Chapter 436: Chapter 436: Increase the Difficulty

Xie Renyi’s mouth kept moving as if he were about to speak, but the words seemed to catch in his throat. The water in the thermos he held nearly splashed out from all the shaking.

Yang Jingxian couldn’t help but feel smug. Just look at this mental fortitude, and to think they had mocked him.

He Tingsong smiled faintly, "Director Guan, you’ve misunderstood. It wasn’t the three of us who wrote it; it was Yun Yue who did."

He turned to look at Yun Yue, who was engrossed in her phone with her head lowered.

Guan Lun was taken aback and followed his gaze. Yun Yue was nestled on the couch, her hands busy with her phone, "She wrote it?"

The people in the office nodded earnestly.

Guan Lun was confused. He glanced at them and then back at Yun Yue, his eyes going back and forth several times. If he remembered correctly, Yun Yue was this year’s top scorer in the national college entrance examination. This was a Jing University senior level test paper—how could she possibly have done it!

"You guys must be joking," Guan Lun said with a knowing look.

Yang Jingxian huffed, "Joking? When have you ever seen me joke?"

He Tingsong pushed up his glasses and nodded seriously at him, while Xie Renyi was still a mess of confusion, muttering nonsensically under his breath.

Guan Lun: "..."

"No, if you’re not joking..."

His voice trailed off, his expression turning to one of horror as if he had seen a ghost as he looked at Yun Yue.

Yun had just completed her game successfully and was in a good mood. She looked up to see Guan Lun staring at her and politely curved her lips in a perfunctory smile, as though to greet him.

Guan Lun: This kid is so polite.

Guan Lun: This kid is worthy of being the top score fully recruited over competing schools.

Guan Lun: How could this kid have so many strengths?

She glanced at the time; it was already 4:30 in the afternoon, and there was only half an hour left before school was dismissed. She stood up, looking cool and a bit imposing which gave everyone a feeling of awe.

Facing their gazes, the corners of Yun Yue’s lips twitched slightly, "I did finish the paper. You all don’t mind if I take three courses at the same time, right?"

"No objections, no objections."

They shook their heads in unison, finally understanding why she had asked for the papers.

With these three perfect-score papers, not to mention three courses, she could take another two, and there would be no issue.

"There’s another thing I might need to discuss with you. I might not attend your classes, only occasionally, but I will still take the final exams," she said with a furrowed brow. Though it sounded like a discussion, she didn’t really leave them any room to speak and turned to leave.

The group watched her, wanting to say something but ultimately swallowing their words.

"Geniuses really do have their own style," Guan Lun remarked with wonder, even her way of being defiant was adorable.

If any other underperforming student dared to speak to them in such a way, they would be sent straight to cleaning the toilets.

"Dean Xie, are you okay?" Professor Luo turned to see that he looked off, the prolonged shaking could surely not be a seizure?

"No, no problem, just too excited," Xie Renyi managed to sit on the couch, his demeanor as if he was in a dream.

Guan Lun looked at the three test papers in his hands, his satisfaction growing. Another great talent from Jing University!

But if a freshman can score full marks, maybe these papers are too easy?

"Look at these three sets of test papers, deans, and tell me what you think about the difficulty level," said Guan Lun, feeling the need to increase the difficulty, otherwise, it would diminish the standard of Jing University’s seniors.

A high-school student wouldn’t be able to pass them, how embarrassing!

After a moment of silence, Yang Jingxian gave Guan Lun a start, "Increase, it definitely must be increased!"

He Tingsong also found it reasonable, although he thought that the test paper was already challenging for students just entering their senior year. But there was someone who not only finished it but also scored full marks— and that someone was just a freshman.

The difficulty level must be raised!

Guan Lun nodded in agreement, "Then I’ll have to trouble the three deans and several professors with the questions. Have them ready by Thursday; we’ll conduct the diagnostic tests on Friday."

"Alright, no problem," Professor Luo nodded in agreement.

After this event, it wasn’t a surprise that Yun Yue no longer appeared in his classroom; it would have been more surprising if she did.

The students who had just stepped into their senior year did not know that because of Yun Yue, they were about to face a horrific exam, living in her shadow.

After leaving the Academic Affairs Office, Yun Yue made another trip to the library, returning the books she had barely finished, placing each one back in its proper place without a single mistake.

Zhang Jiayu’s girlfriend also came, sitting beside him. The two of them seemed very studious, earnestly bending their heads over their work.

Yun Yue handed three books to Zhang Jiayu to check in before they both looked up and noticed her.

Wen Guyu was dressed in an artsy style, and when she smiled, her two small canines showed. Her eyes lit up upon seeing Yun Yue.

Suddenly standing up, she enthusiastically reached out her hand to greet Yun Yue, "You’re Yun, right? I’m Wen Yugu, a junior in the law department. I’ve heard a lot about you."

Yun Yue kept her hands in her pockets and did not move, her gaze cold with seven parts detachment and three parts aloofness.

Wen Guyu awkwardly withdrew her hand, "It’s like this, since the freshmen just started school, I wanted to ask if you’re interested in joining our math club?"

Someone as beautiful and academically excellent as her would be highly sought after by any club. She had likely not joined any clubs yet, and Wen had made the first move to get an advantage in recruiting Yun Yue to the math club.

Zhang Jiayu shook his head helplessly, knowing what his girlfriend was up to, but she was indeed his girlfriend.

"Here is our club’s introduction. Each year, our math club produces many participants in various math competitions— we’ve won quite a few awards," Wen Guyu said, handing the printed new member recruitment flyer to Yun Yue.

Wen Guyu watched her, her hands clasped tightly together with nerves. After all that talking, Yun Yue didn’t seem interested at all. It seemed hopeless.

A hint of interest flickered across Yun Yue’s brows when she noticed the amount of prize money, and the corners of her lips twitched slightly, "Is there a cash prize?"

"Ah, yes, there is, and the prize money is not small. The money won is enough to cover the yearly tuition and living expenses," Wen Guyu said after a lapse, seemingly surprised that Yun Yue’s first question was about the prize money.

Zhang Jiayu tugged at her sleeve and whispered in her ear, "She doesn’t need to pay for her tuition or living expenses; the university covers all of it, and she gets various awards each year."

Wen Guyu: "..."

How could she have forgotten that fact— after all, Yun Yue was a national top scorer with perfect marks!

"It could also serve as pocket money, right? Girls need money for clothes, jewelry, bags, makeup, skincare products, and the like."

Zhang Jiayu: "..."

That was certainly true; he may not know about other girls, but his girlfriend would spend at least fifty thousand a semester on these things.

Still, she was always financially independent; with the various awards from school and money earned from part-time jobs, she could save a considerable amount after spending.

That’s the nature of Jing University students; if not all, then most were able to save a significant amount of money before even graduating, and with many companies extending job offers, they had no trouble finding employment after graduation.
