Chapter 499: Chapter 218: Yes, I Did It on Purpose_7
"It might be because the weather has gotten colder," a young servant said.
"What are you all doing standing at the door?" Mo Tang’s voice rang out.
The steward and several servants turned around to see Mo Tang and the tall, upright figure of Mo Yunchen standing before him.
"Master Mo!"
"What’s the matter?" Mo Yunchen asked coldly, looking at the group of frightened servants.
Taking a step forward, the head steward explained, "It’s the lady of the house, madam has not eaten since the morning and has been sleeping until now, and we didn’t dare to raise our voices to wake her up."
After the steward finished speaking, a brisk wind passed by, only to reveal Mo Yunchen had already opened the door and stepped into the room, leaving behind an icy statement.
"If anything happens to the lady of the house, you all know what the consequences will be."
Steward Wei and the other servants turned pale.
Mo Tang shook his head, looked at them, and said, "You should have called Master Mo earlier regarding the lady’s affairs. If anything had happened to her, do you think you would have an easy time?"
The tightly closed curtains, the softly glowing lamp, the figure curled up on the bed, her peaceful sleeping face, lips slightly upturned.
He walked over to Qin Qin, touched her forehead, and, finding no sign of anything amiss, he breathed a sigh of relief.
After staying by the bedside for a good while and seeing that she still had not woken up, Mo Yunchen frowned slightly, "Qinqin."
Qin Qin woke from her drowsiness, opened her bleary eyes, and smiled faintly, "How come you’ve come back so early?"
"It’s already past five!"
"What? Past five?" Qin Qin exclaimed, her sleepy eyes finally clearing. How had she slept until after five in the afternoon?
"Lately, you seem to love sleeping a bit too much." Mo Yunchen said gravely, as he smoothed her disheveled hair.
"Hmm, maybe a little. It’s so cold, and it’s warm inside the room, so I don’t feel like getting up," she admitted.
After freshening up, Qin Qin rose and walked out of the room with Mo Yunchen, Mo Tang had already left the villa.
Dinner was ready, and Qin Qin sat opposite Mo Yunchen.
Glancing at the food on the table, Qin Qin frowned slightly, which Mo Yunchen noticed, "Doesn’t it suit your taste?"
"No, it’s just that I suddenly feel like eating something sour," she replied.
The seafood, which usually appealed to her, somehow made her feel uncomfortable, as if it were too greasy and nauseating.
"Sour? What sour thing does madam wish to eat?" Steward Wei asked in a low voice, taken aback.
"I don’t know, as long as it’s sour, that will be fine," Qin Qin said indistinctly, craving something sour, anything would do, as long as she could have it right now.
"Hurry and have the kitchen prepare some sour dishes," Mo Yunchen ordered gravely.
"Make sure they add more sourness," Qin Qin told Steward Wei.
Steward Wei went into the kitchen and instructed the chef to prepare some sour dishes, specifically emphasizing to add more sourness.
Soon after, the steward brought out vinegar-shredded potatoes, sauerkraut fish, sweet and sour ribs, and a few other sour dishes.
Qin Qin picked up a strip of vinegar-shredded potato with her chopsticks, took a bite, and frowned slightly, "It’s still not sour enough, make it sourer next time."
Steward Wei gave Qin Qin an extra glance before nodding.
"Try this, it’s pretty good."
Qin Qin picked up some sweet and sour shredded potatoes and put them in Mo Yunchen’s bowl, then took several bites herself.
Mo Yunchen tasted the shredded potatoes from his bowl, his forehead furrowed. He disliked vinegar, and the potatoes had an obvious excess of it, making them hard to swallow.
After struggling to swallow the potatoes, Mo Yunchen glanced at the nearly finished dish, contemplating.
"Hmm..." Qin Qin was eating a piece of fish, initially enjoying the sour taste, but a faint and barely noticeable fishiness suddenly made her cover her mouth and dash toward the downstairs bathroom.
Mo Yunchen’s expression changed, and he quickly followed her.
Qin Qin crouched on the ground, vomiting fiercely into the toilet, her face deathly pale.
"Ugh... Ugh..."
"Qinqin!"
Mo Yunchen crouched in front of Qin Qin, patting her back and looking on with a somber expression, his heart aching as he watched her suffer.
"I’m fine, I... ugh, really, I’m fine, maybe I just ate something bad."
Having struggled to finish vomiting and now sitting at the table, Qin Qin had lost all appetite. Mo Yunchen put food into her bowl, but she waved her hands to indicate she couldn’t eat anymore.
"Master Mo!" Steward Wei, who had been observing Qin Qin, suddenly spoke up.
Mo Yunchen raised his head to look at the steward who hesitated to speak, "What is it, say it!"
"Madam... Madam’s been sleepy and craving sour food, and even vomiting what she eats... This..."
Steward Wei hadn’t finished speaking when both Qin Qin and Mo Yunchen, sitting in their chairs, looked at each other with a slight shock on their faces.
Upon hearing Steward Wei’s words, Qin Qin was startled, her complexion fluctuating and her heart beating rapidly.
She unconsciously reached toward her lower abdomen, as if by doing so she could touch that tiny, unformed little entity.
She was a doctor, and should understand these signs more than anyone, but she’d never been pregnant before, so she hesitated. Additionally, she had always taken her medication, so she hadn’t considered this possibility. Now, reflecting back, she realized she had forgotten her medication twice, and her period seemed to be several days late. She had been too busy lately to notice the absence of her period.
"Everyone, please leave." Mo Yunchen’s left hand clenched tightly, his voice trembling slightly as he waved for all the servants to go downstairs.
Steward Wei and a group of servants exited the hall.
Mo Yunchen suddenly stood up and walked over to Qin Qin, took her hand, seemed to reconsider, then bent down and swept Qin Qin up from her seat, carrying her upstairs. His movements were gentler than usual from beginning to end.
Gently laying Qin Qin on the bed, Mo Yunchen stood up, took a deep breath, his lips barely hiding a trace of a smile, his voice somewhat hoarse, "Is what the steward said... true?"
Qin Qin’s lips curved into a smile as she looked at Mo Yunchen, "I don’t know, but it should be... quite likely."
"Then you... take a good pulse." Mo Yunchen’s hands were clasped tightly, his palms slightly damp with sweat, his expression tense.
The Master Mo, who was invincible in the business world, the decisive, the commanding, was actually feeling nervous and scared over this small matter.
"Yeah, don’t look at me for now."
She suddenly didn’t want him to watch her take her pulse, as if his gaze was a hindrance. Mainly, though, she was nervous, and his watching would only make her more so.
