Lunar Legacy: Rise Of The Beastlord
Chapter 113: Making out

Chapter 113: Making out

The party was in full swing when they arrived, the old docks transformed into a neon dreamscape. Strings of fairy lights crisscrossed between rusted shipping containers, casting a kaleidoscope of colors over the pulsing crowd. A massive sound system thrummed with bass-heavy beats, the rhythm vibrating through the wooden planks beneath their feet. Smoke machines pumped out hazy mist that swirled around dancing bodies, illuminated by strobe lights that flashed in time with the music.

To one side, a makeshift bar had been set up on stacked crates, manned by a guy with neon-painted arms who juggled bottles with showman’s flair. Nearby, groups lounged on repurposed pallet sofas, laughing over drinks as the scent of saltwater mixed with sweat and sugar.

Jessica squeezed Jayden’s hand, rising on her toes to speak over the music. "I see some friends—gotta say hi! Be right back, don’t have fun without me!"

Before he could respond, she slipped into the crowd, her violet dress disappearing between swaying bodies. Jayden exhaled, leaning against a graffiti-covered container as he scanned the scene. It was exactly what he’d dreaded: a sea of flushed faces, shouts drowned by synth beats, and the kind of chaotic energy that set his instincts on edge.

His eyes explored the entire area, checking for any form of threat or abnormalities.

Then— a fingertip brushed his spine.

Jayden turned on instinct.. just as Jessica popped up behind him, her grin mischievous.

"Hey, stranger." she giggled.

He chuckled, then pulled her into an automatic embrace, his nose brushing her hair—vanilla and something faintly floral. She wriggled free, holding up a bottle with a triumphant flourish.

"Look what I got!" she said with a smug grin, shaking the transparent bottle. The glass glowed amber under the party lights, liquid gold swirling inside.

Jayden’s smile vanished. "Jessie. That’s alcohol." His voice dropped, cutting through the music. "You’re not old enough to take that yet."

She rolled her eyes, leaning in so close her breath tickled his ear. "C’mon, don’t be a killjoy. Besides, my birthday’s in a few weeks! It’s basically legal!"

Jayden shook his head. "That’s not..."

"Pleaaaase?" She hit him with ’the look’, her lashes fluttering, lips puckered in a pout that had no business being that potent.

Jayden’s resolve crumbled, he sighed in defeat. "Fine. But just this once."

"Yes!" Jessica cheered, unscrewing the cap with a pop.

The scent hit him first—honeyed and sharp, with a burn underneath. She grabbed two disposable cups from a stand and poured the liquid into them. Then she handed Jayden one cup, and clinked hers against his before tipping it back.

Jayden followed suit, downing the whole thing in one gulp. But as soon as he did.. the system screen appeared.

[ALERT! Liquid Intoxicant Detected]

[Calibrating Defenses....]

[Intoxicant has been neutralised]

He froze. The liquor slid down his throat, warmth spreading... but nothing happened. No buzz. No fuzziness. Nothing at all. It was as though he’d just drank a glass of water.

Jayden stared at the system’s screen in awe. "Great. So I can’t even get drunk." he scoffed.

Jessica giggled, already swaying slightly. "Woah. That’s... tingly." she muttered, her legs giving in.

Jayden grabbed her before she could fall, holding her dearly. "You sure don’t take long to get tipsy." he chuckled.

Jessica blinked up at him, cheeks already pink. "That’s the point, genius. Getting lost." she defended. Then she tilted her head. "Wait.. why aren’t you tipsy? Don’t tell me you can’t get drunk?"

Jayden smiled knowingly, looking like a theif caught red-handed. "Well.. something like that."

Jessica burst into laughter, clutching his arm for balance. "That’s hilarious! You’re like—a superhero with the lamest power ever!" she snickered.

Jayden smiled wrly. "Guess so."

Jessica giggled, tugging his arm, her steps already loose and carefree from the single shot. The bass pulsed through the docks, vibrating in their chests as she pulled him toward the heart of the dance floor. Bodies pressed around them, bathed in flickering strobes of blue and pink.

"C’mon, grumpy," she teased, spinning to face him. Her violet dress flared slightly with the movement, catching the light like liquid amethyst. "You can’t just stand there looking broody all night."

Jayden smirked. "Watch me." he muttered with an uninterested look.

But Jessica wasn’t having it. She stepped into his space, her hands sliding up his chest to loop around his neck. The sudden closeness made his breath hitch. Her warmth seeped into him, her scent was sweet and intoxicating—overpowering the sweat and saltwater of the party.

