Chapter 172: Episode 61 Tower Inside_3
An empty room. Only black walls with candelabras hanging on them, which contain nothing—not even a drop of wax.
Lynch was confident that, under the Eye of Insight, no illusion technique could hide traces, nor could any spell obscure such vision. He switched between the two visions several times, pacing back and forth in the room, finally certain of one thing: it was truly empty.
"Impossible! Where have all the things here gone?" Lynch anxiously spun around twice, and his eyes caught the view outside the Black Crystal Tower. Through the high contrast, he realized he was only halfway up the tower; there should be more levels above.
Activating the flight spell, the mage floated up to the ceiling. The Eye of Insight had already seen items on the fourth floor. It seemed like a storage room, displaying many exquisitely bound books. Just from the various colors and materials of the covers, one could feel the constant emanation of magical power, tempting every mage to delve into them; several magic wands rested on a specially made rack, with the wand shafts carved with glowing magical runes; a magic craftsmanship table stood in a corner of the room, with scales, rulers, various tweezers, and knives neatly arranged on the tabletop; beside the craftsmanship table was a potion alchemy pool, with glass and crystal tubes intertwined like a cluster of snakes, some filled with various colors of viscous liquid; and next to these tables was a gigantic storage cabinet, with drawers classified to store all kinds of materials, whether metal, gemstone, wood, rare earth, or various liquid formulations could all be found here, with a large box beside the cabinet organizing various plant herbs and biological tissues.
But what attracted Lynch’s attention the most in the room was a metal orb at the very center. This orb was two meters in diameter, yet floated atop a circular platform six meters in diameter. A metal-made spherical cage perfectly encased the metal orb at the center. At intervals, the metal orb would suddenly transform into a liquid sphere, like a droplet rotating and flowing in the air, emitting a silvery-grey light, then revert back into a dull solid state.
On the base of this platform lay a magic wand, tilted and solitary on the ground, yet it emitted a strong magical brilliance. When Lynch stared at it, his eyes felt a piercing sensation he hadn’t experienced in a long time. If there really was a Prophetic God Staff in that room, it surely must be that one!
The ceiling was inscribed with magical symbols, with dense Drow language phrases crawling over the ceiling like a swarm of ants. With the protection of these inscriptions, attempting to damage the architectural structure here became not only extremely difficult but would definitely draw the city’s attention.
Lynch abandoned his original intention to use the wall-passing spell; instead, he took out the ’Transforming Spirit Body’ scroll, intending to bypass the material wall.
The spell was cast, and the scroll turned back into a blank sheet. However, Lynch remained in his flesh-and-blood body, failing to transform into a spirit body and enter the Spirit Realm.
"Strange! Why is it just like the teleportation spell?" The mage pulled out the ’Shadow Walking Technique’ scroll: "If the Spirit Realm doesn’t allow me entry, then I’ll enter the shadow space!"
The spell was completed, yet the mage remained floating beside the ceiling, with no change at all. Perhaps his body was too attached to this world, refusing to leave for any reason.
Lynch looked at the two blank sheets in his hand, furrowing his brow as he floated back to the ground.
"Is the entire space sealed?" he murmured to himself.
