Chapter 444: An Enviable Family Background

Chapter 444: Chapter 444: An Enviable Family Background

Yun Yue murmured softly, she really hadn’t used this sleeping atmosphere in the library before, but listening to him lecture made her want to sleep.

Professor Tang had been paying attention to Yun Yue, and seeing her sit down and lay her head on the table to sleep again, he helplessly stroked his sparse hair and wisely continued with the topic.

He feared calling on her to answer questions again, as she would answer them all correctly—then how could he continue teaching?

Lin Xuanze’s roommate widened his eyes, tilting his head in disbelief as they watched her.

Why could she get everything right when she hadn’t attended class in two days?!

Yang Quan nudged Lin Xuanze and whispered, "Really? She knows how to do them all?"

That was too impressive, with six problems on the blackboard—they hadn’t even worked out the answer to the first problem, and she had already solved all six without even drafting.

Lin Xuanze responded with a proud grunt, his eyes tender, "In high school she was just like this, whimsical, sleeping when she felt like it, causing trouble when she didn’t, making it impossible for teachers to continue their classes. If Professor Tang wakes her up to answer questions again, then he might as well not teach anymore."

Yang Quan asked, "Why?"

Lin Xuanze’s lips curved up, "Because she could entirely replace Professor Tang at the lectern, and teach better than him, possibly even making him retire early."

The teachers at First Middle School all had their psychological fears, worried that she might take their jobs.

"Can’t be..." His roommates looked at Yun Yue; was she really that capable?

"Believe it or not," Lin Xuanze huffed. Yesterday in the library, she was reading books, not on the Da Yi to Da Si curriculum but on postgraduate courses.

Lin Xuanze had never compared himself academically to this superhuman, his speed had long left him far behind, and he could only slowly catch up one step at a time.

All four morning classes were Professor Tang’s, and Yun Yue slept straight through to lunchtime.

After lunch, Lin Xuanze looked at her, "Where are you planning to go this afternoon?"

"I’ll go check in with the Physics Department," Yun Yue squinted, pulling her hat brim down to block the glaring sunlight and walking towards the dormitory building.

Lin Xuanze squinted his eyes and suddenly smiled, hoping that person could withstand it.

Pan Lingxin and her friends went straight back to the dormitory after eating, only to have someone knock on their door as soon as they arrived.

"Is Mr. Yun here?" Cai Yi stood at the door looking at the three of them, "I’m the Vice President of the School Committee, Cai Yi."

Since the president was male, it wasn’t appropriate for him to enter the female dormitory building, so they sent her instead.

"So it’s Senior Sister Cai, I’ve long admired your reputation," Qu Yingying immediately stepped forward to warmly pull her into the dorm.

After all, being freshmen, Pan Lingxin and Chen Qingqing looked at her with admiration.

Indeed, a Vice President of the School Committee, both in demeanor and appearance she was impressive.

Cai Yi smiled faintly, but still maintained a somewhat detached demeanor. She glanced around their dorm room, noticing only three people, she curiously asked, "Where is Yun Yue? Hasn’t she come back from lunch yet?"

"She, well, she hasn’t stayed in the dormitory since the day school started. She might have a place outside, flaunting around this morning, her family probably owns a mine," Qu Yingying said enviously. After all, that was a two-billion car; it could buy a skyscraper in Beijing.

Cai Yi glanced at Qu Yingying subtly, as just then, Jiang Ying walked in with four aunties.

"So Senior Sister Cai is here too," Jiang Ying looked slightly surprised but then guessed that she had come to recruit Yun Yue to the School Committee.

"Jiang, what are you doing here?" The smile on Cai Yi’s face deepened, her gaze on Jiang softened with a hint of flattery and respect.

Both Pan Lingxin and Chen Qingqing could sense the change in Cai Yi’s demeanor, and so of course could Qu Yingying.

Pan Lingxin had seen Jiang Ying before, and she guessed that Jiang was probably there to see Yun Yue, so she said, "Yun Yue is not in the dormitory."

"I know, I’m not here to see her. I’m here to pick up her things; that empty bed will do," Jiang Ying indicated with a glance to the four elderly ladies behind her, each of them carrying a lot of items.

The bedding issued by the school last time was deemed too poor by Aunt Qiong, so she meticulously chose these and sent them over with the family’s servants; Jiang was just leading the way.

With so many people in the room, it instantly felt crowded.

Yun Yue rushed over after receiving the message from Jiang Ying, and just as she was about to enter, she saw the four elderly ladies walking out of her dorm room.

"Miss Yun, the madam specifically instructed me to bring you some daily necessities," Nanny Jiang said with a smile upon seeing Yun Yue’s serious face.

Yun Yue gently massaged her temples, "Okay, thank her for me, Aunt Qiong."

"Alright, then we’ll take our leave first," Nanny Jiang said, leading the others out.

Inside the dorm, everyone had already been amazed by the things on Yun Yue’s bed and desk.

The bedding was made of silk; judging by its delicate, soft texture, it was definitely one hundred percent real silk, and most importantly, the pattern on it was national embroidery!

The luxurious skincare products on the table were extravagantly priced, something Qu Yingying could not even dare to dream of, and the clothes in the wardrobe were all high-end luxury brands with the tags still attached.

"Sister Yue, it was thoughtful of your junior. She had bedding and daily necessities sent over, otherwise, the bed would be too hard for you to sleep on."

Seeing Yun Yue, Jiang Ying was tempted to jump on her but only dared to think about it, so she just linked arms with her.

"See if there is anything else you need; I’ll have my aunt send it later," Jiang Ying motioned towards Yun Yue’s bed.

Chen Qingqing watched Yun Yue enviously; that bed was still called hard, yet it had a soft mattress underneath, unlike the wooden plank she slept on at home.

"I don’t need anything else," Yun Yue said somewhat helplessly.

"Mr. Yun, hello, I’m Cai Yi, the vice-chair of the School Committee. I wanted to ask if you are interested in joining our School Committee."

"I see you’re quite familiar with Jiang; she has joined the School Committee too. Why don’t you consider it?" Cai Yi was actually conflicted; before she came, the president had said that if Yun Yue agreed to join the School Committee, then the presidency would be hers after he graduated.

She was only in her third year, and if Yun Yue declined, she had the best chance of succeeding as the president, which would add a significant feather to her cap.

It would be a massive plus to have the title of president of Jing University’s School Committee.

She had not shared that piece of information with Yun Yue yet.

"No, thank you, it might not suit me," Yun Yue declined.

Cai Yi bowed her head, silently breathing a sigh of relief, relieved by Yun Yue’s response.

Seeing her bow her head, Jiang Ying thought she was regretful and smiled, "Senior Sister Cai, there’s no need for regrets. Yun Yue is only focused on her studies, things like the School Committee or any club, she won’t join them. Even though they would indeed be helpful, my aunt said she just needs to focus on her studies."

Cai Yi stiffened. Jiang Ying’s aunt was that person, but what was her relation to Yun Yue?

One with the last name Yun, and the other Jiang; it didn’t seem likely they were relatives.

Jiang Ying’s identity had been disclosed by the president, instructing her not to offend Jiang Ying as she was famously uncompromising.

So what was Yun Yue’s identity?

Last name Yun?

There was no influential Yun family in Beijing.
