Lord Theodore's Favorite Ritual
Chapter 228: Hypnosis Gone Wrong.

Chapter 228: Hypnosis Gone Wrong.

Noon.

Theodore Mansion.

Critic Arley, Critic-Ishie.

****************

Theodore was just stepping into the office when the knight came right after him, his attire ready to go in a cloak and knight attire.

Conan had waited for the lord to finally come out of his bedroom so he could inform him of his desire to look and find the muckraker.

"I have to go" Conan announced like a man on a mission, he hadn’t told Helena anything and he didn’t intend to, he would apologize after saving the poor soul.

Theodore met his eyes with one of confused curiosity.

The knight clenched his teeth, "I need to look for her, she must be alone and that is why she is being so cryptic"

Theodore was shocked, "Conan-" but the knight cut him off.

"Please, I shall be back before you know it" he promised, he believed this time it was nature calling him to her, so he would find her early. The lord doesn’t look confused so he added, "She could help us even, give us information too and guide us"

"I see," Theodore blinked.

"This is not an ordinary fight and if she believes he is coming for her too, there must be some sort of a connection"

A connection?

Theodore knew this existence is different from the past one but it is getting way too confusing for him and he hated it. "What about Helena?"

"She would know when I return," he replied simply.

"Be safe" Theodore wished, his eyes communicating strength and his trust.

"I knew you had a soft spot for me," Conan said with a grin.

Conan turned, took the door knob in his palm, swung the door open and left, unbeknownst to him that things never always went as planned in this world. He forgot that sometimes the people that look like tey need the most protection are actually the safest and the safest strongest of people end up needing all the help they could get.

Evening,

His Office, Theodore Mansion

Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.

*************

"Come in" his husky voice called the person behind the door who knocked in.

He appeared subtly surprised at her presence so he asked, "Helena, what a pleasant surprise, what might this visit be for?"

She smiled and he hated how much it looked like Freya’s. "Selfish reasons, do you know where Conan is?"

He held her siren ocean-blue eyes before responding, "No"

She narrowed her eyes, making him raise a brow as she asked. "Theodore, where is Conan’?’

"Are you compelling me?" he grumbled out a question. "Are you trying to compel me?" She rolled her eyes and in a blink of an eye he was standing next to her, too close for her to breathe, she staggered back, her spine straight and she felt an icy chill run down her spine.

He cocked his head to one side, observing her, "Were you trying to compel me into speaking?"

Her eyes widened, "No! I would never do that" she croaked out.

He is only human she tells herself to calm down.

"Can you do that?" he questioned, wondering how vulnerable Lydia is around her.

He had always been immune to magic spells, He had a hint of magic in him that didn’t activate but it actively fought against penetration, so all of his opponents that weren’t human had always had to resort to ombats because magic didn’t work.

"I have never done it" she lied easily but Victore had forced her into doing a lot and breaking limits that she definitely knew how to compel someone.

He watched her for a moment before his jaw clenched, "You are lying" he whispered, "Why are you looking for my friend?"

"He might be in trouble," she replied.

Theodore scoffed as he turned leaving her space, "He can take care of himself, he is a knight"

"Prince Theodore, I am a witch" she countered stating the obvious about how she could know if he’s fine.

"Yes, one I am becoming very doubtful of," he retorted.

"Fear not-" he cut her off. "I fear not, I worry for Lydia"

She nodded, "Then we are on common grounds"

"Conan shall be back soon, be rest assured" he said as he sat down.

She gritted her teeth, "I cannot be rest assured but I understand what infuriates Lydia now"

She turned and left the office with blazing eyes.

Why would they always think they needed to hide things from women to save the world?

Sometimes the women could help.

Helena walked out of Theodore’s office, her face a mix of disappointment and simmering anger. Her steps were quick and sharp, echoing her frustration. As she moved down the hallway, she muttered under her breath, "He couldn’t tell me where Conan is... probably thinks I’m too soft to handle the details." The thought irked her even more, her fists clenching at her sides.

She made her way through the mansion, her mood darkening further with each step.

The sight of the vegetable garden, usually a source of solace for her, did little to calm her nerves. The vibrant greens and the orderly rows of plants seemed almost mocking in their tranquility.

As Helena’s gaze swept over the garden, she spotted Hound.

The shadow guard was moving with his usual quiet grace, his presence a stark contrast to her turbulent emotions. He was headed toward the far end of the garden, his purpose clear and unwavering.

Helena paused, her anger momentarily abating as she watched Hound. There was something about his demeanor, his unwavering dedication, that always managed to command her attention. She took a deep breath, her eyes following him as he disappeared among the rows of vegetables. With a final sigh, she turned and headed in his direction, her mind already racing with questions and the hope of finding some answers.

"Excuse me," Helena called out, drawing Hound’s attention.

He looked over his shoulder, his eyes becoming uninterested when he saw her, "The witch" he acknowledged.

"I always knew there was a reason we never talked," she tutted, as she glanced at her dress that was touching the ground.

"I was too attractive for your eyesight" he deadpanned.

She narrowed her eyes, suspiciously, "You actually talk" she pointed out.

He grunted, a sound that reverberated in his chest making her smile, he’s a big man.

"What might you want?" she heard him ask next, prompting her next question, "Where is Conan?"

He looked away continuing his work, "Use your head"

"What?"

He stood up and turned to her, his towering height doing little to intimidate her, she knew of her powers, "I thought magic practitioners have powers for everything" he sassed.

"Do you know where Conan is?" she asked casually.

"No" he grumbled out his interest in having a conversation with her tiny.

"Zachary" he froze at that mention, meeting her gaze warily and that was when she hypnotized him, compelling him to answer her question with a magic link. "Where is Conan?" her question without blinking he replied. "I am unaware" and right before she could sever the link, Hound cut through the mind link and the next thing Helena knew, her lungs lost all air power after her back hit a wall and Hound’s large palm enclosed her neck, his fingers tightly wrapped around her throat.

His eyes rimmed with black glistened and the green lost most of it green to gray as he bellowed, "If you ever do that again, I would spin your spineless neck off your head and fling it for the beast to feed after chopping your body into piece to save for his winter feed" his fingers and jaw tighten at every word he spoke.

She drew in a deep breath but it got stuck on her throat making her reddened as she struggled to breathe. "Do you understand?"

Her eyes kept widening, of course she understood but she couldn’t reply with his large palm wrapped so tightly around her neck, she blinked once and he finally let her go with a shove.

Theodore had warned her but she needed to know where he was, it was a shame he didn’t know.

She watched him walk away in his crisp white attire like he didn’t just say all those horrible things to her while she struggled to evade the afterlife.

She sniffed, fuck.
