Lunar Legacy: Rise Of The Beastlord -
Chapter 100: Alpha Complications
Chapter 100: Alpha Complications
When Jayden stepped through the front door, a familiar warmth greeted him.. not just from the house, but from the smell of eggs and toast wafting from the kitchen.
Inside, Tasha and Jessica were side-by-side, frying eggs and buttering toast with a kind of synchrony only sisters could pull off. They laughed softly, nudging each other, their previous tension melted like cheese on toast. At the dining table, Harleen and Jacob sipped orange juice and smiled at the sight, clearly enjoying the rare moment of domestic bliss.
"Morning," Jayden said, waving as he walked in.
Harleen looked up. "Good morning, sweetheart. Come join us, breakfast’s almost ready."
Jayden nodded, flashing a small smile. "Thanks, I’ll freshen up first."
As he climbed the stairs, he glanced back at the girls, watching them giggle and work in unison. It made his heart lift a little. Whatever had been brewing between them—it looked like they’d finally talked it out.
After a quick shower and clean clothes, Jayden came downstairs again. The table was set, and the breakfast spread looked divine: fluffy scrambled eggs, golden toast, and chilled orange juice.
During the meal, Jacob leaned forward with a grin. "How about we all do something fun today? Maybe some games?"
Everyone lit up with agreement.
"Sounds good!"
"I’m in!"
"Let’s do it!"
After breakfast, Jayden took his plate to the kitchen. As he rinsed it in the sink, Jessica walked in with her plate. Their eyes met briefly before she smiled and leaned a little closer.
"So... you guys talked?" he asked.
She nodded, her smile soft. "Yes, and we worked it out."
Jayden returned the smile, rinsing his plate. "That’s good."
Jessica hesitated, then added, her voice dropping low so no one at the table could hear, "She’s fine with... me and you."
Jayden blinked, then grinned, playful and a little stunned. "Oh... that’s really good," he said, his voice teasing.
Jessica tried to hide her laugh but failed. Her cheeks tinted faintly as she looked up at him, admiration glowing in her eyes.
Then a thought crossed her mind, and her face shifted into something more serious. She whispered, "Hey Jayden, have you told Tasha about it?"
Jayden raised a brow. "About what?"
"You know... you being a werewolf."
Jayden sighed. "No, not yet."
"Why?"
"Because her knowing could put her in danger," he said honestly, voice quieter. "You found out by accident and that already puts you at risk. Worrying about you is enough, and I’m not strong enough to protect both of you. Not yet."
Jessica lowered her gaze, lips pressing together in thought. "I understand. But I still think she should know."
"She will," Jayden replied. "I’ll tell her myself... just not yet. Right now, the fewer people that know, the better. I don’t want to put anyone else at risk."
Jessica paused, then slowly nodded. "Alright."
Jayden gave her a reassuring smile, then dried his hands and made his way to the living room where Jacob and Harleen were waiting. Tasha soon joined, and they launched into a marathon of family games—Monopoly, Charades, even some card tricks that Harleen insisted they try. The day flew by, filled with laughter, friendly teasing, and light-hearted competition.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Jayden made dinner for the whole family. They sat together once more, eating and joking, before ending the evening with a cozy movie on the couch.
Later that night, after everyone had retreated to their rooms, Jayden slipped into a tracksuit, pulled on his hoodie, and quietly exited the house. The city lights faded behind him as he stepped into the dark forest once again, hoping for a challenge... a hunt.
But something felt off as he walked. His steps echoed too loudly.
The woods were too still.
Jayden narrowed his eyes. "Where are all the beasts? Aren’t they supposed to be more rampant at night?"
[I think they felt your presence and all ran to hide] Luna’s voice echoed in his head. [They’re scared to fight you.]
He frowned. "Why would they be scared of me?"
[Well, you did defeat the strongest beast in the forest and become Alpha]. Luna chuckled. [Who would dare fight the Alpha?]
Jayden exhaled in frustration. "If I knew becoming Alpha would cause all this, I wouldn’t have fought the Winter Wolf."
[Yeah, sure,] Luna giggled in his mind.
Just then, something rustled behind him. Jayden turned.. and saw it.
A Tremor Gator emerged from the underbrush, sniffing the air, its claws dragging across the dirt as it waddled forward, minding its own business.
Jayden’s eyes lit up. "Finally..."
He crouched slightly, preparing to pounce—but the moment the gator spotted him, it froze, eyes going wide with terror.
Without wasting a single second, it bolted, screeching as it scurried back into the foliage faster than he’d ever seen a beast move.
Jayden groaned and slapped his forehead. "You’ve gotta be kidding me..."
He began walking out of the forest, frustration heavy on his steps. He had considered looking for the beasts and actually hunting them down. But he saw it as a ruthless hunting spree rather than a fight. And right now wasn’t a good time to go on a hunting spree.
"If I can’t fight beasts, how am I supposed to get EXP? Fighting humans doesn’t give me any, and I can’t rely solely on daily quest rewards."
[You can try forests in other cities] Luna suggested. [The beasts there won’t recognize you]
Jayden nodded slowly. "Yeah, that could work. But I can’t be traveling to other cities every day. Maybe once or twice a week. And that might affect the way i get exp and even crystals."
[Well, you already have a solution for crystals] Luna added slyly.
Jayden arched a brow. "You mean Penelope?"
[Yes. Just accept her offer. It’ll make things easier for you.]
He sighed. "I guess you’re right. I’d only have to worry about leveling up and acquiring beast energy. Ranking up the beast gene wouldn’t be a problem."
[Exactly. And you get to spend more time with little Barbie, too] Luna giggled.
Jayden chuckled, recalling Cassandra’s playful grin. "I guess so..."
As he rounded a street corner on the edge of the city, a scream pierced the air.
Jayden halted.
Down an alley, he spotted a young woman in her late twenties, pink hair, and a skimpy, slutty dress. She was running frantically in high heels from five men closing in behind her.
"Leave me alone!" she shouted, desperation cracking in her voice.
The men closed in, cornering her.
"Don’t worry," one sneered, stepping forward in a blink. "We won’t ruin your perfect body. It’s still valuable to us."
Slap!
His hand cracked across her face, then he pinned her to the wall.
"Now hold still," he whispered, a wicked grin stretching across his face as he caressed her trembling cheek. "We’ll each take turns. Try not to pass out."
His hand groped her breasts, and she whimpered, trembling in fear.
Jayden stared for a moment, then shrugged and continued walking.
By the looks of it; the dress, the setting... it was obvious. She was probably a wannabe slut who bit off more than she could chew. And now she was reaping the consequences.
He wasn’t a superhero. He wasn’t a white knight with a cape. And he sure as hell wasn’t some bleeding-heart feminist out to save every damsel in distress.
[Aren’t you gonna help?] Luna asked.
"It’s not my concern," he replied flatly, barely sparing the scene another glance.
But as he took a few steps forward... the system’s screen popped up with a notification.

Jayden stopped mid-step. He sighed, dragging a hand down his face.
