Chapter 174: Episode 62 Distribution_2
In the adventures that followed, Lynch acquired related knowledge of the Magic Origin. But the Dark Elf Magic Insights in front of him now left him feeling powerless. One thing is certain: the core rules of these books are still the Magic Network. However, because the spell is written in Dark Elf Language, it has long formed its own unique style and magical text.
"I can’t understand it by reading directly, so I’ll copy it. A lot of practice can always help me find the usage of these spells!" Lynch pulled the book he had just pushed away back in front of him, picked up the parchment he had brought with him, took up the goose feather pen that had turned yellow from years, and began to write.
Meanwhile, in a lounge next to the Black Crystal Tower, several Dark Elves were gathering together.
The room’s arrangement fully met the requirements of comfort, with a soft rug on which a brazier emitted a faint mint fragrance. Large cushions were easily at hand, and several round wooden tables were fixed in various places in the room. No matter where you sat in the room, a small table was within your reach. Red wine was in crystal glasses, standing on the round table, accompanied by muffins emitting a fruity fragrance.
A Dark Elf Mage exhaled thick smoke lightly, watching it slowly drift away and disappear in the air, then put the pipe back in his mouth, closed his eyes, and again savored the aroma of surface plants.
"A visiting mage came today, he’s a human, did you all hear?" He removed the pipe, tapping it on the ashtray on the table, making a tapping sound to draw the attention of others. His voice was like the smoke rings he just exhaled, slow and with a dreamy feel.
"That’s the adviser mage of the first family, Yarriel, you’d better not have any ideas about him." Another Drow, still maintaining the posture of reading, said.
"Oh, what’s the matter? I won’t harm him." The mage named Yarriel picked up a muffin with two slender fingers, brought it to his lips, and took a light bite, "I just rarely see a human mage, just curious. Zag, you bookworm, how can you understand my thoughts? Always thinking nonsense..."
"Ha! Who doesn’t know about your little schemes." Aulos walked in from outside the door, choosing the most corner seat to sit down, "But, that guy is mine, I want to see how powerful he really is!"
"How can that be?" Yarriel said anxiously, "If you’re not careful and break his bones, how can I use him?"
Aulos threw snacks into his mouth, chewing loudly. Yarriel looked at the young mage’s demeanor, frowning with impatience. He was about to speak, but Aulos’s words forced his voice back into his stomach.
"Not bad, this one’s well made, very tough. Yarriel, as long as you find the chef who made this snack and get him to make you a butt-shaped cake, you can ’use’ it! Haha!"
"Hmph! Go ahead and laugh, you can’t appreciate that soul-stirring feeling anyway. I’ve set my eyes on this mage."
"You two, stop arguing, Master Vizren has already said not to provoke that mage. Remember this in your heads!"
"Oh, even Great Mage Vizren is involved." Yarriel’s androgynous voice floated, "I wonder what he’s interested in about that human? But with his age, I wonder if he can still..."
"Bang," Zag suddenly closed the book in his hands, "Yarriel, watch your tongue! If you don’t want it, I can help you feed it to the dogs!"
"No... my dear Zag, even if my mouth is cheap, okay? You keep reading, pretend I don’t exist."
"Hmph!" Having picked up a few books placed by his side, Zag left the room.
The lounge curtain stopped swaying, and no one spoke in the room. After a long time, Yarriel finally said to Aulos, "I want this person first, anyway, it won’t affect his strength. You won’t mind, right, Aulos?"
"Whatever." Aulos downed the red wine in front of him, stood up, and left with the words, "It seems like someone came in!"
"Those without patience, how can they enjoy the pleasure?" The room was left with only one Dark Elf. He lay slanted on the cushion, supporting his head with one hand, with closed eyes, biting an empty pipe as if fallen into a slumber.
Three days later, Lynch left the Black Crystal Tower for the first time. He now wondered if the matron knew from the beginning that Dark Elf Magic was as unintelligible as celestial script to surface mages; that’s why she agreed so readily to his request for reading. He rubbed his sore back and slightly numb thighs from sitting too long, and walked straight out of the tower.
Returning to the inn, Deluo and Nimo were not there, their luggage and the lizard in the backyard still quietly in place. Lynch did not choose to use the usual spells for cleaning but instead immersed himself in water for a proper bath; he needed to relax a bit.
"Hey! Lynch, are you back? Where are you hiding?" Zilvra suddenly pushed the door open and came in.
Although Lynch knew the moment she entered the inn, the Drow woman’s actions were too quick. If Lynch stood up from the tub, there was absolutely no time to put on clothes. So, instead of being seen through, the mage simply soaked in the water basin.
"You really are here, seems you’re quite leisurely!" Zilvra pulled up a chair and sat opposite the mage, her eyes catching the spell robe and a few other clothes placed on the side, teasingly saying, "Lynch, why are you washing so clean for?"
As she spoke, Zilvra moved the chair a few steps closer. She suddenly jumped up and ran to the side of the water basin.
Lynch had long seen through her current thoughts, the personality of this Drow woman changed like turning pages, suddenly flipping to the next and changing styles. When Zilvra entered the room, Lynch had cast Darkness Skill in the basin, making all the water impenetrable to light, even the special vision of a Dark Elf couldn’t see through.
"Why are you bathing in Black Water? Tsk tsk tsk..." Zilvra sat back in disappointment, "Lynch, I came to tell you some news. I will soon be sent to the Spider Goddess Temple to learn priestly knowledge. What do you think of this matter?"
"When did this happen?"
"Just yesterday. The matron somehow convinced the priests to agree to let me learn Divine Arts as a Priest. Lynch, you’re an adviser, what do you think of this?"
"It has no impact, learning more skills isn’t it more beneficial to your plans?"
"Don’t you know the ceremonies and rites of that Spider Temple? Especially the final graduation ceremony, according to you humans, it’s quite depraved and wild. Don’t surface humans care a lot about this matter?" Zilvra seemed a bit anxious.
"If you want to be a genius priest, naturally you will quickly finish learning and participate in that graduation ceremony." Lynch smiled and said, "Whether this happens really depends on you."
"It’s not that simple!" The Drow stomped her foot and stood up, "Anyway, I demand that you quickly come up with a solution! Alright! It’s decided!"
Zilvra left as hurriedly as she came in, leaving Lynch alone soaking in the "Black Water," contemplating a strategy.
