Chapter 44: Chapter 44: What if Ariel meets with an accident...
But Arlo had already decided to forget Ariel. If he told him, and they stayed entangled, would it really be good for Arlo?
He was Arlo’s brother and genuinely didn’t want him to get hurt in a relationship again.
But besides Ariel, could anyone else really enter Arlo’s closed world?
Thinking of this, Dawn Sutherland pulled out his phone, leaned against the elevator wall, kept a bit of distance from Arlo Seys, and quietly dialed Ariel Morris’s number.
But the phone call prompted a voice message stating it was temporarily unreachable, making Dawn’s hand holding the phone somewhat stiff.
Thinking back to the mysterious phone call that was cut off earlier only made him more alarmed and flustered, feeling like something was going to happen.
The three of them emerged from Encounter Pub.
Dawn walked at the back and sent a message to Ariel Morris. After two minutes with no response, he tried calling again but it was still temporarily unreachable.
Dawn’s brows gradually furrowed.
As the three walked out of the pub, the valet had already parked their cars at the entrance, waiting. Since they were platinum members, the bar manager had arranged for someone to drive them home, seeing as they’d been drinking a lot.
The three of them got into their respective cars in sequence, sitting in their back seats.
Arlo Seys nodded slightly to Dawn Sutherland and Nico Haynes, planning to leave first.
Nico waved, "Goodnight, Boss Seys, bye~!"
Arlo Seys said coolly to the servant in the driver’s seat, "Drive." Then he slowly rolled up his car window.
Seeing the window about to close, Dawn’s anxiety spread even more, and he couldn’t help but urgently shout, "Wait a minute! Arlo!"
The driver’s foot paused on the gas pedal, and Arlo Seys lowered the window.
Dawn quickly got out of his car, walked over, and spoke rapidly, "Arlo, the reason we knew you were at the bar tonight was that Ariel gave us the information."
Upon hearing Dawn mention Ariel Morris in front of Arlo Seys, Nico Haynes immediately pushed open his car door and came over as well.
When Arlo Seys heard the name Ariel Morris, his eyes instantly grew a bit cold. He was about to say something. Dawn didn’t give him the chance and continued speaking rapidly, "Just now at the bar, Ariel called me. Just as I answered, she abruptly hung up. I have been trying to contact her, but the phone won’t connect, and there’s no response to messages." Dawn paused, hesitating for a moment, before voicing his concern, "Arlo, I’m afraid something might have happened to Ariel!"
Nico shrugged indifferently, "Second Young Master Sutherland, you’re overthinking. Maybe Ariel Morris is already asleep and didn’t reply to your message."
Dawn shook his head slightly, his face weighed with seriousness. He looked at Arlo with a heavier tone, "Arlo, it’s late night now, and Ariel is a girl. I’d rather we are overthinking and she’s peacefully asleep at home. But Arlo, if something really happened to Ariel, could we live with ourselves for the rest of our lives?"
Arlo Seys’s pupils slightly contracted, and the hand resting on his knee suddenly tightened into a fist. Yet he still said nothing, his gaze deep and inscrutable.
Nico wore an uncertain, conflicted expression, his tone somewhat hesitant, "Ariel Morris probably—wouldn’t—be in trouble, right?"
Dawn continued, focusing on the unmoved person in the back seat, "Arlo, Ariel indeed made mistakes and wronged you. But, Arlo, do you really want to watch her get into trouble and do nothing? Even if it were a stranger, if we knew she might be in danger, shouldn’t we also act and not be indifferent?"
The moment Dawn finished speaking, it felt as if Arlo Seys’s heart was fiercely gripped by someone, causing a pain that made breathing a bit of a struggle.
