Chapter 144: Writing To The Ton.

Morning.

Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.

"I see, you are all up already" Conan pointed out when he reached the twins place and they were outside just leisurely watching the area.

"Sir Conan" the acknowledged with smiles.

"Yes, your presence is needed in the...Oh just follow me" Conan.

Gabriel jumped down the fronts of the quarters, his neat clothes making Conan smile before he turned.

"Are we in trouble?" Gabriel.

Conan was already heading back his back to them. "It depends on your definition of trouble" he said simply.

"What does that even mean?" Tom whispered to Gabriel, he is in a big pants, one that is struggling to stay in the confines he had created with the rope on his waist.

Conan sighed. "It means..." he trailed off possibly thinking of how to put out the statement. "I see it as trouble which is why I came looking for you but it might not be trouble at all" he completed with a smile while the twins blinked.

In silence they reached Theodore’s office and right before they’d acknowledge him, his sky blue eyes caught something.

"What happened to your hair?"

They were both instantly surprised that Lord Theodore noticed the difference in Gabriel’s hair and even commented on it.

"He fell" Tom replied with a smile, his already veiny for a young boys caramel hand tapping his brother, Gabriel on the shoulder.

"Of course" Theodore agreed easily, he wasn’t about to get into an explanation this morning, if whatever happened didn’t destroy anything it meant they’re good.

"Do you write?"

Gabriel shook his brothers hand off his shoulders. "Yes, on paper I do" he replied.

Tom rolled his eyes.

Conan chuckled as he took his seat.

Theodore smirked.

"Alrighty then, I need you to write me a letter" his gaze is dark and mischievous.

"For the people" he added.

And then he gave Gabriel the content to be written.

Gabriel began to read, his shoulders squared with pride...

Gabriel paused, took a breath and continued.

Theodore and Conan exchanged glances but Conan shook his head at the frowning lord, they couldn’t interrupt the young man but his face held an uncontrollable smile as he resisted a laugh.

Theodore sighed. Let the lad continue he thought.

...Your wisdom, courage, and steadfast loyalty are indispensable in the face of this adversity, and I trust in your unwavering commitment to the protection of our home. Together, we shall stand united in defense of hearth and home, resolute in our determination to thwart the designs of those who would seek to threaten our peace.

Gabriel finished his reading with a smile. He looked so proud of himself Theodore felt defeated but his friend was different.

Conan busted out laughing, he could not contain himself anymore, the expression on Theodore and the one on Tom were so identical he could call them twins.

"Gab... my word" he continued his laughter, loud and rumbly, his palm looking for something to hold for support.

Gabriel frowned, as he faced the laughing knight. "Was that not formal enough?"

Conan gulped, his palm raised trying to stabilise himself.

"No. It was a bit too wordy for Theodore" he clarified, clearing his throat.

"You think it is wordy? But he should be able to convey-"

Tom interrupted his brother after a short laugh. "Gabriel you talk too much and that is the problem, let me write it instead" he offered but there was no other option, Gabriel couldn’t express himself lightly.

Gabriel pressed his lips before he handed the paper and left his seat for Tom.

It took Tom a few minutes after sitting and he was done.

He hated to talk too much so he handed it to Gabriel to read and Gabriel comfortable and eager started to do just that.

Theodore was nodding before Gabriel could ask. "How about that?"

Conan replied with a smile while Theodore merely stood up, rearranging his shirt. "That is a bit more like it"

"No, take out the eagerly" Theodore growled his disagreement. "I am not eagerly waiting for them, they could ignore the call as cowards or come forward for a solution" he argued.

Tom nodded bent and started to write another cooy, neater and with the correction Theodore had made.

"Where are we distributing this?" Gabriel asked over Tom.

"To every man" Conan replied quickly and he caught Theodore’s frowning features.

"That is a bit..." he trailed off "Conan I cannot have that amount of people in my mansion" he completed.

"Oh but you should, it is needed" Conan advised, number matters in some matters.

Theodore remained silent, seeing the truth in his friends words.

"Print a lot of copies" Theodore directed his order to the twins.

"Of course, Lord Theodore"

"They should not speak until they are spoken to"

"In your presence lord Theodore it has always been like that" Conan teased while Theodore made his way out of the room.

"Oh and happy birthday Sir Conan" Tom wished but Conan misplaced the twins.

"The handsome wordy young man remembered" he said with a happy smile.

It was indeed his birthday.

"Thank you, when is your birthdays?" Conan.

Tom smiled awkwardly while Gabriel who had looked as lively as a playful cat suddenly appeared gloomy and solemn as he glanced the whole office avoiding their gazes.

"Soon" Tom mumbled sharply while Conan nodded, suspicioun coating his eyes.

"How did both of you learn to read and write so well?"

"Miss Fera after our mother" Tom.

Conan repositioned on his seat. "Miss Fera has reached Critic Izinghale?" His eyes wide in disbelief "I had thought she was limited to Critic Arley"

"Our mother was her accomplice in Critic Izinghale"

"Oh, your mother must be really intelligent, mine was a governess" he told the twins with a small smile gracing his lips.

"Yes, she was" Tom replied briskly.

Was?

Conan eyes stretched. "Ahh I am sorry, I forgot"

"It is okay, we wish you a happy birthday" Tom claimed, his fingers tightening around the letter paper.

"Thank you again" Conan.

Conan stood up, as he pointed at them. "You should take a ride out so you can distribute enough before dawn"

"Of course, Sir Conan" they both bowed before turning and heading out to carry out the order.

Marketplace.

Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.

****************

"He really is formidable" a man scoffed in realization.

The man with red hair sat behind a desk with a letter he had just read in hand.

He is the same man that had killed an inn maid the day he’d arrived in Critic Arley.

News about the five witches that Theodore and his friend had taken down had reached him and he could not stand it. His infuriation of Theodore increased at how seemingly invincible the lord appeared and he wanted to tear that down.

Soon.

"I need to make a move" he muttered to himself.

Fast, his face spelled as he stared into space.
