Chapter 135: Mira’s Questioning.
Chapter 135: Mira’s Questioning.
Morning.
Dungeon, Theodore Mansion.
Critic Arley, Critic-Ishire.
******************
Theodore felt irked by the conversation but he needed Lydia to find the closure, she might be needed not withstanding he didn’t believe in closures.
Tentatively Lydia drew nearer to the bars and Mira uncharacteristically threw spit her way. Lydia stepped aside quickly and luckily it only touched the end tip of her sleeping cloak.
Her chin wobbled again and she blinked the last tears away. "I hope it was worth it" she whispered before turning to her husband, she did spar Mira a chance to refute.
"Theodore...she is all yours" she said, her fingers trailed his arms as she walked out.
In a loud voice. "I do not mind being Theodore’s but he shall have to do better" Mira the maid sneered as she began to laugh maniacally.
Without a word, Lord Theodore approached the suddenly trembling maid, his steps measured and deliberate.
"Lydia, please go ready yourself for the day or sleep if you deem fit" he whispered to lydia who appeared defeated, a stance he now realised he hated.
And then there was silence, Lydia nodded, glanced at Mira one last time, registering how different, alone and exhausted she appeared, her black locks and deep blue eyes were looking ragged too.
She sighed and left, whatever happened to her, she deserved it. Lydia mused.
"I shall not ask you why, I shall bring out why" Theodore’s voice, when it finally broke the suffocating silence after his wife, was cold and unyielding, each word dripping with venomous contempt.
Theodore knew one of the boys were behind him so he simply spoke. "Get Red for me please, I intend to make it as messy as possible" he ordered.
As they waited for what he asked for, Mira narrowed her eyes. "You will not ask of me anything?" she asked.
Theodore ignored her until Tom showed up with Red behind him, Theodore doesn’t care that the boy had seen Red’s true form, he was too angry to think.
Mira straightened at the sight of Red. "They really is a beast in this mansion"
"Now you are never going to be able to tell anyone"
"Lucky bastard" she spat, her eyes bloodshot.
"You are confident but I won’t ask questions first"
"If I knew he was this important I would have killed him first, he was always watching me like he was paid to" she scorned, her teeth were yellow now from all the days it went unwashed.
Theodore stood up from the stool he was occupying outside the barriers. He unlocked the door started to guide Red inside.
"What are you doing?" she asked panicking.
Red stepped inside and he looked as bored as he looked whenever Lydia read to him.
"What is your name?" Theodore asked.
She remained silent, her eyes trained on the beast.
Theodore relaxed on his stool again. "How did you end up in the slave establishment?"
He demanded answers, seeking to unravel the twisted web of deceit that had shattered his once idyllic existence, but she was persistent despite the glaring beast.
"Now when do we start the actual investigation?" she asked through gritted teeth.
Both her arms were spread to be held by chains and her feet was shackled, she should be weak but she was still spitting venom.
"Red" Theodore ordered, it was just a call but Red understands, she shouldn’t be finished. Information was needed. This process happened before.
Red pounced on her, it appeared fast in the eyes of the onlooker but for Mira she felt if took a year of her life, dragging every second and minutes of it as Red chopped three of left her fingers off straight from it’s hanging position.
The beast stepped back like a mindful creature who knew limits and Mira hated that, she wished he’d be mindless and unknowingly finished her then she wouldn’t have to answer the lord.
In a calm growl, Theodore asked. "Who are you working for?"
"I work for no one" she said angrily.
"Who are you working with?" he changed the question.
She smiled now. "A witch, a powerful one" she added.
Theodore’s heart skipped a bit. "What’s her name?"
She scoffed, her smile crooked. "The witch is male and I never saw him so there’s nothing you or your viscious beast can get out of me"
"Why did you keep attacking my wife?"
"Lord Theodore, I did not expect you to be so sweet and tolerable, I should have aimed for you instead"
Theodore with cold gaze and relaxed shoulders he barked. "Red"
Again Red pounced on her and this time, he dragged her hair, her scream was what the cold walls experienced next. It was agonizing and long. Red kept on pulling on it and the with his left paw he swiped it across her face, earning him a wail and her, four now bleeding lines that dragged from her forehead to her chin. Red growled reaching again but Theodore ordered no and it immediately stopped.
