Chapter 238: Chapter 179: You Don’t Deserve to Know Who She Is
Lee Peng couldn’t describe his feelings at that moment, a mixture of anger and an urge to tear someone apart. He wasn’t stupid; he obviously knew the girl in front of him was playing him, and he couldn’t possibly believe he would go bankrupt.
"Give me my money back!"
Lee Peng spread his hands out to Qin Qin, asking for money. People around couldn’t help but laugh; Lee Peng, having had his fortune told, still expected to get his money back—how ridiculous.
"Want your money back? I’ve never managed to get money back after telling fortunes. Mr. Lee, if you don’t go back, I’m afraid your jewelry store won’t make it."
Shocked, Lee Peng remembered he had important matters to tend to and glared fiercely at Qin Qin before storming off angrily.
"Really not going to have your fortune told? What will you do if you go bankrupt later?" Qin Qin murmured to herself, watching Lee Peng’s retreating figure. Lee Peng stopped in his tracks and turned to glower at her.
Then he strode off rapidly.
Qin Qin’s smile emerged, murmuring softly, "Whatever happens later is your own problem."
Xiao Yong approached Qin Qin with the stone in his hand, his eyes expressing a drastic change, "May I know your esteemed surname?"
Qin Qin turned to look at Xiao Yong, then her gaze drifted to the piece of jade he was holding, "Qin Qin."
"Miss Qin, you helped me pick this stone. Actually, it’s not truly mine; I shouldn’t keep it all to myself." Xiao Yong handed a fist-sized piece of Ice-type jade to Qin Qin.
Qin Qin’s smile broadened, and she nodded in satisfaction, "Since you paid for it, it belongs to you. Sell it and use the money to treat your daughter’s illness. You shouldn’t gamble like this in the future; you need to take it step by step rather than relying on luck."
After finishing her words, Qin Qin turned and walked away, focusing on others and not selecting any for herself. Now that the play was over, it was time to take care of business.
Xiao Yong’s voice, filled with gratitude, followed from behind.
Qin Qin smiled faintly and walked toward the pile of discarded stones.
Next to her, Elder Hou touched his nose, "Qin Qin, why do I feel more and more that I don’t understand you? You picked a stone at random and it turned out to be an Ice-type? Can you really predict whether there’s jade inside the stones?"
"Grandpa Hou, you jest. How could I possibly predict whether there is jade inside the stones? I’ve just always been rather lucky, and I have a good Sixth Sense," Qin Qin said with an innocent and naïve smile.
Elder Hou stroked his beard, laughed, and said no more.
A stone gambler had been watching Qin Qin closely; he’d been standing next to her all along and clearly heard Xiao Yong’s words, as well as the conversation between Qin Qin and Elder Hou. The middle-aged man narrowed his eyes and stealthily approached Qin Qin.
As Qin Qin squatted down and touched the stones in front of her, she was about to pick up a stone when a large hand beat her to it with a smile, "Sorry, girl, I had my eyes on this stone first; I suppose you don’t mind."
Qin Qin glanced at the man and, without a word, bent down to select another stone. As her hand reached for another stone, the man swiftly took it and grinned at her, "I had my eye on this stone too. You were too slow!"
With a sideways glance, Qin Qin’s lips curved slightly, "Yes, you’re quicker."
She moved aside, then walked to a nearby shelf to select stones, stopping before a stone that was slightly larger and worth about 300,000, observing it intently.
The man followed Qin Qin and saw her hesitate in front of the 300,000 stone. But thinking of the jade that might be cut from it, he stepped in front of her again, "Sorry, girl, I want this stone too. I’m telling you, you should be quicker, or someone else might take it first."
Qin Qin smiled serenely, "Then I wish you good luck."
The man laughed heartily, "I’ll take that blessing."
The man had someone carry away the stone to pay and have it cut.
Once the man left, Qin Qin returned to the pile of waste stones, picked up a stone that looked quite black and ordinary, and then selected a few more stones of moderate size.
"Why does Qin Qin always choose from that pile?" Old Man Mu, seeing Qin Qin holding several ordinary stones without any visible potential, asked.
"Actually, I don’t understand either; I’m just trying my luck with these few stones," Qin Qin replied nonchalantly with a smile.
Elder Hou laughed aloud, "Old Man Mu, don’t say that. Who knows, maybe you’ll cut some fine jade out of that pile of waste stones?"
Old Man Mu chuckled, "Well, it would be great if that happened. But one is already the exception; I really don’t believe a second piece of jade will come out."
He personally picked out those waste stones, which he believed to be of no value. Having one turn out to be Ice-type jade was already quite impressive; the possibility of finding another jade piece within them was something Old Man Mu did not believe in.
