

"What kind of interest?"

"Oh, nothing. You’re too young to understand." Deluo saw that Nimo wasn’t too interested in this kind of "juicy" gossip and spotted the personnel who were the contact point, so he didn’t continue. But he still muttered under his breath, "That girl is actually fine, just too pale with her white hair and skin. I wonder if she’ll be too glaring for Lynch under the sunlight..."

At this moment, the Mage had climbed out of the bathtub, just dressed in his Mage Robe, when he suddenly sneezed. He rubbed his nose and then touched his forehead with his right hand, shaking his head in puzzlement: "Not sick, huh..."

The Mage sat in the room for a while, waiting for Deluo and Nimo. But until the Black Crystal Tower reported that the time already pointed to nighttime, his two companions still hadn’t returned. Bored, he walked downstairs and saw the Stone-leg Boss collapsed on the ground, foaming at the mouth, limbs twitching, already unconscious.

Lynch rushed to the hotel owner’s side, checking his breath. "Luckily, not dead." Treating patients wasn’t his forte. The Mage stood up, ready to use the "Floating Disc" spell to take Stone-leg to the temple. Although he’s just a dwarf and the Drow wouldn’t treat outsiders, with his status as the first family’s Adviser Mage, they would still offer some care.

Before he could pull out the scroll for that spell, his always-insightful eyes twitched, suddenly seeing a humanoid creature standing before him.

The creature’s blue-purple skin was covered in mucus, making it look as if covered in sticky wax, smooth and shiny. Thick tendrils sprouted from its lower jaw, each jutting towards Lynch as if they had a mind of their own. Combined with its large blue eyes, its head resembled a giant squid.

It extended slender fingers, brushed its tendrils, and flung the mucus onto the ground with a sizzling sound.

Lynch was exceedingly surprised; ever since acquiring the Eye of Insight, he’d never been approached stealthily. The Eye of Insight always detected suspicious things at the first moment, no matter how they changed their forms; even with Invisibility or moving like an assassin in Stealth, they couldn’t escape his observation. The only way previously was teleportation spells. But even then, the glow of spells could be traced, and he’d still have some sense of it.

"How did you do it? How did I..." Lynch suddenly shut his mouth. If he continued asking like this, he’d expose the ability of his Eye of Insight. Moreover, would anyone ever disclose the answer to such technical questions?

"Are you asking how I avoided your detection?" A voice abruptly resounded in Lynch’s mind as if echoing from the depths of the Mage’s skull.

The creature pointed to its head, then at Lynch’s: "I just made your brain think I don’t exist. But, being able to detect me at the last moment also marks you as a strong one."

"Who are you?"

"Is there any need for such a question?" Its tendrils twisted rapidly, snapping together with a "pa-pa" sound, "I seem to have found something delicious!"

"What are you trying to..." Before Lynch could finish, a sudden sharp pain dove deep into his brain, as if someone unleashed an Ice Freezing Technique inside his head, turning everything instantly numb. The protruding ice blades pierced every spot of his cranium. Countless shining stars appeared before Lynch’s eyes, spinning and emitting a red glow.

The Mage lost his balance, staggered backward several steps, and finally leaned against the bar counter, barely supporting himself.

"Impressive, just as I anticipated; you withstood the impact," the creature’s voice boomed once more in the Mage’s head, this time like endless thunder mixed with the howl of storm and rain, deafening.

"You bastard!" Lynch grabbed the Powerful Wand, his fingers gently twitching, ready to unleash his spell.

"A brain like this is truly delicious; I mean it, truly delectable." The creature leaned forward, and its eyes flashed a vibrant blue before disappearing entirely. All its tendrils tightened, pointing towards the Mage.

This time, it was as if a Fireball exploded in his brain matter, with heat and force rendering Lynch momentarily blind; his eyes saw nothing but blackness. He heard nothing as the tone in his ears escalated then vanished, leaving only pain. He smelled nothing, only the warm liquid in his nostrils; even the usual scent of blood vanished. The only sense remaining was touch, but it had reduced to one sensation—pain, where even a gentle breeze felt like a blade’s slash across his skin.

Lynch held back the tearing sensation in his throat and lungs, taking deep breaths of fresh air. He knew the only way to handle such a creature was to persevere, catching a slight opening to disrupt their spiritual shock and regain control.

Lynch strained to concentrate, first restoring the observation of the Eye of Insight. Only by grasping the enemy’s actions and position could he find a way to counterattack.

It seemed the creature was also nervous now, with ample mucus dripping from its head, dyeing the floor blue-purple. Its tendrils twitched, and Lynch’s mind echoed with its words: "You truly surprise me... But human... you definitely can’t withstand the next attack!"

A white Light Sphere flew from its tendrils, charging straight at Lynch’s head. This was a powerful spiritual shockwave gathered by the creature, only manifesting in this luminous semi-physical form when energy reached a certain level.

After firing this attack, the creature also exerted significant effort, its body pausing and stumbling a step. This slight respite somewhat relieved the pressure on the Mage’s body.

Yet at this time, the Light Sphere was just a foot away from Lynch’s forehead.

"Die, human!" The creature excitedly wiggled its tendrils, victory within its grasp.
