Chapter 135: The Test

"Yasinnn!!" Being called out on her weakness by Yasin, she instantly flushed red with shame.

The man on the walkie-talkie was absolutely right!

Now, they had fully realized their own limitations. Thinking they could fight their way out of here was nothing but a pipe dream!

Even though they had guns, not a single one of them had ever actually fired one before!

None of them even knew how to aim properly!

Meanwhile, that mysterious man could effortlessly take out Seiko Shizuka with a headshot and blow Johan’s brains out without anyone noticing.

They were nowhere near his level.

Trying to charge out and resist meant they had zero chance of survival.

The man’s mocking and sarcastic tone on the walkie-talkie might have infuriated them, but it was the undeniable truth!

A truth no one could refute!

"You have steak and milk?" Redknapp, who hadn’t eaten in two days, swallowed hard, his voice dripping with greed.

"Not just milk and steak. I’ve got fruits, vegetables, and all kinds of delicious food. My bedroom even has hot showers, and I get to enjoy warm sunlight every day... But if you want any of it, you’ll have to trade something of equal value."

Yasin’s voice oozed temptation.

"We’ll trade!"

Kiara Ford snatched the pistol from Xiao Xuner’s hands and spoke into the walkie-talkie nervously, "But I demand two packs of instant noodles and six sausages for one pistol! If you agree, we’ll trade immediately!"

"Are you bargaining with me?" Yasin’s tone darkened. "Starting now, one pistol only gets you one pack of instant noodles and one sausage!"

"You!" Kiara Ford choked back her anger, trying to argue, "Sir, isn’t this going too far..."

"We’ll trade!! We’ll trade!!" Deborah Bavli quickly pulled Kiara Ford back, forcing a smile as she said, "Sir, we accept your terms. How do we proceed with the exchange?"

"Hmm..." Yasin paused, a smirk curling on his lips before he replied, "Send one person out to leave the guns at the safe house’s entrance. After I take them, I’ll leave the corresponding food for you."

Without waiting for a response, Yasin decisively turned off the walkie-talkie.

"Beep~~ Beep~~~ Beep~~ Beep..."

The dial tone from the walkie-talkie filled the safe house, plunging everyone back into suffocating silence.

"Are we... really going through with this trade...?"

Xiao Xuner asked the group nervously.

"What other choice do we have? Trading with him means we can survive a few more days. Otherwise, we only have two options: charge out and die, or starve to death in here! You’ve already tried rushing out, and you saw how that ended! I don’t care what the rest of you decide, but I’m trading with him!"

Kiara Ford gripped her pistol, checking the bullets before declaring, "Who else is coming with me?"

"I... I’ll go..." Lin Suya stepped forward, clutching her rifle hesitantly.

Hunger and fear had finally overpowered their reason, eroding the last remnants of their courage and resolve.

Faced with the lure of food, even Lin Suya couldn’t resist.

She still had some hidden rations, but they were nothing more than a small pack of barely edible hardtack!

And that man claimed he had freshly grilled steak and steaming hot milk!

If she could enjoy one last proper meal before dying, Lin Suya thought it might just be worth it.

This damned apocalypse—she was already sick of it!

"Wait for me! We’re coming too!" Redknapp and Deborah Bavli hurried over, each carrying a box of bullets they’d scavenged from the warehouse.

Watching the four women cautiously step out of the safe house on the surveillance feed, place their weapons at the entrance, and retreat back inside, Yasin smirked in satisfaction.

He ordered Vivian Sinclair to keep monitoring them from the security room while he returned to his bedroom.

There, he took out a bottle of milk, dipped his fingers into Seiko Shizuka’s gaping vagina, and scooped out a mix of semen and her fluids, dripping them into the milk.

Then, he went back to the kitchen and fried up four steaks—almost his entire remaining stock.

Arriving at the safe house entrance, Yasin inspected the weapons Lin Suya and the others had left behind.

Two rifles, three pistols, and four boxes of ammo, each containing 60 rounds.

For Yasin, this was a decent haul.

With this, he now had enough firearms and ammunition for the time being.

That meant the safe house likely only had one shotgun—the one Johan always carried—and one pistol left.

