Chapter 104: 32 episodes Hotel_2

Lynch looked for a long time and still couldn’t tell the man’s age.

However, the most eye-catching thing in the room for any passerby was the fireplace blazing in the corner; its soft orange glow brought light to this otherwise dark world tavern. That glow danced in your pupils, planting warmth deep into everyone’s hearts—except for those Drow eternally swallowed by darkness.

Lynch didn’t go to the counter but went directly to the fireplace. He pulled over a chair beside it and sat down, extending his now pale right hand towards the flames to feel the long-missed warmth. In that instant, he seemed no longer bound by the Underdark, no longer had thousands of meters of rock overhead, and no longer surrounded by prying eyes with ill will; the Mage returned to seven years ago, to the days of adventures with his companions, sitting by a campfire, roasting the prey Anna had shot back, relaxing after a tense day.

Suddenly, a hand was placed on Lynch’s shoulder, accompanied by a thick stench of alcohol and a rough belch as someone said, "Hey! Kid, where are you from? Get out of my way, boy!"

Lynch was enjoying the comfort brought by the flames; being disturbed at this moment made him furious. He quickly turned around, his right hand with the warmth of the fire touching the chest of the interrupter. When he saw it was a bearded drunk Big Earth Goblin, he unleashed the Magic in his hand.

Black light traveled from his arm into the drunkard’s flesh, quickly destroying his health. The Big Earth Goblin’s face first turned green, then quickly blue, and his eyes, already bloodshot from drinking, turned bright blue. The Big Earth Goblin’s body swayed, his chest rapidly rising and falling, his mouth opening wide as if to breathe the surrounding air, but only managed to emit a "ugh...ugh..." moan from his throat. He clawed at his neck with his hands, leaving streaks of blood as his nails broke the skin—he seemed trying to open a new airway to let air into his shriveled lungs. His eyeballs bulged out of their sockets as if ready to fall, with black blood flowing down from the corners.

Slowly, the Big Earth Goblin collapsed, his eyes filled with unwillingness and fear, the Mage’s cursed touch having lightly taken his life.

The patrons in the tavern gasped, quickly distancing themselves from the Mage and the Big Earth Goblin’s corpse, fearing they might catch some plague.

The Mage sat back by the fireplace, continuing to warm himself. But now, his black-clad silhouette was cast as a gigantic shadow on the tavern ceiling in the firelight. Many patrons hastily put down their utensils, left enough Gold Coins to pay their bills, and rushed out of this place of trouble.

"Hey there, your friend alright?" The plump innkeeper with a prosthetic leg said to Deluo, "I really can’t have such a dangerous person here."

"Uncle Stone-leg, you just promised to provide us with the best room for three, haven’t forgotten that already, have you?" Deluo’s eyes rolled two rounds, putting on what he thought was his most amiable smile, "Stone-leg Boss, why don’t you go tell my friend this news? I think he might be ’pleased’ to hear such ’good’ news about moving to another place away from the fireplace."

Stone-leg looked at Deluo, then at the silent black figure by the fire, gritted his teeth, "Alright, I’ll arrange the quietest room for you. Tell your friend not to cause any more trouble. Especially don’t cross paths with Dark Elves."

"I knew you were a sensible person, and really, there’s no need to worry. My friend just lost his temper for a moment," Deluo enthusiastically patted the chubby innkeeper on the shoulder. His great strength made Stone-leg’s fleshy body ripple like waves, and the prosthetic leg made a sound like cracking stones. As for the innkeeper’s expression, it was one of both pain and endurance.

"The room has always been ready, I’ll have someone lead you there now." Stone-leg grimaced, holding back two large tears hanging in his slit-like eyes, his mouth slightly upturned into a smile.

Deluo went upstairs to check the room and returned to the inn’s lobby downstairs with a satisfied smile. By this time, Nimo had just settled the livestock and carried their luggage from outside.

The warrior stepped over the rapidly decaying goblin corpse, approaching Lynch, "Mage, we should quickly deal with those things, it’s too unsafe keeping them around all day."

Lynch stared at the dancing flames, imagining their orange-red glow transformed into his friends’ faces. Hearing Deluo’s question, the imagined flames suddenly vanished, leaving only the crackling sound of burning firewood.

"Yeah, let’s take the stuff and see what we can get at the market. Hopefully, we can find some good things," Lynch said, looking at the large bundle Nimo carried, the heavy weight bending the Dwarf’s waist.

"Do we really have to sell these things? Can’t we keep some?" Nimo, curious about the gemstones and all, if possible, would rather have nothing.

"Don’t worry, keep what you like. Actually, the Gold Coins and such are more than enough for us to spend. I mainly want to ease your dreadful burden," Lynch said gently, patting Nimo’s large pack and helping set it on the ground.

Deluo easily shouldered the pack and, together with the Mage and Nimo, left the hotel.

A shadow swiftly hid in the shadows of the street corner, vanishing silently into the bustling crowd.

"Lynch, did you notice it?" Deluo said in a low voice.

"Yes, I noticed too, let’s be careful..."
