Chapter 431: Chapter 431 Jing University Cafeteria

Yun Yue left the classroom and went straight to the library, picking out a few books before finding a seat by the window to read.

It was the first day of school, and not many people were in the library. She was the only person around, monopolizing a table piled high with borrowed books.

On her notebook, her handwriting was bold and sweeping, resembling that of a master’s hand.

She sat with her head bowed, her slender, fair legs crossed and poised, deeply engrossed in her reading. Wisps of summer breeze slipped through the window, playing with strands of hair on her cheeks.

The librarian was sorting books. Looking down the aisle, stacks of books blocked Yun Yue’s face, revealing only a long, fair leg beneath the table.

This was the leg of a girl.

Zhang Jiayu was curious. A student had come to study in the library on the very first day of classes?

Perhaps feeling tired from reading, Yun Yue leaned back, revealing a delicately beautiful profile. Zhang Jiayu couldn’t help but stare, and the book slipped from his hands.

With a loud thud, the quiet serenity of the library was disturbed.

Yun Yue turned her head to look, and Zhang Jiayu, somewhat flustered and apologetic, scrambled down from the step ladder, saying, "Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb your studying."

After speaking, he quickly bent down to pick up the books from the floor and climbed back up the ladder, carefully and neatly placing each book on the shelves.

Yun Yue’s lips curved slightly upward. She withdrew her gaze and pulled out a bottle of mineral water from her backpack.

This water was prepared by Xiao Chen; it tasted sweet and refreshing, almost like spring water. She had no idea where he bought it, as she had never been able to find it herself.

Yun Yue studied until noon, glanced at her phone, and realized it was lunchtime. Lin Xuanze had sent her a message, saying he was waiting for her in the canteen.

Yun Yue packed her belongings into her backpack and headed towards the library’s front desk.

Zhang Jiayu was busy entering new books into the system when a shadow suddenly loomed over him. Upon seeing the person before him, he became so nervous that he stuttered.

"Hello, is there something you need help with?"

Yun Yue looked up slightly, revealing the delicate features beneath her cap. She pointed to her table filled with books, "Don’t touch the books on that table; I’ll be back in the afternoon. Please hold them for me."

Zhang Jiayu followed her gesture and saw that even more books seemed to have been added to the table. Had she read that many books just in the morning?

Although curious, he didn’t ask any more questions and nodded with a smile, "Sure, it’s the first day of school and not many people are in the library. Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on them for you."

"Thank you," Yun Yue said and then headed towards the canteen with her backpack.

Jing University’s canteen was exceptionally large, with over twenty sections in total, offering a variety of cuisines from all over the country. Even students from other regions could find their hometown dishes at Jing University.

Yun Yue made her way directly to Jing University’s largest and most expensive East Garden, where Lin Xuanze was in line, incessantly sending messages to Yun Yue.

He had taken more than a dozen photos, "What do you want to eat? I’m in line now; I can get it for you so you can eat when you arrive."

Yun Yue’s lips twitched uncontrollably. How was she supposed to choose from so many options?

He still didn’t quite understand girls.

"Anything," Yun Yue replied with two words and put away her phone. Recalling the route in her memory, she made her way to East Garden.

Lin Xuanze stared at the words "whatever" and was perplexed. Was it "whatever" as in casual or "whatever" as in indifferent?

"Lin Xuanze, what are you zoning out for? What are we eating?" Lin Xuanze’s roommate, curious to see him staring at his phone, leaned over for a look, but Lin Xuanze quickly stashed his phone away, prompting smirks from his friends.

"Oh, is that your girlfriend?"

"There’s nothing to be embarrassed about having a girlfriend; we all have girlfriends. Why are you hiding it? One day we should all bring our girlfriends to meet each other."

Lin Xuanze found himself with an arm slung over his shoulder by his roommates, barraged by their unrelenting comments, leaving him no chance to get a word in: "..."

"She’s not my girlfriend; you’ve got it wrong—it’s my sister." Lin Xuanze looked around and eventually chose a non-spicy counter.

"Auntie, I’ll have one of these... and one of those." He ordered eight dishes in one breath.

The plates were not very big, but they were definitely enough for two people. Even though this counter’s portions were small and it was the most expensive, there were noticeably fewer people in line; though the food was tasty, it was pricey!

His three roommates’ eyes widened as he ordered so much food in one go.

"Bro, aren’t you from Lan City? None of these dishes has any chili."

Lin Xuanze carried his tray and found a clean spot to sit down, "It’s for my sister. She’s coming soon. Are you guys going to get food? Could you get me a portion too? I’ll wait here."

The three friends exchanged glances, recalling the person who had brought Lin Xuanze to the dorm, their expressions growing more animated.

"Man, wait here, I’ll get it for you right away."

With his brother-in-law being so wealthy, it was essential to get on good terms with his sister; maybe after graduation, they could even work at her brother-in-law’s company.

Lin Xuanze, perplexed, shook his head. These three were always making a big deal out of nothing. He watched the entrance of the dining hall, worrying that Yun Yue might come in and not find him.

Since the beginning of the semester, his phone had been ringing non-stop, with the previously quiet Class 7 gaming group coming back to life.

It was the same now, with most people either at Jing University, the neighboring A University, or Beijing University, all sharing fun stories from the first day of school.

"Lingxin, where do you think Yun Yue went?" Chen Qingqing was holding two vegetarian dishes.

Although they were vegetarian, they still cost her twenty yuan at East Garden, but there was a little bit of minced meat in them.

"I don’t know, I haven’t added her on WeChat, and I don’t even know if she’ll come back to the dorm tonight." Pan Lingxin listlessly poked at her rice, "Qingqing, is that all you’re eating?"

Chen Qingqing responded awkwardly, "Yeah, I’m trying to lose weight."

Qu Yingying overheard and scoffed disdainfully, her gaze inadvertently sweeping over to Lin Xuanze.

With her astute observation, despite Lin Xuanze’s understated attire, everything he wore was high-end luxury brands, easily amounting to at least fifty thousand yuan, not to mention the watch on his wrist. Her lips curved up slightly as she confidently approached with her tray.

"Hey, where are you going, Yingying?" Pan Lingxin called out to her, but she continued without looking back, heading straight to Lin Xuanze.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" Qu Yingying’s voice was deliberately soft and whispery, confident in her own appeal.

Lin Xuanze looked up at her and, without mincing words, said, "Sorry, it’s taken..."

However, before he could finish, Qu Yingying had already taken a seat, feigning apology, "Oh, I’m so sorry, you were speaking too slowly. But there are six seats here, so it shouldn’t be a problem, right?"

Lin Xuanze watched her, his eyes, since returning from the Golden Net Training Camp, had grown sharper and more intense, a half-amused look confronting the person opposite him.