"Dance with me," she murmured, her voice a velvet challenge.

Jayden’s mind went on autopilot. His hands found her waist, fingers curling into the soft fabric of her dress as he let her pull him into the rhythm. She moved with a natural grace, her hips swaying, her laughter bright as she tipped her head back. The neon lights painted her skin in shifting hues, her dark eyes gleaming with mischief.

"See?" she said, her breath warm against his jaw. "Having fun once in a while won’t kill you."

Jayden chuckled. "I forgot how jolly you get when you’re excited."

Jessica scoffed. "Please, I’m always jolly. You’re the moody one." she giggled.

Jayden smiled, feeling a little bit of delight from dancing with Jessica. It felt... good. And as they danced, he found himself giving in to the merriment of the party. They danced and danced, getting more entangled with the vibe in the air.

After a while, they found themselves amidst the wave of a dancing hivemind. People, all drunk and lost in the rhythm.

Jayden’s grip tightened instinctively as someone jostled Jessica from behind, pressing her even closer. Her breasts brushed against his chest, her lips parting in surprise. The world narrowed to the space between them—the heat of her body, the hitch in her breathing, the way her fingers tangled in the hair at the nape of his neck.

The music faded into a distant hum. And they got lost in a trance of their own desires. Their faces subconsciously inching closer.

*"Jessica," Jayden warned, voice rough.

But Jessica didn’t back down, she was already under the influence. With a grin, she rose onto her toes, her nose brushing his. "What’s the matter? Scared of a little mouth to mouth contact?" she echoed, playful but daring.

Jayden chuckled, pressing her body against he’s. That was all the invitation he needed. He cupped her face, his thumb rubbing her cheeks gently.

Then without hesitation, he kissed her—right there, in the middle of the pulsing crowd, under the kaleidoscope of lights.

Jayden pressed his face further into Jessica’s. Her lips were soft, tasting faintly of honeyed liquor and something uniquely her. For a heartbeat, she froze—then melted against him, her fingers tightening in his hair.

The party roared around them, but all Jayden knew was the press of her mouth, the way she sighed into him, the intoxicating thrill of pleasure.

When they broke apart, Jessica’s cheeks were flushed, her lips slightly swollen. She blinked up at him, dazed. "That felt really good," she breathed.

Jayden smirked, thumb brushing her lower lip. "Yeah.. it did."

Then the beat dropped again, and Jessica laughed, bright and unfiltered, before dragging him back into the dance.

After a few more hours of drinking and dancing, Jayden decided to head back home with Jessica.

The party’s neon glow faded into the distance as he guided Jessica away, her steps wobbly, her giggles bright and unrestrained. She clung to his arm like a vine, her flushed cheek pressed against his shoulder, her fingers playing absently with the fabric of his sleeve. She had taken a few more cups of alcohol during the rave, and that did quite a number on her.

"Jaydeeeen," she cooed, nuzzling into him with a contented sigh. "You’re so warm. Like a big, grumpy space heater."

Jayden chuckled, shaking his head. "You’re a disaster," he muttered, though there was no real annoyance in his voice.

Jessica purred. "No... I’m your disaster. Hehe." she slurred, grinning up at him with unfocused delight.

Jayden smiled and caught her before she could stumble over her own feet. Then he bent slightly, hooking an arm under her legs and lifting her onto his back.

Jessica squealed in delight, wrapping her arms around his neck like a koala. "Weee! Superman, fly me!" she cheered, kicking her legs excitedly.

Jayden glanced back at her, her radiant grin infectious even in the dim streetlight. "Okay," he murmured, tightening his grip. "If that’s what you want." he smirked.

Then with a surge of power and telekinetic energy–he leapt.

The world dropped away beneath them as they shot upward, the wind rushing past, Jessica’s shriek of delight ringing in his ears. Buildings blurred below as Jayden propelled them forward, landing lightly on a rooftop before launching again, higher this time, the city lights stretching out beneath them like a sea of stars.

"Oh my God! Yes yes yes! Flyyy!" Jessica screamed, clinging to him as they arced through the air, her laughter wild and unfiltered.

Jayden couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face. The sheer, unbridled joy in her voice, the way she held onto him like he was the only solid thing in the world—it sent a warmth spreading through his chest that had nothing to do with exertion.

After a few more gravity-defying leaps, Jayden touched down silently on his balcony, Jessica still giggling against his shoulder. He slipped inside the house, moving discreetly through the hallway like a shadow, until he reached her room.

He opened the door carefully, and went in.
