Chapter 422: Chapter 422: The End

Yueyue looked at the dresses stuffed into both hands and, meeting Jiang Qiong’s expectant gaze, reluctantly entered the fitting room.

Two minutes later, she stepped out of the fitting room, and Jiang Qiong’s eyes lit up.

The girl’s black hair casually draped over her shoulders, her delicate features enviable, her skin porcelain-white and luminous under the light. The dress fit perfectly at the waist, making her look incredibly slim, and fell just right at the calf, accentuating the length of her legs.

"It looks good. Who would have guessed our Yueyue has such a great figure?" Jiang Qiong teased with a laugh, "Aunt Qiong knew you’d suit it. Try on those other few dresses too, let’s see how they look."

Jiang Qiong couldn’t wait, almost as if she was the one buying the clothes.

Yueyue tried on several more dresses and, in the end, bought them all.

After visiting a few more stores and purchasing quite a bit of clothing, they became tired and sat in the rest area, calling Xiao Chen to pick them up.

While they had some time, Jiang Qiong struck up another conversation, "Yueyue, after getting into Jing University, socializing isn’t important. Just focus on your studies. Are you planning to commute or to board?"

Yueyue replied lazily, "Probably commute."

Jiang Qiong thought it made sense. How could that kid possibly allow her to board? Shengting was right next to Jing University, a ten-minute walk away.

Entering university wasn’t as simple as high school relationships, but for her, interpersonal relationships didn’t need to be managed at all.

The Xiao Family was her backing. They would pave all the paths she needed to take; all her brain needed to focus on was her studies.

Xiao Chen’s car arrived soon, and he glanced at the part-time workers carrying bags behind them, slightly taken aback, before expressionlessly opening the trunk.

Good thing they chose this car.

After everyone got into the car, it smoothly drove towards Shengting.

Jiang Qiong filled up her wardrobe with the newly bought clothes, feeling wholly satisfied. Seeing that it was getting late, she had Xiao Chen take her back to the Xiao Family.

City Center Hospital.

"Ye Zi, it’s been a while since I’ve seen you, Qi Zi. Did you miss me?"

Zhai Quan, carrying a basket of fruit, suddenly appeared in Xiao Feng’s hospital room, startling both Feng Ye and Jiang Qi.

Jiang Qi’s face registered surprise, "How come you’re here? Did Master Chen allow you to come back?"

Zhai Quan couldn’t help but snicker, "Of course. I don’t know what got into him this time, but he inexplicably agreed."

He’d begged several times before and got refused; surprisingly, this time it was a breeze.

His gaze swept over the unconscious Xiao Feng on the bed, "When will he recover?"

"External injuries, half a month. Internal injuries, a month."

That’s with taking special medicine. Without it, it would take three months.

Jiang Qi cursed Qiu Jun silently. That bastard had done this to their brother; he would pay back what was owed, sooner or later.

"When will he wake up? I need to ask him some questions." Zhai Quan bent over and couldn’t resist pinching the deeply sleeping Xiao Feng; this guy was really lucky.

"Miss Yun said if he hadn’t woken up today, then it will be tomorrow. What’s up?" Feng Ye asked curiously.

"I just want to ask about what happened that day." Zhai Quan felt like he was caught in a maze, unable to untangle it, and it was bothering him deeply.

Feng Ye thought it was something serious but found it to be trivial. What was there to ask? They all knew Nan Jingchen’s identity by now, and Yueyue was taken away by Qiu Jun.

"Let’s not talk about that now. Help me see if little wife will like the gift I picked out for her," Zhai Quan bent down and opened the gift box on the table.

"How is it, does it look good?" Zhai Quan eagerly anticipated their praise.

"It’s nice, but..." Feng Ye looked at the necklace in the box and spread his hands helplessly, "But Yueyue won’t like it."

Giving that thing to other girls might be okay, but unfortunately, the person in question is Yueyue. She has no interest in these things at all.

Zhai Quan looked puzzled, examining it closely in front of him, "It looks quite nice though. You’re not his little wife, how would you know whether she likes it or not?"

Although Jiang Qi didn’t understand Yun Yue, he knew she wouldn’t wear such a thing and said earnestly, "She really doesn’t like it."

Zhai Quan: "..."

It was the first time he had seen a woman who didn’t like necklaces. How on earth did Master Chen manage to win her over!

"So, what does she like? Hurry up and tell me, I’ll go prepare something else."

It’s important to make a good impression when meeting the little wife for the first time.

Thinking of how she had cost him quite a bit of money, Feng Ye said bitterly, "Just give her money."

"Heh, do I look like that sort of tacky person?" Zhai Quan scoffed with a cynical laugh. Who gives money upon meeting these days?

Feng Ye said expressionlessly, "You’re not tacky, she is. If you give her money, she’ll definitely remember you."

Zhai Quan almost fell off his chair in shock, his jaw dropping in bewilderment, "Are you serious?"

"Why would I lie to you?" Feng Ye rolled his eyes. "Just give a red envelope, the bigger the better."

Zhai Quan nodded, half believing and half doubting, planning to go back and prepare.

Golden Net Training Camp.

Today was the last day of the final training assessment. Under the scorching sun, the ground was emitting a wave of heat, with the surface temperature soaring to 42 degrees.

In such conditions, all the trainees had to pass through many obstacles, traverse mountains and rivers for 120 kilometers, and reach the finish line within the stipulated time.

They had set off fully armed, each supplied with food and water for only half a day.

This meant for two and a half days, they would have to hurry along hungry and dehydrated.

Out of the original 300 people in their batch, only 80 remained till the end. They were divided into 20 teams for this final training assessment, four people per team.

Each team had to pass collectively; otherwise, they would be eliminated.

Over these two and a half days, many teams had already sent up flares to signal their withdrawal, leaving only 10 teams in the running.

Snow Wolf and Zhou Bing stood on the finish line squinting at the time.

"Who do you think will come in first?" Zhou Bing was somewhat expectant about it.

Snow Wolf, arms crossed and leaning against the car, said, "Lin Xuanze’s team, I guess."

"The four of them are lucky. By chance, they got grouped together." Zhou Bing was somewhat impressed by their luck.

The abilities of those four were the strongest among all; as long as they worked together, first place would surely be theirs.

Snow Wolf said unemotionally, "But it’s hard to say. If that donkey screws up, they could even be the last."

Zhou Bing raised an eyebrow and glanced back at him, nodding in agreement, "Indeed, there are too many variables in that team."

Each of the four people didn’t submit to the others, just hoping they wouldn’t end up fighting.

At 3:30 in the afternoon, the first team appeared on the road. Leading in front was Lin Xuanze, carrying a person on his back, sweating profusely, his steps heavy yet unsteady. He gritted his teeth and trudged along with difficulty; his two other team members, each shouldering all the equipment, were walking with mutual support and equally struggling.

Just 100 meters from the finish line, Lin Xuanze suddenly ran out of strength, and both he and the person he was carrying fell to the ground. The other two quickly stopped and squatted down.

"Come on! The finish line is right ahead. You’ve walked 120 kilometers; just 100 meters left."

Nearly exhausted to the point of dehydration and all very hungry, it was a struggle for them to even stand. It took them a while to shoulder-to-shoulder muster up the energy and chant slogans, eventually managing to stand up with the unconscious person.
