"I’ll give you a ride home," Jiang Qingtian said as he stood in front of Qin Qin, his gaze fixed on her as she chatted with others and turned them down. He had been standing in a corner watching her, waiting for the others to leave before he approached.

"No need, I can get back by myself," Qin Qin promptly refused Jiang Qingtian.

"Qin Qin, are you mad at me?!"

Behind her, Jiang Qingtian’s deep voice came through, tinged with a touch of self-reproach.

Qin Qin turned around, looking at him with confusion, "Mad at you? What are you talking about?"

"I know my parents were a bit too much, and I want to apologize to you on their behalf. I truly consider you a friend, and I don’t want you to be so distant with me, Qin Qin, I..." Jiang Qingtian moved closer to Qin Qin, his head slightly lowered as he looked at her, struggling to express the words in his heart.

"Miss Qin," a clear voice called from not far away, and then Xi Yue, dressed in plain clothes, strode over. He glanced at Jiang Qingtian who stood beside Qin Qin, gave him a nod, and then said to Qin Qin, "Miss Qin, we owe you a great debt of gratitude today."

Qin Qin smiled.

"Captain Xi is too kind. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way home," she replied.

"It’s quite late, how about I take Miss Qin home?"

Before Qin Qin could answer, Jiang Qingtian beside her spoke first, "No need, Captain Xi. I will take Qin Qin home, so we won’t keep you from your case work."

Xi Yue looked at them both, then smiled, "All right then."

"Let’s go, I’ll take you home. It’s really late, and you probably don’t want your family to worry about you. When I arrived earlier, your friends were quite concerned about you."

Hearing Jiang Qingtian say this, Qin Qin did not refuse again.

In the Land Rover driving down the road, Jiang Qingtian turned to glance at the passenger side. In the dark, her delicate profile was intermittently visible, making it hard for him to take his eyes off of her.

"Qin Qin, I’m sorry!"

Qin Qin turned to look at Jiang Qingtian, "I know what you want to say, Jiang Qingtian, you have done nothing wrong to me. In fact, we are not that close; there’s no need for someone to apologize to me for something like this. As for your parents’ actions, to be honest, I didn’t take it to heart."

She wasn’t the type to let irrelevant people affect her. Of course, Mo Qianhui and the others shouldn’t expect any favors from her in the future. Although Qin Qin would not take revenge or dwell on those people, she wasn’t so tender-hearted as to act as if nothing had happened.

Jiang Qingtian’s hands tightened around the steering wheel, and a pang of pain shot through his heart.

After getting out of the car, Qin Qin thanked Jiang Qingtian and entered the residential complex.

When she arrived home, Lee Fong and Lu Xue Zhen were still watching TV in the living room. Each room had a television, so seeing them in the living room clearly meant they had been waiting for her.

As soon as they saw Qin Qin, they stood up from the sofa, "Qin Qin, are you all right?!"

"Yes, I’m fine. I just went to the police station to clear things up. It’s late; you two should also head to bed soon."

Lee Fong and Lu Xue Zhen finally breathed a sigh of relief and confidently headed to their rooms. They had previously sent Qin An to his room without telling him Qin Qin had gone to the police station, merely saying Qin Qin ran into a classmate and might return home late.

After watching the two go to their rooms, Qin Qin also settled in her own room, finished her nighttime routine, and lay in bed. She didn’t visit her space today and fell asleep in bed not long after.

The next day, Qin Qin woke up to find that Lee Fong and Lu Xue Zhen had already prepared breakfast. Qin An was sitting at the table, smiling at both of them as he saw Qin Qin come out, and all three urged her to sit down and have breakfast.

Qin Qin affectionately called out to the three of them before taking her seat and elegantly having her breakfast.

After breakfast, she checked Qin An’s arm and found it was recovering very well. She told him some precautions to follow, and he listened attentively.

Then Qin Qin asked Lu Xue Zhen to check on Spiritual Garden and the Pharmacy. The pharmacy would be opening in a few days, and since she had to go to school today and wouldn’t be available, she had to ask Lu Xue Zhen to take a look instead.

After giving all of her instructions, Qin Qin went straight to City High School. She hadn’t been to City High for several days and felt it was time to make an appearance.

Just as she arrived at the entrance of City High, she bumped into Qin Ying, and Qin Ying was also arm in arm with Gao Rongcheng. Gao Rongcheng’s eyes flickered evasively upon seeing Qin Qin, but he did not leave upon seeing her.

"Qin Qin, why haven’t we seen you at school lately? Could it be... something happened at home? It couldn’t be a serious issue caused by someone confronting your family, right?"

Qin Ying stepped forward provocatively, covering her mouth with a look of mock surprise as she spoke.

Qin Qin smiled and watched Qin Ying put on her act.

Seeing that Qin Qin didn’t reply, Qin Ying thought she had hit the mark and feigned a sigh of pity, "Oh, Qin Qin, you are so young and already not learning good things. How can this be good for you? Now you see, trouble has happened. How should I, as your sister, speak of you now?"

"Oh my, why do I hear a sparrow chirping so loudly in the morning? Why is it so noisy?!" Gan Tiantian’s voice came from not too far away. She quickly walked up to Qin Qin and gave Qin Ying a sidelong glance. "Is this your sparrow? You are really loud. Gao Rongcheng, how could you fancy such a woman? It’s quite disgusting, you know!"

Gao Rongcheng, upon hearing Gan Tiantian say this, tried to pull his hand away, but Qin Ying gripped him tighter and gave him a pitiful look.

Qin Ying did not dare to get angry at Gan Tiantian and could only glare furiously at Qin Qin, grinding her teeth.

Watching Qin Ying’s expression, Gan Tiantian affectionately linked arms with Qin Qin, "Qin Qin, let’s go. Don’t bother with this kind of person. They really have too much time on their hands."

Qin Qin shook her head with a smile and left with Gan Tiantian.

"Qin Qin, it’s my dad’s birthday today. He didn’t want to celebrate, but my mom insisted since it’s his fiftieth birthday, and she made me promise to invite you over. Will you come today?" Gan Tiantian looked up at Qin Qin and asked softly.

Qin Qin thought for a moment and then nodded, "Okay."

Gan Tiantian was delighted to see Qin Qin agree, and they went to the classroom together.

The students in the classroom were surprised to see Qin Qin at school today and surrounded her, chatting and laughing.

"Qin Qin, why haven’t you been to school recently?"