They were smart enough to keep a backup.

Yasin sneered coldly as he placed the food by the entrance.

The reason Yasin took out high-end food like steak and sausages this time was actually the result of careful consideration.

Steak, milk, and sausages, although much better than bread and biscuits in terms of taste and nutritional value, were not very filling. These items might seem like a lot, but with eight people inside, they would only last for an extra day at most.

Of course, Yasin also had another trick up his sleeve.

Yasin did not leave the food according to the previously agreed arrangement. Instead, he left four steaks, one glass of milk, and nine sausages.

Four steaks meant that only half of the people inside could have steak.

Unless they were willing to share the steaks equally.

And the nine sausages were also deliberately left by Yasin.

Eight people, nine sausages—this was a number that was very difficult to divide evenly!

The extra sausage could very well become the spark that ignited infighting inside.

After placing the food, Yasin turned and returned to the monitoring room, sitting at the control panel and quietly observing the developments inside the safe room.

This feeling of playing with human nature behind the scenes like a god made Yasin feel extremely satisfied.

Especially watching the people inside step into his traps one by one under his guidance filled Yasin with a sense of accomplishment.

Perhaps this was how God toyed with humanity sometimes!

The only difference was that Yasin was inciting conflict among eight people, while God incited wars among humanity.

In the center of the safe room’s main hall, seven people sat in a circle, staring intently at the steaks on the table that emitted a rich, meaty aroma. Only Chai Lee remained unconscious on the sofa.

The food had been exchanged, and now it was time to distribute it.

"He gave us one less steak, but one extra sausage..." Yoko Minamino swallowed her saliva and glanced furtively at the others.

Having gone without food for a full day and night, she was already starving.

Faced with the fragrant steaks on the table, she couldn’t stop her mouth from watering.

"Let’s discuss how to divide the food now," Lin Suya suggested, looking at the group.

"There are only four steaks, so not everyone can have one. I think four people should get steaks, and the other four should get two sausages each. Does anyone disagree?"

Kiara Ford proposed.

Seeing no objections, Kiara Ford nodded and picked up a steak, saying, "In that case, I’ll take a steak."

"I want a steak too!" Redknapp quickly reached for a steak, but Choi Minseo stopped him.

"Why should the steaks go to you and the sausages to others? Don’t forget, there are eight of us here! You say you want a steak, but did the rest of us agree?"

"I was the one who traded bullets for this food!" Redknapp retorted angrily. "The four of us took the risk to make the exchange, so the steaks should go to us! You lost the gun, so you don’t deserve any food!"

"What did you say?"

Choi Minseo, stung by the remark, immediately flared up like an enraged lioness, glaring at Redknapp. "You useless coward! Are you even a man? Hiding behind everyone else but wanting all the benefits for yourself! Why should you get a steak?"

"You’re the one who lost the rifle! You don’t deserve any food!" Deborah Bavli sneered in agreement.

"Fine! I don’t deserve food, huh? Then what about them? Why should they only get sausages while a coward like you gets a steak?"

Choi Minseo shouted furiously at Redknapp.

"Alright, everyone, stop arguing..." Kiara Ford stood up and pulled the two apart before they could come to blows. "This isn’t the time for infighting. How about we draw lots to decide?"

Kiara Ford took out a deck of playing cards from the drawer and placed it on the table. Whoever drew the higher card would get a steak, and those with lower cards would get sausages.

"This is the fairest way!" Deborah Bavli quickly agreed. "I’m in!"

"Okay, I agree too," Lin Suya said.

"I... I won’t draw... You all can have the steaks... I... I’ll just take two sausages..." Yoko Minamino timidly whispered from the back.

"Fine, then let’s draw!" Redknapp grinned smugly, pulling a card from the deck and slapping it onto the table.

Deborah Bavli followed suit, drawing a card.

Except for Yoko Minamino, everyone else stepped forward and drew a card, placing it on the table.

The results were soon revealed.

Redknapp, Deborah Bavli, Kiara Ford, and Xiao Xuner drew K, 9, Q, and 9.

Meanwhile, Lin Suya and Choi Minseo drew 5 and 3.
