“Director, today isn’t April Fools’ Day, you aren’t joking with us, right?”

They had just arrived at work when they were suddenly told that they would have the entire day off, and no other department had this privilege–only their department was unexpectedly given a holiday.

This was simply too unbelievable.

“No, it’s a directive that just came from above. You all really have the day off today; everyone can pack up their things and leave work.”

“Really?” The others, seeing his expression didn’t look like he was joking, finally believed it, “Damn, we really got a day off! Could it be that the President is considering the overtime we put in recently and specially rewarded us with a holiday?”

“Linda, what are your plans for the afternoon?”

“How about we have a group lunch? Since we suddenly got time off, we don’t know where to go at the moment. Might as well all hang out together, play some cards, sing some songs, and then have a meal together,” someone suggested.

The suggestion immediately received approval from the others, “Sounds good, count me in.”

“I’m in too.”

Luna’s large eyes spun around before landing on Kingston Howard, and immediately she asked with a smile like blooming flowers, “Director, are you going?”

Kingston Howard then looked towards Enna Clark at his side and hesitated for a moment, “Hmm… I can go.”

Luna saw the little glance he stole at Enna Clark and was annoyed inside, but hearing him agree to come made her mood brighten up instantly.

She had already forgotten that just the day before, Enna Clark had embarrassed her in the elevator, yet she approached Enna Clark’s desk again and asked as if casually, “Enna, are you joining us?”

Enna Clark was busy packing her things; seeing Luna approaching again, her brows imperceptibly knit together. She took her car keys out of her bag and said indifferently, “I’ve got some errands, so I won’t join in.”

Luna, hearing that she wasn’t going, was all smiles; she was just about to say a few pleasantries.

Enna Clark had already shouldered her bag and walked out without a second glance at her.

Kingston Howard watched as the elegant young woman was about to pass him by and couldn’t help but call out to her, “Enna.”

Enna Clark stopped and turned back, puzzled.

Kingston Howard was dazzled by her clear eyes, and the words reaching his lips suddenly made him nervous, “Aren’t you coming with us?”

Enna Clark didn’t understand; she was a newcomer, and whether she attended a group activity shouldn’t matter. Why was everyone asking her about it?

“I have some errands, probably can’t make it to the activity. Maybe next time.”

Kingston Howard’s eyes fleetingly showed disappointment, but he was a business elite after all, and wouldn’t lose his composure over something so trivial. He nodded immediately and said, “Hmm, all right. If you have things to do, go ahead.”

“Then I’ll be going. Bye.”

“Bye.”

Enna Clark entered the elevator without looking back.

Kingston Howard watched the elevator door close and felt his enthusiasm waning.

He originally thought that Enna Clark would attend the group activity, which is why he said he would go. Now that Enna Clark wouldn’t be attending, he lost interest in participating too.

But since he had already committed, it wouldn’t be good to change his mind and say he wouldn’t go.

Luna observed all this and whispered in a voice soft enough only for Kingston Howard to hear, “Why do I feel like Enna is always busy? Today is a day off, and there’s no work-related stuff; I don’t know what she’s rushing off to. She couldn’t possibly be hurrying to go on a date, could she?”
