Sandra instead rolled her eyes as she tried pointing out what she disliked in Lydia. "With how much she seduces people into doing her biddings I had to put that out, look at her hair, and your disheveled -" she got cut off.

"One more word and your tongue would be sliced in two" Theodore snarled.

"I am the kings mother!" she bellowed, eyes wide and livid.

Lydia was left standing pale and surprised at the direct hostility being directed at her.

Theodore snarled. "Then behave like one" he taunted.

With great restraint from holding Lydia’s palm too tight or squeezing her fingers, Theodore pulled Lydia and started to walk away from the woman.

"Where are you going?" Sandra asked with a questioning frown.

"Theodore?" Lydia whispered, she herself didn’t know where they were going to.

Sandra suddenly looked appaled. "You cannot stay in the same chamber, she shall be given hers, she is-" Theodore cut her off again.

"I will be damned if I stay somewhere else from my wife!" Theodore bellowed and Lydia almost modded in agreement.

Sandra shook her head ever so elegantly. "Now now Theodore you should be calmer," she advised softly but she was a hypocrite in Theodore’s eyes.

"Sandra I did not come here to have you push me apart from my wife" he informed her matter factly.

They stood in silence, a stare off setting off between them while Lydia stood wondering how strong the lady is to be able to hold Theodore’s gaze this long.

With clenched teeth Sandra let out. "Help them settle down then"

The arrays and rows of royal maids that stood in their designated positions, with their attire immaculate and a trained demeanor poised, they received the discreet signal so they departed from their posts.

With practiced grace, they moved in unison, their footsteps silent against the polished marble floors.

Each maid approached the couple with a gentle smile, their eyes gleaming with warmth and hospitality. But that was all a trained reaction, Lydia felt slight apprehension in their movements.

With a slight bow, they extended their arms, gesturing for the guests to follow.

Theodore grunted before moving with his wife.

"What is happening?" Lydia asked confused and curious.

He pulled her closer to him. "Do not worry, Lydia, you have me"

As they followed the royal maids through the corridors of the castle, the atmosphere slowly became palpably tense.

Theodore, tall and imposing with a stern countenance, strode with purpose, his brow was furrowed in displeasure at being dragged down here and being disrespected from the gates.

Lydia, by contrast, she walked beside him with a slight tremor in her step, her hands clasped tightly together in a silent display of nervousness in the brief moment their hands left eachother.

Theodore casted occasional glances around him, his lips pressed into a thin line.

This place brought unwanted memories.

His grip on his wife’s arm was firm, almost protective, and his expression despite tight his eyes betrayed the warmth he shows only towards his wife.

He was a man accustomed to command, and being led like a mere servant as though he was a stranger and being given a new chamber did not sit well with him.

Lydia, graceful and delicate in her movements, seemed to shrink slightly under the maids pointed gaze.

Her eyes darted anxiously from side to side, as if searching for an escape route from their current predicament.

Her fingers fidgeted with the fabric of her dress, betraying her inner turmoil.

"Theo!"

He paused in his steps, his head turned to the direction of the voice and after Lydia was forced to watch as Theodore went through a series of emotions which ended in ager before he pulled her and they left the premises.

Ignoring the soft spoken, tall lady.

The maids Led the way through the ornate corridors of the palace, they navigated with confidence, ensuring the visitors felt welcomed and guided to their chambers with the utmost care and respect.

Lydia carried a frown that she couldn’t help with.

As they continued to follow the maids, the Theodore’s displeasure only seemed to deepen, his jaw clenched tight as they approached the appointed chambers.

The air crackled with tension, each step echoing in the hallowed halls of the castle.

Meanwhile, Lydia’s breath came in shallow gasps, her heart racing in her chest as they neared their destination. Who was that lady? She thought again.

"Relax Gooseberry, no one can eat you except me" Theodore whispered into her neck.

She reddened slightly before clearing her throat and leaving him without a reply.

Finally, they arrived at the chamber doors, it was a different chamber from the one he had owned before, he narrowed his eyes, where the maids came to a halt and turned to face them, their expressions unreadable beneath their veils.

The lord’s gaze bore into them with an intensity that could have melted steel, while his lady stood beside him with her shoulders still high despite tired.

"Open the doors? We are exhausted from a very long journey" Lydia complained resigned.

With a curt nod from the maids, the doors swung open, revealing the room beyond, one that was bathed in soft candlelight.

Theodore’s jaw tightened even further, his eyes flashing with a mixture of annoyance and impatience.

But Lydia, though still visibly tired, summoned a small smile and took a tentative step forward, her trust in him unwavering despite the weirdness of this place.

"Do not lie on the bed!" Theodore instructed, alarm heavy in his voice.

She stopped abruptly. "What? Why?"

He moved quickly his steps agile and cautious, he swung the white bedsheet out of the bed in a swift motion. "We could never be too trusting of this people" he grumbled in the process.

Lydia’s brows creased. "Oh" she gasped, confused.

"Also, I shall check everywhere before you touch anything, the bed is safe" he alerted, all the while looking around and shrugging off his

"You are making me even anxious" she confessed, her nerves that had calmed rising again.

Theodore took a deep breath to say something but Lydia interrupted him "Relax, you have me" she said with a soft laugh while he nodded impressed. "You better believe that" he warned.

Lydia with a smile approached their luggage that had been brought up with them earlier.

"I had brought gift for... her and King Salvatore" she let out.

She was unsure of how to address Salvatore’s mother.

"They do not deserve anything from you" Theodore grunted from the curtains where he was inspecting them.

She shrugged. "Perhaps, but they have me"

"I alone should have you, Gooseberry" Theodore whispered, his arms brushing hers and without delay, awareness coated her arms.

When did he get so close?

"I have a lot of people you know, animals even" she retorted softly.

And then her eyes widen. "Oh My God, I forgot Red" she screeched.

Theodore paused. Shit.

"Theodore, Theodore, no!" she panicked.

She started to pace.

"It shall be here soon" he assured her, Red would always find him but she didn’t know it was a beast and he didn’t know how to tell her, after she forgot the last time it’s as if there’s something blocking her from having those memories and he would happily let it be.

They are somethings he never wishes her to remember. He alone would bear it for both of them.

"Whatever the hell do you mean by ’it shall be here soon?’ Lydia question, palms on her hip.

He chuckled. "Red knows the... I mean it shall find it’s way here, it is quite smart" he opted for a simpler answer and then he was back to rubbing the cushion for anything.

"What if it gets stolen again?, that little creature" she asked anxious and regretfully.

"It would not Gooseberry, take off those shoes they must hurt" he said resigned.

She sighed. "I do not want another Red, if I lose this one I shall stay petless"she swore.

Theodore yelled from the bathroom. "Is that a promise?"

"Yes, and the stupid straps are so stubborn" she grumbled, her chest heaving.

She dropped her hands, her chest pressed to her thighs while she looked down at her feet, it was very uncomfortable in her dress but she was Lydia.

"Let me" Theodore offered after coming out.

She looked up at him and he dropped a kiss on her lip. She followed his lip when he broke it but he was headed for her feet, his knees to the ground as she was sitting on the bed.

"You know if we go back to Critic-" she started only to be cut off by a sound.

A knock on the door.

"Come" she ordered instinctually.

Theodore’s shoulders tightened while he looked at her. "You should have asked who it was first, Lydia" he chided.

She pouted, her regret evident.

The maids, four Lydia counted stepped inside, they bowed at the same time and then one of them spoke monotonously. "Dinner is served, your highness"

Theodore without raising his head from his wife’s feet replied. "We shall have ours up here"
