Chapter 406: Chapter 406: She Likes Him, But He Doesn’t Notice Her
After the clothes were packed, two shop assistants walked over with bags in hand, presenting an invoice with both hands, "Ma’am, here is your receipt, please keep it safe."
Mo Fan took it and expressed his thanks, throwing a glance at Feng Ye, who was momentarily puzzled by the gesture.
"What are you looking at? Carry the bags. Otherwise, people might think I brought you here to pay," Mo Fan huffed, chin slightly raised with impatience, and briskly left the store, her high heels clicking against the floor.
Feng Ye: "..."
The shop assistants smiled and handed over the bags to Feng Ye, "Sir, have a pleasant day."
Feng Ye hurriedly took the bags and followed out the door, only to find she had already disappeared. After looking around, he noticed she had entered another shoe store and was already sitting down, trying on shoes.
"Miss, these shoes suit you perfectly, as if they were custom-made just for you," the shop assistant flattered smoothly. Mo Fan, as if she hadn’t heard, bent her knee to examine the shoes from different angles before pulling out her phone to take a picture.
"Miss, we have a policy against taking photos in the store," the saleswoman noted, her smile diminishing slightly at Mo Fan’s actions.
She thought she was dealing with a high-roller, only to realize she was dealing with the type who come in to take pictures for shopping online—something she encountered more than five times a day, with none of them actually buying anything.
With her sunglasses on, Mo Fan checked her message, put away her phone, and looked up at her, "I don’t want these. Do you still have that limited edition pair in the store, the one displayed prominently?"
The enthusiasm of the saleswoman waned, "I’m sorry, but as you said, that’s our store’s centerpiece..."
The store manager quickly intervened, apologizing to Mo Fan, "I’m sorry, Miss, our new saleswoman doesn’t know any better. We will get that pair for you right away."
The manager pulled the saleswoman aside and scolded her, "Can’t you recognize the signs? This lady is either rich or noble. Don’t you want a promotion?"
The saleswoman rolled her eyes, "Manager, she was taking photos with her phone to find similar models. How does that show she’s rich or noble?"
She had to deal with countless customers like Mo Fan every day, and she had the least patience for this type.
Every time they came in, they tried on goods for hours and ended up buying nothing.
"You’re still green," the manager said. "You need a few more years to reach my position. Now go get those shoes."
"But Miss Mo has already reserved that pair..."
The shoes were a unique 36 size and had already been reserved and couldn’t be given to another customer to try.
"You said it yourself—it’s reserved, not bought. No deposit has been made, so that’s not a proper reservation. Just bring them for her to try, and whether she buys them is another matter."
The manager noticed the brand logo on the shopping bag Feng Ye was carrying—it was from a high-end neighboring boutique, where even the cheapest outfit costs tens of thousands.
He purposefully approached Mo Fan, deducing that Feng Ye, laden with at least ten outfits and dressed in international brands, must be her financier.
In their line of work, keen eyesight and sharp wits were paramount, instantly assessing a customer’s wealth and taste.
Mo Fan, legs crossed, began to fiddle with her phone, a slight smile playing on her lips when she saw him enter, hands full.
Feng Ye sat beside her, and her smile grew sly and teasing, "Tired?"
Feng Ye chuckled, "This little amount of stuff? Not tiring at all."
"Oh," Mo Fan said meaningfully, giving him a once-over. It was indeed more leisurely to have a man carry things while shopping. Suddenly, her gaze drifted towards the entrance.
Mo Lingwei and Mu Yike walked in, because Mu Yike had been beaten up the last time, and Mo Lingwei felt she owed her, so she took her out for a shopping treat.
She withdrew her gaze indifferently, lips curling into a scornful smile, "There’s your first love."
Upon hearing this, Feng Ye looked over and saw Mo Lingwei’s familiar face. His expression darkened instantly, then he looked away emotionlessly, "And you are my cinnabar mole."
The cinnabar mole in his heart for 18 years.
Fortunately, he had found her and would never let go again.
"What?" Mo Fan didn’t quite catch what he said.
Feng Ye was too timid to repeat himself and changed his words, "I said that a life-saving grace means pledging oneself in return."
Mo Fan couldn’t help but roll his eyes, "What era are we living in that still talks about repaying a life-saving grace with marital pledge? By that logic, everyone I save could star in a palace drama."
They both had their backs to the door, so Mo Lingwei couldn’t see them when she entered.
"Weiwei, the shoes in this store are all so beautiful." Mu Yike had browsed around, picked out a few pairs of shoes and was trying them on the sofa when she realized that Feng Ye and Mo Fan were also there.
Her face instantly turned pale, unable to look directly at Feng Ye, showing how scared she was.
"What’s wrong..." Mo Lingwei sensed her unease and followed her gaze, her spine stiffening.
The two sat on the couch, one devil-may-care, the other sultry and sexy, seemingly well-matched no matter how one looked at them.
And yet, both of them looked at her with a mocking, ridiculing gaze, sparking a flash of aversion in her heart.
She couldn’t understand, even after she went home that night, why the Tianxi Security’s attitude toward Mo Fan had changed so swiftly, later assuming it was only because of Feng Ye’s influence that she dared to be so arrogant.
She pretended nothing was wrong, pulling a smile at the corner of her lips, "What a coincidence, Sister likes the shoes from this store too? This store has good quality and class, but what brings Mr. Feng here?"
Mu Yike scornfully thought to herself, "Do you even need to ask? He’s obviously here to pay the bill."
Feng Ye hooked a rogueish smirk, dangerously sweeping a glance over the two women.
"Madam, your shoes." The store manager came out with shoes and paused upon seeing Mo Fan.
Mo Fan also noticed the shoes in her hands and her expression gradually turned cold. She quickly stopped Mo Fan from trying on the shoes, "Wait a moment, that pair was reserved by me first. I’ll buy it, how much?"
Mo Fan ignored her and continued trying on the shoes.
"Swipe the card." A hand with distinct knuckles appeared before the manager, slipping a bank card low. The man’s cuff was slightly rolled up, revealing a strong wrist and the corner of his lips moved with a casual, capricious smile, "I’ll buy all the shoes in the store."
"Kick these two out."
The air tensed for a few seconds, Mo Lingwei and Mu Yike widened their eyes in disbelief at him.
He must be crazy!
What does he need so many shoes for?!
The store manager and the sales staff were all astonished, casting shocked glances at the devil-may-care man on the sofa.
"Okay, just a moment, sir," the manager quickly reacted, already screaming with joy internally—had it not been for years of professional conduct, she would have been as stunned as the store’s new sales staff by now.
Mo Fan smiled at the corners of her lips, bent down to fasten her shoes, stood up, and walked a couple of circles in front of Mo Lingwei, "Do they look good?"
Mo Lingwei’s face turned shades of green and black, dark shadows creeping into her eyes—clearly pissed.
Feng Ye’s lips turned up in a smile, "They look good, everything looks good on you."
Mo Fan had grown tired of such words, but today, they sounded exceptionally pleasant coming from his mouth.
She sat back down on the sofa, took off the shoes, and stepped barefoot onto the velvet carpet, "They are nice, but suddenly I don’t like them anymore."
She cast a playful look at Mo Lingwei, "Since Lady Mo likes them, they’re hers."
Feng Ye, fearful she might misunderstand, quickly explained, "I bought them for you."
