Chapter 109: Episode 34 Trouble_2
A buzzing vibration suddenly came from the palm of his hand, and the entire magic wand was trembling incessantly. Lynch quickly stopped channeling mana into it; he knew this feeling very well. Whenever two types of magic systems met, this high-frequency tremor would occur. If neither side stopped, this vibration would eventually turn into an explosion.
He looked at the wand, feeling a bit incredulous: "There shouldn’t be any energy left; the glow on it was just an illusion, not real residual magic. Where did the problem arise?" He used Detect Magic to carefully observe, but still couldn’t see any clues.
"Do you need my help?" A tiny voice came from inside the mage’s left arm, "I can go into that wand and take a look."
"Finder, can you get in?" Lynch looked at the long iron wand, which was considered a rare metal, "But what do you think?"
"I’m very sensitive to magic energy, don’t worry. I still have some abilities of a Secret Silver Magic Statue, and spells are ineffective against me." With that, a cloud of red smoke instantly passed through the mage’s body, and under the cover of his right sleeve, it drilled into the wand.
Lynch immediately felt a cold current, tinged with electric sting, turn around inside him, causing him to shiver all over, as if he had caught a sudden chill.
Fortunately, Finder was a friendly soul energy; otherwise, this cold could have significantly weakened the intruder’s abilities.
The Powerful Wand shook for a moment, then calmed down. After another round of the electric chill, Finder returned to the mage’s refined gold arm: "It’s really narrow in there, but I discovered a deeply hidden magic array inside, seemingly leaking energy continuously. An average person definitely wouldn’t feel it. But for me, it was a piece of cake."
"What type of magic array?"
"How would I know? Didn’t I tell you my magic knowledge is terrible? But I’ve forcibly dismantled and consumed that magic array," Finder said with a hint of pride, "I need to rest now..."
Lynch scratched his head, continuing to add energy to the now "tame" Powerful Wand, while pondering on the problem of this hidden magic array.
Meanwhile, in a small library in the Black Crystal Tower, two Dark Elf Mages were staring dazedly at the shattered crystal ball. Earlier, the crystal ball suddenly emitted an intensely bright flash of high frequency. After it subsided, they saw the mage named "Lynch" shiver, and the crystal ball exploded into fragments.
"Master, what is happening here? Could it be..."
"Yes, that mage actually found and destroyed my perception array. It means his ability might even surpass mine." A Drow wobbled to his feet, shaking off the crystal shards from his robe: "The scariest part is, I don’t even know how he did it."
"In that case, should we recruit him to our side? Wouldn’t that be too dangerous?"
"No, if a particular family brainwashes him, it will be even more dangerous for us! Quickly, go find the other masters, this situation is beyond my control alone."
"Yes, Master, your word is my command..."
Lynch wasn’t aware he was already embroiled in trouble; he only regretted following Deluo to visit the duel arena. It was indeed the liveliest place in Ratris City, packed tightly with fervent duel enthusiasts. The raucous noise seemed about to rupture the roof, filled with virtually every kind of profanity and underworld jargon one could imagine. Just stepping into the arena made Lynch dizzy — he preferred the quiet library.
Deluo appeared very excited, cheering loudly, rubbing his hands in anticipation, and his skin started turning red from excitement. The three of them looked around but found no available seats, only the pungent odor of mixed sweat from various races.
"Deluo, there’s no place here, let’s leave," Lynch didn’t want to stay a moment longer in this place.
Nimo cupped his ears with his hands, kicked Deluo’s calf, shaking his head to indicate he couldn’t stand the environment either.
Deluo looked disappointed, glanced over the setup of the duel arena again, then abruptly pulled up Lynch and the dwarf, sprinting up a passage towards a higher place.
"I discovered a spot with fewer people. It should be much better," Deluo explained while running.
Upon reaching closer, they found several Dark Elves standing behind a drawn rope, watching the approaching three guys vigilantly: "Who are you? From which family?"
Only then did Lynch manage to stabilize, leaning towards Deluo’s ear: "This must be a place reserved for the Dark Elf Nobles, we can’t get in."
Deluo looked at the decor behind the two Dark Elves, which was obviously much better than their side. He nodded, disappointed, and began to turn back.
"Right, weren’t these three just forcing this line?" a Dark Elf guard drew his dual blades, elbowing another Drow beside him.
"Yeah, yeah, I saw them forcing it too," he drew a thin sword, gently licking the blade with his tongue, "Haven’t had a good move in ages."
Deluo pushed Lynch and Nimo forward with one palm, moving them out of the attack range of the two Dark Elves. He turned swiftly and drew the double-headed sword from his back: "Heh heh, so you guys are the nice type, giving me just the practice I need..."
The two guards lunged forward, speeding with each stride, shifting sideways with every footstep, forming a flanking position almost instantaneously. One guard twisted his body during the run, wielding one scimitar towards Deluo’s neck and the other towards his waist; meanwhile, another Dark Elf aimed the thin sword directly at Deluo’s heart.
Lynch, having just stumbled, turned around just then. He raised the Powerful Wand, ready to cast a Magic Missile, but he couldn’t possibly finish the casting before the Dark Elves’ attack.
Deluo didn’t retreat a single step, holding up the double-headed sword, immediately charging towards the dual-wielding elf, striking both blades with the twin sword edges in his hands. The Dark Elf tried twisting his torso to dodge Deluo’s angle of defense but found a powerful torque coming from the double weapons.
Deluo, securing the twin blades, spun his double-headed sword vigorously, instantly forming a vortex of blades in front of himself. The high-speed spinning blades formed a complete circle, entirely engulfing the Dark Elf’s twin swords within this swirling surface.
Deluo’s immense strength easily unbalanced the dual-wielding Drow, who was now being swung into the air by this torque. The attack came too swiftly for him even to let go of his swords.
Deluo forcefully twisted himself, flinging this Dark Elf towards the other with the thin sword. Consequently, the stabbing thin sword and the spinning twin blades tangled together. Both Dark Elves killed each other instantly.
"Phew... thought they were tougher. Just this amount of strength and they want to fight me?" Deluo kicked the bodies of the two Dark Elves to ensure they were dead beyond doubt.
Lynch lowered the wand, initially ignoring to praise Deluo’s exquisite martial skills, instead contemplating in his mind how to hide these two dead Dark Elves.
But before he could figure anything out, he heard a whispering voice in the Dark Elf language behind him:
"You guys did quite well..."