"Why did you push Lydia into the lake?"
"She is the bane of my existence"
Theodore gulped. "She does not know you"
Mira stayed quite drawing deep breathes. "How did you know her?" Theodore asked another question.
"Your stupid emperor destroyed my life because of your dear innocent wife" she screeched.
Theodore’s brows furrowed, how is Salvatore connected to this? he thought.
"You look so clueless, Salvatore is out there gathering girls that look like Lydia so he can fuck them up, but then they never really reach the standards of lady Theodore to him so after showing hus dark side he sends them to the slave establishment" she said it sarcastically but hurt could be drtected in her voice.
"Why then did you go to him for help? Why did you want to join hands with him to destroy me" he was baffled, she should hate Salvatore and not Lydia. Not his Gooseberry. She didn’t deserve this revenge that Mira took upon her.
She sniffed, her legs wobbly. "I was not exactly out for you, it was Lydia I wanted him to have, I...I figured if he was doing those things to us then he might be fantasizing... doing them to her but I calculated wrong" her lips dripped blood and saliva.
"He sent me away but what was worse was that he did not recognise me and he has another Statham whore in his house" she narrated, her head falling low and her breathless.
"You were jealous" Theodore pointed out. He was not going to give her a reaction for hinting his wife could be a whore. She knew she was the whore and that was enough. "Do you know what she has been through?" his eyes became so much darker and she couldn’t hold it anymore.
"I simply hated her" She trembled before him, her words little more than a whisper lost in the vast emptiness of the dungeon.
But despite the maid’s resolve has crumbled beneath the weight of his relentless interrogation, it could not offer solace, or explanation that would appease Theodore’s wrath.
"What is your actual name and family?"
She met his eyes, resignation apparent in them. "Lillian Jameson" she mumbled.
Theodore did a double take ln her. How had he not noticed?
He must have seen her before also why did Conan not recognise her? She was his childhood friend.
"Are you lying to me right now?" he asked with narrowed eyes.
"They are a lot of things you do not know, lord Theodore" she replied vaguely.
Theodore grounded his teeth. "I shall know of your death"
She shuddered and a single tear dropped her eye before she wiped it off.
Mira or as it has come to light now, Lillian and her father the alderman Mr Jameson haven’t seen each other for weeks before she had left for the emperor and so the alderman hasn’t been home for almost fifty days, he would send a guard to check on his two daughters and wife they would all pretend everything is fine and then the guard would return.
He doesn’t know his daughter was missing or about to lose her life soon.
As Lord Theodore’s anger threatened to consume him, a fleeting image of his wife flashed before his mind’s eye.
She was innocent, unaware of the treachery that had unfolded in her absence, her laughter echoing in the halls as she readies to venture out with her friend to the dressmaker.
With a heavy heart and a burdened soul, Lord Theodore knew that justice must be served, but the cost would be steep, the repercussions far-reaching.
And as he turned to leave the dungeon behind, the weight of his grief and fury hung heavy upon his shoulders, a dark cloud looming on the horizon of his once-proud lineage.
"Give her to Salvatore" he ordered the two people standing outside.
Blanc frowned. Gabriel was supporting her weight now. "She cannot survive to journey to the Citadel" Blanc altered.
"Give it to the spy, let him worry about that" Theodore grumbled.
He knew if he got rid of Noah, another one he wouldn’t know would just come along and watch him but now Noah has come in handy.
He shall let Salvatore take care of her. He almost didn’t know what to do with her.
He would need to talk to Salvatore.
What is his obsession with Lydia now, but just as Mira would be outside the entrance, Theodore took a hold of his sword and swung it across her shoulders.
Her head came thumbing down with blood spilling whilst her eyes were left widened on the head beheaded from the body.
With chest heaving, he dropped his blade.
"Take care of her" the lord instructed.
She took away what was his, what he could never recover and he’d never forgive that, traveling to the Citadel would’ve been a long suffering but he couldn’t risk her surviving or him still feeling the lingering darkness in him.
Theodore strolled out of the premises with Red was right behind him as they marched back into the mansion.
